Our cottage has been lovingly maintained and is in pristine condition. It is also very well laid out. You will enter through a generous foyer with closet and antique breakfront, and pass the media room (optional 3rd bedroom) with a divided light glass wall separating it from the family room. The family room itself is large and also includes a dining table and an open counter that separates it from the kitchen. From the kitchen, you can step outside to our stone patio complete with both gas and charcoal barbecues and a beautiful sunset view. The second story contains two bedrooms and a shared bath.
My family and I had a great long weekend stay at this adorable cottage. The owner was very nice, hospitable and very responsive. It is located close to the Bershires and it was the perfect place to go to get away and relax. The cottage is cute, cozy and was comfortable for our family of five. We look forward to returning again in the near future!!!
We have been visiting the Berkshires for many years enjoying all the area has to offer. Stonewall cottage and beautiful surroundings was the perfect spot for a weekend away. Melinda was wonderful to work with...from having everything ready on short notice, offering suggestions on local restaurants, cultural activities to hiking trails. We would love to visit again!
We spent a long weekend at the cottage and had a wonderful time. The cottage is perfect - clean, cozy and comfortable. The location was ideal - just a short trip into town for any necessities, lots of conservation areas close by for short hikes (Ooms was nice), several swimming holes a short drive away and the Omi scuplture garden made for a beautiful walk at dusk. We have two small children and they loved running around in the yard and watching for deer and rabbits. My husband enjoyed several long runs along the country roads near the cottage. All in all a wonderful place to stay!
We had a wonderful time at this cottage and hope to come back. It was clean and welcoming and had everything we needed. The sheets were fabulous and little touches like fresh flowers and battery powered candles made it extra nice! Owners were on hand but always respectful of our privacy. We can't wait to come back!
We spent the week-end with our adult daughter at Mr. and Mrs. Gould's lovely country estate. The guest cottage was so charming, with interesting artifacts, beautiful paintings, and nice furnishings. The hardwood floors are spectacular, and the white walls with contrasting trim are so attractive. While the kitchen is small, everything you need is there, even a cheese grater! There is a tv room with doors to close, which I appreciated as my daughter stays up later than I do! I never heard a thing! The setting is beautiful, off a dirt road, but close to Old Chatham and many other attractions. If you like to bicycle, there are so many quiet country roads to explore with beautiful views. Melinda Gould is a joy to work with and answered my emails quickly. I hope to meet her the next time we rent this very special property. Thanks so much for a wonderful week-end!
It was perfect as a weekend getaway. I'd recommend this property and the area it is in if you're looking for a taste of upscale country living. The sweet cottage was clean and neat as a pin. The decor was tasteful and relaxing. The location was quiet that we slept soundly. The beds were comfortable and plush as in a luxury hotel. The kitchen was well appointed. We took walks up the road and found several waterfalls, woods and an old graveyard. We walked trails in a nature preserve a short drive away and saw only one other hiker. We took short drives and discovered a couple of farm stands close by that had freshly picked organic produce, home-baked pastries and sweets (including gluten-free ones) and even hand-pulled beeswax candles for gifts. We also found Kinderhook Farms, where we bought frozen chicken, beef and lamb - they were the best-tasting fowl and meats I've had in a long time. Next time we'll stay at least a week for there are several nice restaurants to try out, Tanglewood is nearby and we want to explore pretty New England towns nearby. And we'll travel light for it had a nice washing machine and a dryer! The owner could not be more helpful to us when we had questions about the area.
This cottage is 2+ hours from the New York City and 2 1/2 hours from Boston. We are near to Great Barrington, a wonderful town in the heart of the Berkshires with fine restaurants, shops, antiques, etc. It is also close to the Boston Symphony's summer home of Tanglewood in Lenox, MA, and is less than 20 minutes from Hudson, NY with loads of antique shops and restaurants. It is less than 10 minutes from Chatham, also with shops/restaurants and W. Stockbridge, MA (same). Great Hiking, mountain biking, riding, fishing, etc. Peaceful, rural setting on quiet country road. Pond on estate grounds.
