Modern, eclectic western apartment comfortable for short or extended stays.
What makes this House unique
Enough cannot be said about the views from this property. Rarely can you get a great view of Chimney Rock AND the Big Horn Mountains. The view from inside is just as good as the view outside! The sunsets paint the hills a spectacular red color.

We wanted a place for four adults to stay. When we got there it only had places for three adults. They did provide a blow up sleeping mattress. There were no check-in procedures listed, eventually we found the Shell Campground to do that. Also, check out was listed as 11:00 AM, but their sheet said 10:00 AM.
Hi Robert, I just checked the listing again and confirmed it clearly says it sleeps 3 in beds, I can’t help that you brought 4. You also found the property and used your assigned door code without trouble, so I don’t know how you can say there were no check in instructions.
Regarding check out time, there was a discrepancy between online (11am) and the on-site paper (10am). I apologize for that and will correct it for the future. When you mentioned this when we met I confirmed 11am would be no problem, but with another guest arriving the same day 10am would be appreciated. I realize this was an imposition.
Quiet, Scenic, Wonderful
Title says it all! Hope to return!
Listing isn't as it seems
Treehouse offers stunning views and is nestled quietly in the mountains in a very small town. Before I discuss it's pros and cons I think it's important to note something that isn't seen in the listing. The treehouse is not owned by the listing owner. In fact, it's not a private cabin or even an apartment above a house. It is actually a section of someone's home that you stay in. There is no door for privacy. You enter the home through their main door and walk through their home to access the upstairs loft. Now, if you are ok with staying in someone's home while they stay in it as well, please read on.
The listing owner is at a campground in town. Now granted, the town is only 3 miles away but after spending 13+ hours in a car, driving any extra to check in is unacceptable. Most air bnbs you check in right at the front door. This was a notable inconvenience.
The home is gorgeous.
The views are breathtaking.
The bed is very comfortable.
The homeowner is very nice and welcoming.
The decor is beautiful.
The home is very well kept.
You are in someone's home.
The shower had dead bugs and hair in it.
You have to check in at a different location.
Shell has little to offer for amenities.
Although our vacation was amazing, if you are looking for more seclusion and privacy, I suggest a different cabin. However, if you are the world traveler who doesn't mind hostels, this beautiful home nestled in the mountains is great for you. It is also worth noting that the drive from the east takes you through the most beautiful scenic drive up and down the mountains. Stop at Shell Falls on the way for some great photos.
Greybull has some cute little diners but for those of you from out of state, they do allow smoking in buildings which can be overwhelming if it's not something you are used to.
If you are heading to Yellowstone through Cody, it's a little over an hour away and you will definitely want to stop at Old Trail Town.
Overall, for comfort and views, I give this 5 stars but renters beware, the posting doesn't currently accurately depict what your getting for your money.
Hi Holly, it sounds like overall you enjoyed your stay, which is always our goal.
I've updated the description to make it clear the apartment is accessed via a shared breezeway. I thought this was already there, but it was on another service we have it listed. That is a good clarification that needed made.
There are a few other comments I would like to respond to. Regarding check-in, I can empathize with not wanting to make an additional stop when you are so close to your destination. We have found, though, that most users appreciate having a local contact they always know is going to be available. We're also rural, and the driveways tend to be long. The extra directions in an area with limited mobile phone service have proven to be reassuring.
Regarding your comment about "zero privacy", I feel this is a dramatic overstatement. The apartment has a private stairway, on a completely separate floor, at the other end from the main house. I encourage guests to read the other reviews on the apartment on this and other services to see this has not concern.
The property was fantastic, it was so relaxing and peaceful out in the middle of nowhere. We didn't have any issues, other than the amount of bugs that were able to get in through a crack between the window and the AC unit. Not bad though. I definitely want to come back.
The Treehouse is the perfect location to access the Bighorn area. Beautiful views, and nice to have a small kitchen to create budget meals! Very easy stay, thank you!
