Absolutely lovely home on an amazing property. My wife and I along with a few friends felt completely at home and really enjoyed our stay. The house was perfect for a relaxing weekend, well equipped and clean with a great dock/pier out to the channels.
The best way to describe this property is breathtaking. From the moment we arrived the owner made us feel comfortable and welcomed. The house was well maintained and immaculately clean with all the amenities that one needs. The design and layout is centered around the magnificent views of nature including breathtaking views of the ocean. We felt completely relaxed during our stay and spent a majority of our time sitting in the covered porch area while reading a book, having dinner for two, or just enjoying a cup of morning coffee.
If you are into bird watching; Shorebirds, Tree Swallows, Barn Swallows and Purple Martins are all over/near the property. Although we did not take the owners up on a boat ride to barrier islands, the sounds of the surf can be heard from the upper balcony house during the evening hours.
Recommend that you take a nice 30-minute drive to Chincoteague Island and have some of the best ice cream I have ever had at the Island Creamery. It was defiantly worth the drive.
The best things about staying at this property are the view, secluded property location, and the morning sunrise viewed from the eastern facing bedrooms. I cannot wait until the next trip to this property.
Just returned from a wonderful, relaxing vacation at this beautiful property. The house is lovely, spacious, and well stocked and the location is fantastic for those who appreciate the unspoiled environment of the Eastern Shore. The tidal marsh is absolutely breathtaking and full of wildlife. The views of the marsh from the house are stunning and the ocean is even visible in the distance at high tide. Our family thoroughly enjoyed the setting and the activities. We caught fish and crabs right off the dock, explored the marsh by boat and kayak, loved going over to the beautiful uninhabited beaches by boat, and took some day trips to nearby waterfront towns for simple dining and shopping. Mostly we enjoyed being together and truly away from it all. We would definitely recommend this property to other families and look forward to going back ourselves.
If you are looking to escape the hustle and bustle of every day life and just relax, this is the place for you. The house was lovely and the owners very accommodating. The location is in the center of the peninsula and offers easy access to beaches, restaurants, as well as Chincoteague Island.
The view from the house was incredible. From the deck we enjoyed the beautiful sunrise and sunset each day.
One morning we even had the opportunity to see a rocket launch from Wallop Island. We fished and crabbed from the dock, walked the surrounding area, and honed our photography skills capturing the beautiful views and abundance of birds. The house was open, roomy, and comfortable. Plenty of spots to relax and enjoy a good book alone or enjoy time with family and friends.
Although you had easy access to the main road, the house is situated in a very private and quiet spot. We hope to return again to enjoy this wonderful experience we had on this vacation.
This is one of the most relaxing vacations we've ever had. The house was wonderful. Very well maintained and clean. The bird watching was wonderful and the barrier islands were just a short boat ride away.
The islands were very secluded and shells were very plentiful.
There are wonderful restaruants in Onnanock for dining out also excellant seafood is available for cooking at the house.
The owner provided fresh fish one night and helped us get the most wonderful lobsters for $5.99 a lb. for cooking a the house. We also caught crabs from the dock.
I just cannot explain how enjoyable morning coffee is on the dock. It's so pieceful with herons, skimmers, egrets and geese flying over. You can see clapper rails in the marsh and there is a large variety of song birds.
The master suite downstairs has plenty of privacy and teenagers would be very content upstairs with their private living quarters
If you want a vacation to get away from it all, get away in extreme comfort this is THE PLACE!
It's like living in an aviary (swallows, martins, eagles, cardinals, finches, osprey, gulls, cormorants, pelicans, heron, egrets, geese, ducks, bobwhite, oystercatchers, plovers, terns, sandpipers, hummingbirds, mockingbirds, and many shorebirds). The owner took us (two couples) to a barrier island for shelling and to the ocean for dolphin watching. He took us flounder fishing (plenty for 2 meals). The flounder scraps were used for crab, which we feasted on the following day. We drove to Assateague Island several days to see the wild ponies and feast on ice cream at the Island Creamery. It's a great place to get away from it all and relax. The only boat traffic past the dock during our 10 day stay was the owner and a few crab and clamming boats. There's a great fried chicken place within 5 miles (B&Js). Owner can tell you where to buy some very fresh shrimp and scallops.
