This cabin is "top shelf". A home away from home.

To be honest, at first we were worried about the location? Honestly we did not know there was a road between the cabin and the river. Road did have some traffic at times during the day and we were worried about our kids there. After settling in the "mountain life" took over. We had the time of our lives for the next week at the cabin. The sounds of the rolling river, nights by the fire on the porch, board/card games with the family, meals on the grill. And all these things are right there. Rosman is a great little town, close enough if you want to shop in Brevard or explore parks in the area, and far enough for you to feel "away". Waterfall tour is a must! Craig Miller was one of the best guys I have ever met. He made the trip and what he showed us was truly amazing. On our own we did Sliding Rock at Pisgah and looking glass falls. Went to Dupont forest and Cedar Mountain. Did gem mining and river tubing at Bear Creek. Horseback riding at Pisgah stables. At the cabin we went fly fishing every morning, caught my first trout right in front of the cabin. My son caught a smaller fish down the east fork a bit. Even had our own tubes to ride down the river by the cabin. We had a busy week and still had time to relax. The owner Jim and I only spoke on the phone a couple times, but he was very helpful and informative. He will answer all the questions you have and was very nice. My family thanks you and so do I.

A perfect place, listening to the water run over the rocks winding it's way through the beautiful sceanic view. I spent most of time on the porch with my book while my husband walked down to the river and fished. Our evenings were spent cooking on the grill and talking. The trouthouse is a delightful place. Each time we visit I notice all the special touches in the house that make this a wonderful place to relax and enjoy. Thank Jim for sharing.

Peaceful getaway

  • 4 of 5

We spent a week at the Riverside cottage in August while attending the final week of Brevard Music Center concerts. It is about a half hour into Brevard. The guys fished just across the road - unfortunately not the best time for trout but they enjoyed the great river. Walking must be done along the winding road with little shoulder. There are, no trails around that we found. The house is lovely and so well appointed. However, it has only one bath and no a/c on the bedroom levels. Fans are provided and since we were only downstairs at night, that was sufficient despite the high temperatures. The owner was very responsive - we arrived a day early and were able to arrange to take possession early with no problem. He called to be sure everything was ok. We will go back again. We did check out the other two cottages but they are in a different area much further away - it would be too far from Brevard for us and the water there is merely a small stream. But they would be fine if you wanted a place to escape to and just stay there.

Serene Cottage

  • 4 of 5

What a wonderful piece of paradise tucked away in beauty and earthly surroundings. A comfortable cottage in combination with the sounds of the river makes one step back in time and enjoy peacefulness and serenity. Clean and well decorated, such a plus for a city girl....but it really wouldn't have mattered. Enjoying God's countless creations....what this trip was all about. Fly fishing was certainly a sport since we had to buy fish from Ingles! LOL All was good. If you need internet, be patient. If you need a big TV, bring one. If you need peace and quiet, this is the place for you! Thank you Jim. Looking for another enjoyable stay in the near future. Fish included, right?

The house was outstanding. Very nice and well equipped for cooking, inside and out. We had wonderful dinners over our six night stay. Sitting on the beautiful screened porch listening to the river was the best part. There is something wrong with the chaise lounge on the porch. Every time I sat in it, the chair made me doze off! While our son fished, my wife and I made numerous excursions - hikes at DuPont State Park, pottery shopping, downtown Brevard and Sierra Nevada Brewery. My son had more luck fishing the East Fork River in front of the house than the renown Davidson River. Just a 3/4 mile walk from the house is a 5' high waterfall. We read our books on a rock and watched the kids play in the waterfall. Very relaxing vacation. Highly recommended.

Quiet Clean ,adequate to luxury ammenities, well managed, great access to river for fly fishing

  • 4 of 5

My wife and I would recommend for a quiet and restful get away to recheck from the everyday stresses of Life and work. We stayed for 6 days and fly fished for 6 days. We cooked all meals @ cottage and wandered off the mountain only twice for supplies and roadside picnics. The outdoor grill made it a pleasure cooking out and we nightly took advantage of.
