Wonderful beach front home

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed at this house recently and we loved it. There is a path right next to the house for access to the beach.or behind the home.

The home is layed out perfectly. Four large bedrooms. Decking around the entire home.

I had 5 kids ranging from 14-22 my husband and my mom. The home offers lots of light. You look directly at the ocean and from the top floor you can see the bay too. Kids spent days at the beach surfing ans swimming. My mom walked for miles up and down the beach

The family room is beautifully constructed......

Beaches are pristine. This was our first time at this side of the outerbanks and we loved it!!!!

The owner of the home was very easy to work with and extremely helpful This was my first time renting through vacation by owner and I would do it again....

Owner's Response: We are thankful, as we always are, that folks that rent either of our two waterfront cottages, utilize the whole place, including the hot tubs and decks and porches and viewing decks and rooms to fully appreciate the layout of each place and the splendid views We had just finished major work on the house redoing the deck joints and replacing over a dozen windows and glad that these people, who were very nice, got to enjoy the place and had good weather We are booked solid for the summer but look forward to the fall season where folks like to walk on the beach and enjoy the cool breezes in the evening....a special time with plenty of good food and scenery to enjoy.

Great week!

  • 5 of 5

The Carolina Clipper provided our extended family a wonderful week of fun and relaxation. The home was spacious, clean and a very well supplied kitchen with everything you could need to prepare a feast every day. There was plenty of bathroom space for a large group. We had great space to gather as a family as well as retreat to privacy when wanted. We watched every sunrise either from the captain's watch or on the beach just a short walk out the door. We watched the dolphins, played games, read on the deck, played in the waves, walked the beach, visited local restaurants and places of historical significance, took hang gliding lessons, etc. The beach was beautiful and the waves very fun without anything hurting your feet. There are many, many things nearby to explore: eating, hang gliding, various water sports, shopping, strolling through quaint towns, etc. Above everything, the owner Jim was great to deal with. Very patient with questions, quick to answer and happy to give suggestions to make your stay the best it can be. We loved our stay in Outer Banks and would go back to the Carolina Clipper if ever traveling there again. Our group ranged from age 17-86 and was perfect for all.

Owner's Response: We are so glad these folks had a wonderful time...they were due to arrive at the house just a day or so after the hurricane and they were accommodating and nice about everything having driven from Michigan....the house did not suffer any damage and the weather cleared to provide a glorious week for them. We thank them sincerely and hope they will visit us again.

Great for large groups!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Carolina Clipper during August 18-26 and had a wonderful time! Highlights of the house for us were the great room (kitchen/family room area) and the deck. The Carolina Clipper is a terrific choice for groups that need separate bedrooms but want to spend their daytime hours hanging out together. Everything was in perfect working order, even the hot tub, which is usually a hit or miss at vacation rentals. Also, the owner was extremely helpful in suggesting activities in the area and in helping us extend our stay. One suggestion for the neighborhood as a whole -- if there is a way to keep the paths to the beach from flooding when there is heavy rain that would be great. All in all, a wonderful vacation property!

Owner's Response: We are delighted that the group who stayed in August had such a good time....we try to insure that everything works as it should and try to help renters by suggesting things to do based on the make up of thier group... They were very nice people and we were pleased to have our cottage be thier home away from home for a week

Beautiful House with beautiful views!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a wonderful week at the Carolina Clipper. The house was large and accomodating for my whole family, including 3 small children and 2 dogs. The deck off the living room with the hottub was where we spent most of our time (if we weren't on the beach) and the view from ther was beautiful. From there we saw families of little jack rabbits in the dunes, which was a surprise. But we also could see the sunrise at dawn and the amazing constellations at night from there. It was absolutely beautiful! One word of advise... when walking to the beach, stay on the sandy path! There are crazy, thorny cactus plants just inches from the path, so keep your eyes peeled. Also, if you go to the beach in the early hours before the sun gets too hot, bring shoes with you!! The sand will scald your feet later in the day, mark my words! The only gripe I have about this amazing house is that there is no recycling service. We're very "green" people and it was really hard to put all our bottles and cans into the landfill trashcans... Other than that it was absolutely perfect! And the owners, with whom I corresponded extensively before our arrival, seem to be wonderful people as well. I highly recommend the Carolina Clipper! Enjoy your vacation!!!

Owner's Response: We are so glad that they had a wonderful vacation. It is a special place with amazing views of the ocean, island and Sound. Funny about the jackrabbits...there are families of ghost crabs on the beach at night as well. Sorry about the recycling service, we have to use what is available on the island and hope that in the future the company will offer such service. Our heartfelt thanks to the renters and we communicated a lot with them to insure things went well.

Great Spot on Quiet Beach

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from this great home and wanted to say THANK YOU for a great visit. The house is great with easy access to the beach and a great view of the ocean. We brought along our three daughters and found the outside shower (with hot and cold water!) to be a big help with our little ones after returning from the beach. We also liked the fact that the bedrooms are all on the same floor so that we were never too far away from the kids - yet still had peace and privacy of our own. We loved star gazing from the deck at night while listening to the sounds of the waves crashing below. It was so clear we could see the Milky Way! The beach is one of the most beautiful we've seen. Even on the busy Memorial Weekend holiday it was almost empty, and the surf break was incredible with an actual pipeline!!! There were also great sandbar/shallow areas for the kids to play safely so everyone was happy. The owner was gracious and helpful. We will definitely be back!

Owner's Response: We are grateful for the splendid review. The place and the beach are special for us and lots of our renters some of who come back following years. Nighttime is also special for the open panorama of stars which one does not see normally ( the island is 25 miles from the mainland ) at home and if one has a NASA chart you can track the space station and other orbiting satellites as they come over. One of the most spectacular phenomena is watching a storm at sea at night with the lightning, the billowing dark clouds and the rushing surf being driven ashore. We continue to try and improve the cottage and hope that others will give it a try.
