About Janna Ritz

We love to fix up homes and bring back the beautty! I have years of experience in my work as an interior designer. I have a dog, Betty, she loves the country! We fenced in and gated much of the area around the house just for her. Woodstock is such a great community, we love it there.

Janna Ritz purchased this cottage in 2005

Why Janna Ritz chose Catskills

Woodstock is what I call an island in the country. Its full of city people that have come to the country, and with them they have brought the arts, music and nature appreciation. this is a non judgemental community, its wonderful. I also call it a commune but we all have our own homes to go to. we meet up in the restaurants like its one big dinner party, or at the bearsville theater or on the hike to overlook. we gather together to help each other when in need, to raise funds when one is in trouble due to a house burning down, or when one does not have the insurance coverage for their illness. you feel the goodness instantly.

What makes this cottage unique

The views in the morning from the masterbedroom bed are so romantic. sometimes one can see the family of deer looking for some berries. while hanging in the hammock, you cant believe what nature passes by! To go swimming in the lake is so refreshing. To just take a quick drive down the road to the Bearsville theater, you cant believe what music shows up there!

Great property in beautiful area

  • 5 of 5

We had a really lovely weekend here. Beautiful house, good kitchen, etc. Very easy to access with a code. As in the house description, one of the double beds is an air bed, which isn't ideal; the rest are all great though.

Owner's Response: HI there, thanks for you great review! and honesty. and glad you all had a good time. In the 11+ years that I have been renting that home on this website,i have never heard a complaint about that bed. and yes,it is in the description as a 'queen' double height bed. the house is over 100 years old, and the only bed we were able place in there for comfort was this air bed. I actually have had many good comments about it from my friends and family and renters who have slept in there.Sorry it was not to your complete liking. But we do hope you will come back to visit!! janna

Quiet rustic retreat with modern comfort

  • 5 of 5

Very cool cottage with soaring timber framed great room, old stone fireplace, and antique heart pine flooring throughout. The kitchen and bathrooms have tastefully modernized fixtures while keeping the vintage feel of the cottage. The beds were very comfortable and the property was quiet at night. We enjoyed the firepit in the front yard and the visit from a family of bears outside the fence, climbing a nearby tree. The mountain views and the forest setting were great. The proximity to a grocery store in Boiceville allowed us to stock up on groceries to make good use of the well-equipped kitchen. My family really enjoyed our stay and would return if we are in the area again.

Amazing cabin!

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect cabin in the woods to meet up with a group of friends. The fireplace is cozy and the kitchen is fun to cook in. Everything you need in the kitchen and bathrooms were fully stocked. Jana was extremely helpful with anything we needed. I would recommend this cabin for any large group!

Perfect getaway

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I stayed at this lovely cabin over a very bitter cold weekend. It was the perfect retreat to cozy up in all day long. The fire kept us warm, we shared many laughs, & created wonderful memories. I couldn't have asked for a better (much needed) getaway!

Janna was fantastic! She was attentive and prompt in responding. We even got a phone call from her checking in to make sure we enjoy our stay just as we were packing up to head home. Thank you for providing such lovely accommodations!

Charming, cozy & perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Our group had such a great time the cabin. Many laughs were had and so many memories were made. Frigid temperatures made going out side near impossible, but we weren't upset in the least since we had such a cozy place to enjoy!
