The house is a work of love, and it shows.

We have just installed a whole new air conditioning system into the house for your summer comfort! the two bedrooms upstairs have separate a/c window units. Woodstock in the summer is all about the swim holes! And we are right near and close walk to Wilson state park that has a Great Lake and trails. you can rent canoe and kayaks there too and its great for cross country skiing and snow showing as well.

The very private and romantic master bedroom has a queen bed, and a great view up the mountain with double French doors to the patio with small fire pit, and then that leads either up the hill to the double hammock and then further to a plataeu with seating and views. Back on the patio to a gate that leads one to the fenced in garden area with large fire pit and vege garden and lots of seating. Another bedroom has two twin beds on the first floor. Downstairs lower level is a huge couch and a large smart TV, and easy access to outside so its a great spot to drop off skis and boots. Upstairs the third bedroom has a brand new queen bed and deep window seat. The 4th bedroom has a new double bed with full view of my mountain, all new mattresses. In the season we have several seating and relaxing areas on the property including hammock, lounge chairs and seating and dining, plus two fire pits for your use.

There is nothing like hanging out in the Living room ,looking out the 11' foot artists window and see the mountain view, getting that roaring fire happening, and reading or relaxing.

Walk 10 min to the swim lake, *and rent canoe and kayaks. We are 4 miles to the village of Woodstock

Visit the largest traditional Tibetan Monastery in the US, climb the beautiful Overlook Mountain or take a dip in one of the numerous water holes in the area.

The fall is absolutely gorgeous, and the Woodstock Film Festival always attracts a crowd. This is also a great time to enjoy apple picking, pumpkin carving and the wonderful foliage of the Catskills Mountains.

The winter offers plenty...Hunter Mountain is a skiers' paradise. Bellayre, Windham Mountain or Plattekill are also nearby. There's great sledding right in town on the aptly named Sled Hill. The iconic Town of Woodstock comes alive with lights over the holidays and is very picturesque. We also have snow shoes for your use, and its great across the way at wilson park for that as well as cross country skiing on their trails.

The areas beautiful lakes, mountains, rivers, restaurants, shopping and cultural scene provide plenty to do whatever time of the year you visit, but you may just want to stay at your beautiful rental home and relax by the fire.

About Janna Ritz

We love to fix up homes and bring back the beautty! I have years of experience in my work as an interior designer. I have a dog, Betty, she loves the country! We fenced in and gated much of the area around the house just for her. Woodstock is such a great community, we love it there.

Janna Ritz purchased this cottage in 2005

Why Janna Ritz chose New York

Woodstock is what I call an island in the country. Its full of city people that have come to the country, and with them they have brought the arts, music and nature appreciation. this is a non judgemental community, its wonderful. I also call it a commune but we all have our own homes to go to. we meet up in the restaurants like its one big dinner party, or at the bearsville theater or on the hike to overlook. we gather together to help each other when in need, to raise funds when one is in trouble due to a house burning down, or when one does not have the insurance coverage for their illness. you feel the goodness instantly.

the house is the last of the artist style homes along this road from woodstock. I loved the 12' floor to ceiling stone fireplace, and the 11 foot window in the main room, and that i what drew me to this diamond in the rough. i knew that i could make this shine. Also, the location is such the you feel like your way out in the country, but only less than 10 min to the village by car.

What makes this cottage unique

The views in the morning from the masterbedroom bed are so romantic. sometimes one can see the family of deer looking for some berries. while hanging in the hammock, you cant believe what nature passes by! To go swimming in the lake is so refreshing. To just take a quick drive down the road to the Bearsville theater, you cant believe what music shows up there!

Tranquility and Style

  • 5 of 5

It's rare to find a place where comfort and style are equally matched, especially in such a beautiful setting, and photos cannot fully convey the atmosphere of this charming cottage. We felt at home from the moment we arrived. The master bedroom was so comfortable, and the attached den was the perfect spot to binge watch our favorite shows. The view from the great room was spectacular, and the kitchen had every convenience. Our dog particularly loved the fenced in yard. Janna is meticulous in ensuring all aspects of the rental are handled with the utmost hospitality, and she provided excellent recommendations on local restaurants. We can't wait to come back!

Serenity and tranquillity

  • 5 of 5

With a large family and the normal hustle and bustle, we needed a place designed for relaxation and we found it here. Nights were spent outside near the firepit with a glass of wine, playing board games and days either relaxing outside or inside near the large window. We walked to the nearby lake and drove into Woodstock. Although we didn't cook during our stay, the kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, etc. Bring tick repellant!!! Definitely will be back.

Loved it!

  • 5 of 5

The pictures don't do it justice -- once you see the house in person you will appreciate the lovely little details and care that went into making this house a warm and inviting place. It is also exceptionally clean -- my dog likes to hunt dust bunnies and he was sad to find none here.

We took full advantage of the kitchen. The kitchen was fully equipped with a variety of pots, trays, cutting boards and other essentials. All you need are groceries! The owner shares their salt, pepper and sugar but you should probably bring everything else.

The gated front yard was great for our dogs to run around in. They truly had a blast and so did the humans. We sat around the fire pit and sipped mulled wine which we had made in the kitchen. Also, the indoor fireplace was very nice and cozy.

The owner provides a binder full of information you'll need. Janna was also very responsive and generous from beginning to end. Highly recommend this place! We will be back!

We were celebrating a 40th birthday and we loved this place because of the ambiance and sophistication. We are all past our party days and wanted a warm home with a lovely fireplace with high quality goods ...beds, dishware..furniture etc.

the owners were communicative and kind. Everyone loved their stay and we would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Cozy, convenient, beautiful... we loved it!

  • 5 of 5

I met up with a group of college friends for a weekend of hiking and reminiscing. The house was perfect for us. It slept everyone comfortably. The great room provided us with all the space we needed to reenact the Big Chill, and we thoroughly enjoyed the cozy blankets, sofas and beds. The bathrooms and kitchen were clean, cozy and easy to figure out. All of the trinkets and musical instruments around the house offered us a lot of entertainment. We chose the place because it was dog friendly, but it would be great for those who don't travel with pets. Within a short drive from the house we found great hiking, shopping and restaurants. I can't wait to go back! Thank you for helping to make our reunion so great!

Lovely home, setting beautiful.

  • 4 of 5

The home was beautifully outfitted and decorated. Kitchen nicely equipped. The 'secret' walk to the nearby park was a joyful experience. Back patio serene and quiet. Especially loved the tiny pond. Chair pads would have made seating there more comfortable. We had super-warm weather, so, central air would have helped. The TVs did NOT work and, altho the owner tried to fix the problem, we weren't able to watch the important news events of the week. Aside from this, our only complaint was that the tone of the documents that instructed us about the use house were off-putting. If it were my home, I'd re-write them to sound more welcoming.

Owner's Response: Gee Jacqueline, sorry you have a few minor issues here. However, between the TV ( after several texts late at night to me, and phone calls, my caretakers drove 1/2 hour out to you to show you in person how to use the smart tv), and our a/c it is stated very clearly in the description the we only have smart tv, no cable, and we only have three a/c units, there is no central air condition system. as to our patio furniture sorry if you feel they needed pad,s, but they are standard and classic arirdondack furnishings. Our house book is simple and to the point, as we have found that any more details or fluff, causes some people to not read all the information and we have had problems with that. This website offers an app with the information too. I thank you for all the rest of the positive review. we hope you will come back to the woodstock area sometime, and that you did enjoy the town.
