This is our 4th stay, awesome as ususal!
This was our 4th stay there are 10 of us and we had a wonderful time as usual. The cabin is always clean and has everything you need. Not like those cabins at the outfitters, they have nothing and you have to pack up your whole kitchen and take with you and your bed sheets. Hinch Creek has a fully stocked kitchen and all the linens you need. There are ceiling fans in every room, very nice during the summer. Then to top it all off Sam and Nora are the nicest hosts ever!! Thanks for another great stay.
Get away from it all.
Great stay. Plenty of room for our large family. The cabin is fairly secluded and far from town. There is no signal, great chance to get the kids off screens. The owners and a 2nd cabin are nearby but it still feels private. The owners keep bees and there are goats out front that our children really enjoyed. Wish we had more time to explore.
Hinch Creek Lodge
Very nice cabin. Clean and comfortable beds. The hosts were extremely pleasant, and the goats and beehives provided lots of fun and a learning experience to the 7-year-old traveling with us. The road in to the cabins (there are 2 cabins and we stayed in the larger one) was pretty slow going, and the cabins are a long way from anything. If you don't want to be close to entertainment and/or shops and just want to chill, this is a wonderful place to stay.
Good place - unknown rules
The place is great, although there is only one bathroom for 10 people and with the exception of the heater which is very loud and right next to a bed.
We made a fire and had marshmallows and even cooked beans on the fire but we were punished (on the refund) for burning wood that we did NOT know we were not allowed to burn.
Good place to stay, not too much to do during the winter time besides being inside and being careful with the wood you find to make a fire.
We found a great church in Bourbon, where we spent New Year's Eve. That was a PLUS for us!!! Thank you!!!
We do not usually provide firewood for a campfire on the property. We do allow guests to gather any down and dead wood from our wooded area's here.
But, we are always producing cedar wooden posts from the forest for fence post repairs. We do not allow taking and burning obviously prepared logs in a campfire.
So if you are anticipating having a large campfire we suggest you bring the wood needed with you. Also, campfire wood can be purchased in Bourbon.
Bourbon and the other towns in the area are small but treasures can be found and enjoyed.
Quiet and beautiful
This was one of the best places to stay for us. The Off-road park near by and the River floating was close which gave us a good time to spend with our grown kids. Sam was very kind.
This was a beautiful property. The drive out is scenic and roads are easily followed. The cabin was very clean and beds were comfy. Everything you needed plus more was available. Sam and Nora are great hosts, very friendly, and we enjoyed all of our interactions with them. There are goats to pet, a creek to explore, trails to walk on and a fire pit for smores. Thank you so much for opening your place to us and making us feel welcome. God Bless you both.
We are located just 10 miles off Interstate I-44 and just 70 miles from St. Louis, Missouri. Six Flags theme park is within an easy drive. Taste the local grapes at any of the many world famous Missouri wineries located just a few miles 'down the road'. Missouri is called the 'Cave State' and there are several close by to explore! Maybe you yearn to hop on a horse and experience the Missouri Ozarks in this unique way. Trail rides can be arranged locally. Float the local lazy rivers on canoes or rafts. Or hike the many acres of woods and fields on the many trails in the area.
