About Jeanne Marie Curtis
A retired teacher, I returned from Colorado to the land where I grew up, our family's farm since 1868. I've enjoyed refurbishing this home where my father was born, where my brother and I grew up and where my children and now grandchildren and dozens of cousins visit and love. Meeting and creating great experiences for my guests is a joy!
What makes this House unique

Quiet location with lots of history
We chose this property as we didn’t want to stay in the city and it’s close to my family. It’s a scenic location with lots of outdoor space for our three year old to play. The fire pit was already set up, which made it easy for making s’mores when the local family came to visit. Jeanne was very communicative and even stopped by after we arrived to introduce herself and give us some history on the property. I highly recommend this property if you like peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
This was a great location! Served as a base camp for my family to attend brother's wedding in Glenwood/reception in Malvern. Jeanne was exceptional in making sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay! It is a historical home with great family history, so enjoy the charm of well maintained original woodwork, built-ins, pocket doors, and squeaky hardwood floors : ). Kitchen is smaller (1-2 people cooking is plenty) but has all the appliances needed, and the dining room and table are large enough to seat 8 easily. We weren't there long enough to need the washer/dryer, but it's also available. 4 of the sleeping areas are upstairs-- which worked well for us, but if someone in your group has bad knees, you'll want to put them in the queen bedroom on the main floor. We utilized all of the beds-- and everyone commented on how comfy the beds were!! Well stocked with extra pillows and bedding. Large yard and nearby conservation/wooded areas for kids and adults to explore! Even a fire pit area for evening s'mores and a porch swing! We enjoyed a great lunch in Malvern (about a 12 min drive) at the Classic Cafe on the west side of main street-- more vintage charm, even a retired music teacher playing piano during the noon hour. Reasonable prices, big servings, and wonderful overall atmosphere in another well maintained vintage building. Cell service in the home can be limited, but a landline is provided, and basic wifi, so you can still keep in touch if needed. Would absolutely stay again!
We had a wedding weekend in Omaha and decided we would rather stay in a house in the country instead of a couple of hotel rooms in town and boy did we make the right choice! This place is beautiful and it's spotless. Very well appointed - it has everything you need. If I could give it more than 5 stars if I could. Had a great time and can't wait to come back to Iowa.
Wonderful weekend getaway
Beautiful house out in the country for a peaceful weekend getaway! This was our second time here, Jeanne and Gary are such hospitable, wonderful hosts and thought of everything to make this a comfortable, welcoming stay for my women's bible study group!
Basketball Nationals Weekend
The house was amazing! We loved being able to spend the days in town and coming to the peaceful country in the evenings. We cooked out on the grill and enjoyed the fire pit at night. The kids enjoyed the creek beside the house had some fun fishing in our down time. We would definitely come back when we are up that way again! Thank you for everything!
Would do it again in a heartbeat!
Our family enjoyed the peaceful relaxing setting. It brought back so many memories and created some new ones. Everything was exactly as promised. I would not hesitate to recommend this property to any family that just wants a beautiful setting to be a family!
Thank you, it was a delight to meet and host your lovely family!
