Holden Beach Townhome Rental Photos and Description

2 BR, 2 BA, Sleeps 4+

Sunny blue and yellow decor welcome you to this Holden Beach cottage. Refreshing views of the ocean and intra-coastal waterway abound, with plenty of decks and seating for viewing with ease. 'Holden Sol' sits on a quiet street that is one avenue behind Ocean Boulevard and the ocean. For those familiar with Holden, it is across from the 'Marker 55' community fronting the Intracoastal Waterway.

Bikes and beach chairs, as well as beach toys and rafts are all there. Linens can be rented before arrival. There are two full bathrooms plus a large enclosed outside shower. Beds include 2 twins, 1 queen. 'Holden Sol' is well appointed with kitchen amenities, washer dryer, dishwasher, etc. A favorite part of the house is the rooftop deck for sunsets and moon rises!

It is truly 'Away from it all!'

Our home is positioned with open lots both front and back, so views are plentiful. Beach access is optimal. The beach is close enough that guests go back to the house several times a day. (To make lunch, get drinks, put a baby down for a nap, etc,)

Holden Beach is situated 40 minutes South of Wilmington and 45 miles North of Myrtle Beach. It is a short drive to historic Southport, NC and the ferry to Bald Head Island, as well as other coastal North Carolina attractions.

This is a small, well appointed two bedroom duplex just across the street from direct beach access. There are two bathrooms. 'Holden Sol' can easily accommodate 4 people. Beach chairs, kayak, beach toys, and other amenities are available for your use. Porches allow for your private relaxation in and out of the sunshine. An outside shower, hammock chair and bench swing under the back deck help keep the summer heat away.

For those less familiar with Holden Beach, the island is truly 'sleepy' with 2 and 3 story homes and little commercial activity on island. From our home, it is an easy bike ride to the store for provisions, daily newspaper or fresh fish, clams or shrimp for dinner. Similarly, its a short bike ride to 'The Chapel' on Holden, an interdenominational church. In the Summer, there are often weekly events, including concerts and dancing, sponsored by the Town of Holden Beach. Biking up with chairs and a cooler is a great change of pace.

If you're looking for an uncrowded beach experience, Holden Beach is exceptionally well placed. And, subjectively, we think 'Holden Sol' is, too.

Why Lynda and Matt Nolan chose Coastal North Carolina

'Holden Sol' on Holden Beach has been our home & refuge 'Away from it all' for many years. It has a relaxing pace that makes it hard to leave. (*You'll see.)

Holden Beach island, itself, is charming beach community with uncrowded beaches and easy water access to both beach and intracoastal waterway. It's so relaxed it's 'sleepy'. Annually, the island is recognized as one of the best family beaches in the nation including by AAA, National Geographic Smart Traveler and American Profile magazines.

We simply love it. We hope you will, as well.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I recently spent a week at 'Holden Sol' with my wife,19 year old daughter and her friend. This property was everything described in the listing and more. The entire process was seamless and smooth...couldn't have been any easier. The Holden Beach information provided by the Nolans was most helpful in getting our bearings and finding our way. Beach access was close and easy, shells were plentiful and crowds were nonexistent. We particularly enjoyed the undeveloped lot facing the ocean from the back deck. It provided a bustling little nature preserve to observe with morning coffee. The crow's nest was a cool and breezy evening retreat. Although a duplex, with easy communication with neighbors if needed, it was just as easy to feel we were the only ones there. Local seafood was readily available and we enjoyed a delicious dinner a Captain Pete's. I spent a great day fishing from the nearby pier, while the girls browsed local shops. Myrtle Beach proved a doable day-trip, allowing the younger set to kick it up a notch minus the "old folks". All in all, this was the best, most relaxing vacation my family has had in more than 10 years. We instantly felt right at home and all returned to "reality", refreshed and invigorated. I would heartily recommend this property to anyone looking for a slower paced, high R&R beach vacation. Hats off to the Nolans for creating and sharing their "little piece of heaven"... "Holden Sol."

Great Location

  • 5 of 5

Had a wonderful time here. The owners were so responsive and great to communicate with. The place was exactly as described. It took only about a minute and a half to get to the beach, it was super close. I loved the outdoor shower and the deck facing the ocean, as well as the bench and small deck on top of the roof!

Wonderful Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5

We were very blessed with this vacation home on our trip to Holden Beach. Everything was just as described online. Having the grill, bicycles, and things for the beach in the shed were great for our family. The location is convenient to the beach and the beach in our area was not crowded at all. We enjoyed the seafood in some of the area's restaurants. We did not find a lot of "vacation things" to do in and around Holden Beach but we would recommend a day trip to Wilmington to see the USS North Carolina. It is a self-guided tour but well worth the money as they let you go everywhere on this ship. We thank the Nolan's for their hospitality. They were easy to work with and everything was very organized and explained which we appreciated.

Owner's Response: That's a great idea about Wilmington and a day trip to the battleship. We will add that to "Things to Do."

Enjoyed our stay. This house is close by the beach. Good communication with the owners. Quiet and peaceful place for a vacation. Kitchen well furnished. The only problem we experienced was not being able to connect to the Internet.

Great Beach Rental at Holden Sol

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week at Holden Sol. The property is right across from the beach and we had a view of the ocean from the deck. Everything is clean and comfortable and we would definitely stay there again. The owners are very attentive to details and very responsive to emails prior to the vacation. Thanks for a great week!

Great Experience

  • 5 of 5

My family (myself, husband, 12 year old and 8 year old) stayed at Holden Sol for a partial week. It was the perfect rental for us. Plenty of space, great location and lots of amenities. The property is exactly as shown in the listing and just right for a family of 4. All the beach chairs, beach toys, grill, bikes etc. that we had access to at this property were a great bonus. The owners were extremely helpful and communication was excellent from the very beginning all the way through. They sent lots of information to us about Holden Beach which was a great help as we had never been there before. We would definitely rent this property again. Thanks for everything!

Holden Beach (HB) is a quiet island located on the southeast coast of North Carolina just 45 minutes north of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and 40 minutes south of Wilmington, NC. Holden Beach island is 9 miles in length and offers secluded white sandy beaches. HB has a well deserved national reputation as a quiet, family-oriented vacation destination with restrictions on development. National Geographic 'Traveler' magazine and AAA have rated Holden Beach one of the best family beaches in the country. The island has a 35-foot height limit for buildings, and most of the commercial property is on the mainland side of the Intra-Coastal Waterway. Holden Beach has a unique location on the US East coast (the beaches run from east to west), the sun appears to rise out of the ocean and follow over the dunes of the beach before it sets back into the ocean in the evening. This phenomenon is best viewed during the fall and winter months of the year.

Other Activities: Terrific for readers, bikers and families looking for quality downtime.

Golf: Conveniently located and close to spectacular beaches, there are many courses within a 10 mile radius, including Lockwood Folly and The National. The Big Cats of Ocean Ridge Plantation are close by, as well. All three of these Cats made Golf Digest’s recent list of the Top 50 Courses of Myrtle Beach and the challenging Tiger’s Eye® ranked #3.
