About the property

Lakefront Camp Surronded by Mountains and Views

Our guests love the 4 season rustic style of the camp, the views and the location. We are located directly on North Pond a few feet from the water’s edge; right where you belong.

Scenic family vacation camp with oil heat, fireplace and kitchen. Enjoy the panoramic views through the all glass wall. Walk down the backstairs and you're a few feet from the sandy beach. Step over to the spacious dock with Adirondack chairs to relax in. Read, sip beverages or simply do nothing from the dock and yard. There's an outdoor fire pit too. Anglers land perch, large and smallmouth bass. Hiking is abundant. It’s an outdoor haven!

Outside, the back yard has plenty of space to play and cookout. The dock is a nice size with Adirondack chairs. Our sandy beach is perfect for everyone, especially younger children. It’s shallow and sandy all around the dock. Kids and dogs play here all day.

Inside, the camp has welcoming views of the pond and mountains. The main floor features a full kitchen with an island and chairs plus a nice sitting area central to the place. The living room has a fire place.

Upstairs has 1 large community type bedroom including 1 queen plus 3 twin beds that will sleep 5. In the basement, which is unfinished, are 2 bunk beds that sleep 4. There's also a futon and couch. It's perfect for kids to have their own space.

We do have the internet with Wi-Fi. We do not have cable TV. But the TV does have an HDMI connection. So our guests can stream videos from their device to the TV. There's also a DVD and VCR player with plenty of videos. Plus there's a host of classic board games like Scrabble and Yahtzee. Enjoy!

Sunday River Ski Resort, in the town of Bethel, is 15 minutes away. Mt Abram is 5 minutes away.

The camp was clean and charming. Kenny was great at communicating with us. We didn't want to leave! Excellent place to get away.

Wonderful location, happy family camp, great for people with dogs!

  • 5 of 5

We visited for a three night/two day stay so we could ski at Sunday River (20 minutes away). Mt. Abrams is even closer but we did not ski there. We were a family with a dog, and the place was perfect and welcoming, even with the four feet of snow outside! It was all shoveled and easy to get in. The kitchen was well-supplied with pots and pans and everything we could need, and the house was obviously well-loved with art and history of those who have spent many a summer there.

The lake was frozen and our kids went out to explore the islands. We watched two movies in the DVD and it was really great. The heat worked fine for the main floor and the upstairs but the downstairs was very cold even with the heat up. Our kids had wanted to sleep down there in the fun bunk beds but it was simply too cold.

Place was clean and comfortable. My only complaints (and they are tiny and not worth changing from a five star) is that linens and towels are not included in the rental. Our car was pretty stuffed full with ski gear and dog, and to take the extra towels and sheets was not great. I would suggest heading down to the local Walmart, buying a bunch of cheap towels and sheets and including that in the rental. Or upcharging $5 for linens and towels. I would have paid it! There were also not a lot of blankets so if you ran cold, it was a little iffy. To me, it seems like it's a summer place that is great for winter IF you bring your own warmies. Yeah, okay, I do run cold.

I hope to see this place one day in the summer--I would love to come back. Thanks so much!

Great view of the frozen lake

  • 5 of 5

We stayed during the Christmas week, having driven from the south with two kids to play in the snow. This is a comfortable, warm, well-kept and picturesque (inside and out) little house in a beautiful setting. We had a fantastic view of the frozen lake, with islands, from everywhere in the house through picture windows; one morning a fox walked across the lake to kids' excitement. A nice wood fireplace was used every evening. The shower is a bit cramped, but usable. Importantly for winter travel, we had a 15" snowfall the night before our departure, but the town very efficiently cleaned all public roads in early morning, so we had no problem getting out (after shoveling the short driveway, while kids played in fresh snow).

The big Sunday River ski resort is a 15-minute drive. There is a smaller place, Mt. Abram, just 5 minutes away, where lift tickets to the beginners' part of the mountain cost half, with no lift lines, a magic-carpet lift, and the slopes that are more than the beginners need (though check their schedule -- they may not be open full week outside the holiday season. They also have less snow than Sunday River.) Sledding tip: the school at Church St. in Bethel has an icy hill for kids with sleds; it is free and has a mountain view for parents to enjoy. We also did cross-country skiing and snow-shoeing (from a skiing shop off the main road leading to Bethel); the winter forest setting was fairy-tale. On the other hand, the late-evening horse-sleigh ride from the Bethel Inn wasn't quite as interesting. We didn't have time to try snowcatting and, heading home, were envious of those riding Arctic Cats across the fields of deep fresh snow -- this is left for next winter.

The supermarket on Bethel's main street has everything (including wine). The bakery shop on that street, "Di Cocoa," has very good cappuccino and artisan pastry; try their apple-raspberry pie, and do get your caffeine fix there before heading back home, because the next espresso machine may be hours away.

Cozy and great Location

  • 5 of 5

Great location. Owner suggested Mt. Abrams and we took his advise. Saved us $240.00 on lift tickets. Very clean and cozy. No cable so bring board games. Our family enjoyed our stay and would return...

Great location to the White Mountains.

I guess if we had the entire family with us, in the summer, the Love Shack would have been more suitable. The love shack is definately a camp. Nothing fancy but it certainly has a charm. The best part about the camp is the view.
