Beautiful two-level lakefront house located at Lake Waccamaw. This cozy 5 bedroom, 3 baths home is within an hour from Wilmington and numerous beaches including, Southport, Ocean Isle and Myrtle Beach. This house has a private pier and dock perfect for lounging or entertaining. There is also a sandy beach area perfect for the kids to play.
After spending the day fishing, swimming, bike riding, or strolling along the various nature trails, you can relax on the pier while viewing the breathtaking sunsets. It will truly be a memorable experience.
We stayed here with our 9 disabled children. Had a great time, spent alot of time in the water and didn't have to worry about the kids safety. We chose a change of pace from normally going to the beaches to try something different. Was very happy with the house and area and would come back in the future.
This was our 5th year renting this lovely house for our annual trip. Rented it the first year because of size and price, but have kept coming back because of the location, accommodations and the owners. We usually have between 10 and 12 people throughout the week are there since I have family in the area, and that includes two small children and we all love the place. Plenty of room for everyone and for the kids to play. The owners are great people and another reason we look forward to going to the lake every year. Convenient to grocery and dollar stores, and Wilmington, Whiteville, and Myrtle Beach all close by as well.
I booked a long "guys getaway" weekend trip with people traveling from all over the country, and the weekend couldn't have gone better. We had a special request (order the PPV boxing match) that the owner could have easily said "no, not feasible" and it would have been completely understandable, but instead he went to the trouble of acquiring a cable box just for that, calling the cable company on speakerphone in our presence to confirm the fight was ordered, and even securing a backup tv in case the one in the house didn't work (it worked great by the way). He also made sure we had a grill (even had charcoal there for us) and gave some tips on fishing the lake! That kind of personal attention is greatly appreciated and really put the trip over the top.
As far as the location goes, we were very pleasantly surprised at how close by some key staples were (grocery store, Family Dollar, etc within 2 miles). One can't say enough about the beauty of the lake, most everyone on the trip commented that they'd love to come back and bring their family.
All in all, a great place to stay for a large group, or even a medium sized group that just likes a little extra space to spread out.
Wonderful place. Great people. Large groups can easily fit in this home away from home. So appreciated all the helpful information. Was nice to be able to bring our dogs while we were away for a family get together/event. Would definitely come back next year if we attend the same event.
This house is great for a big group of friends or a large family.
The beds were suprisingly comfy (even the bunk beds) and the home was very clean upon our arrival. The 2-story dock was older, but safe, and we had a great time laying out and floating around in the lake. The owner provided us with a canoe and paddles so that we could explore a bit further.
The kitchen table is nice and big and the living room had plenty of seating for all 14 folks in our party.
The owners live close to the rental and were very attentive to our needs. They came by on our first day and made sure everything was in order, then stopped by again on our check out day to make sure we were happy with our stay. They provided extra rolls of toilet tissue, paper towels, laundry detergent and hand soap, which is uncommonly kind of them. After many rental experiences, I believe they provided the most paper goods and cleaning solutions of any home I have ever stayed in.
Yes, it is an older home with window AC units in each room upstairs and an older kitchen, but that is what I would expect in a home of this age, in this area and for such an affordable rental price. Unlike the last reviewer, we didn't have any issues with leaks, broken AC units or bugs flying in the home. Keeping the counters clean eradicated ant issues, which are a common problem in this area of the country.
I would HIGHLY recommend this property to folks looking for a low-key rental in a great neighborhood :)
Thanks for making our stay so wonderful!
The house can accommodate large groups but appears to be neglected. The tubs and showers were filthy with mold under the non skid mats and in need of a thorough cleaning. Beware that the shower upstairs will cause a leak on to the rusted washer and dryer downstairs. The linoleum flooring was ripped, paint was peeling and chipping throughout. We had many bugs in the house and ants lived in the kitchen (they even had an ant trap on the counter.) The AC units upstairs were insufficient and black mold visible in vents. Owner did appear to purchase a new one during our stay, but it was not installed. The owner did get the main AC repaired the following day when it malfunctioned during our stay. The dock was rusted, aging with loose and rotting boards. It made us nervous to be on the pier.
The screens were loose on the outer doors which allowed pests to enter. The furniture was broken with shredded material, but did have a new television. The high chair was broken, I would advise bringing your own if traveling with a baby.
The home is located in a beautiful neighborhood that is well cared for. It is a shame that this house seems so neglected. I would not advise staying at this home with young children.
The lake is wonderful and great for kids. It is shallow with clean water. We had a lovely time but do not plan to rent the same house should we return.
