About William Oberheiser
I have had the good fortune to have been born in Havana, raised in San Juan and earning a BFA from the Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland, Ore. Currently sharing my time between Miami and Culebra when not otherwise traveling. I look forward to taking a swim in the afternoons, "Its swim o'clock!". Thrilled to have Flamenco beach awarded the "Blue Flag" designation that it has long deserved.
William Oberheiser purchased this House in 2008
Why William Oberheiser chose Culebra Pueblo
There is a beauty and romance to this tropical landscape that is beyond words.
What makes this House unique
It's a slower pace of life where people have the time to sit around, chat and have a drink by the sea, take a swim and get in some dancing.

Charming Home with Beautiful Views
The Wind and the Sea does not disappoint. The views of the Sea and Ensenada Honda are breathtaking. The breezes are constant throughout the home. I could not believe how well it felt without a/c. I thought at some point the breeze would stop but it never did. It is well decorated, very clean and has everything that you need. I appreciated that there were plenty of towels/beach towels, beach chairs and a cooler to use. The home is close to town but yet offers plenty of privacy on the veranda which we thoroughly enjoyed. It was the perfect place for unwinding and relaxation. My husband and I will definitely stay here again and highly recommend. One thing I would like to see is maybe an outdoor table on that huge veranda. Thanks Will for allowing us to enjoy your home.
Dena, as it turns out, I have already commissioned a wood worker on the big island to design a weather proof table for the deck and its being installed at the end of May.
I will send you a picture when it's all done. Thanks again for visiting Culebra, Will
Great Views and Attention to Detail!
This property has a FANTASTIC deck! It’s in town but on a hill with a view of Ensenada Honda to die for. All of the windows have adjustable louvered windows for incredible breezes. The owner stays here when on the island so EVERYTHING you would need is here. Things to be aware of. No TV (but who needs that!) This property is on a steep hill maybe 75 yards long. We walked to the fairy dock almost every day but the climb back up the hill is a workout. The water pressure is poor and the hot water is not very hot. That said the bathroom and shower are very well done and I liked the shampoo/soap dispenser in the shower as well as the large rainfall shower head. There are many roosters that crow all day and all night. If you shut the windows and your bedroom door the sound is muffled considerably however. The mahogany furniture is beautiful but not very practical. It adds to the atmosphere but we only sat on the couch, the kitchen chairs or the deck chairs. Overall I would definitely rent here again. Will returned our messages quickly and after moving to our rental for the second week we realized how good we had it here. Anything in town is within walking distance. It’s a 10 minute walk to Melones beach which is the calmest water on the island. The only improvements I would make are to the water pressure/temperature and maybe add a grill to the deck. Thanks for a great stay Will!
Hello Dan, thank you for the thoughtful review and rest assured that I am working on the water temperature by installing a solar water heater this summer.
Charming and recently updated
Views are outstanding.. Location is close to town with good food and hospitable people.. No street addresses make it tough to find and although it is walking distance to town, there are many hills..Internet works great as well as cell service..No TV, but a nice break.. Water is good and clean.. Beaches are fabulous with good snorkeling close by..
bring your ear plugs if you like it quiet at night.. The chickens and roosters cackle throughout the day and night.. The temperature and ocean breezes make it very comfortable day and night.. Never needed the air conditioning after figuring out that it was controlled by a remote in one of the bedrooms..Was well worth the price and a unique and great experience...
Thank you for the thoughtful review Mark, am working on adding a TV as I did enjoy netflix on a recent trip myself. Good call.
thanks and regards,
Wind & the Sea is fabulously dreamy! This place is true to its pictures but yet better. Offers privacy, relaxation, comfort, great accessibility, ... many other amenities. Above all, earns 5-stars for cleanliness. Lastly, a super host that is accessible and accommodating ... totally worth it.
Hope to have you return Maribel, it was a pleasure hosting you.
Best accommodation in Dewey!
Best accommodation in Dewey, by far. The apartment is clean and super well decorated. The terrace is large and oversees the town and the sea. We had the chance to witness amazing full moon rising, with its orange reflection on the bay's water. The place is also conveniently located, close to restaurants, bars, the harbor and the airport. Last but not least, William is a great host, super responsive and flexible. Definitely recommend this little Caribbean gem.
Thank you for the eloquent and lyrical words Lorenzo it was a pleasure to have you visit Culebra.
What a Find!
We had a lovely stay at The Wind & The Sea. The views from the house are incredible! The breeze truly made the porch a magical place. The kitchen was very well equipped; it is obvious that the owner stays in the home as there is everything that one could want and more. The bathroom was beautiful, as was the living space. Plenty of towels were provided, both bath and beach. I absolutely look forward to returning to The Wind & The Sea!
Thank you for the thoughtful review Kelly. It was a pleasure having you visit Culebra and staying with us. We pay attention to the details as to provide a great guest experience.
