Eden House Rental Photos and Description

House, 4 Bedrooms + Loft, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 8-10)

Welcome to our real log home located in the middle of Powder Mountain Resort’s 5,500 acres of Utah powder snow. We built this home because we love the solitude and friendliness of Powder Mountain, not to mention the incredible powder! Ski out the door to Sundown lift or take a short walk to Timberline Lift. Either way there are no lockers, no buses, and no parking spots to fight for. Enjoy the groomed trails, which are not overcrowded or the fresh powder of the back country. Powder Mountain was voted #1 in snow by Ski Magazine's readers in 2005. If you want to hit more than one resort while in Utah, Snow Basin is 30 min. away, renowned for its verticals and home of the 2002 men’s Olympic downhill.

We’ve built a dream log home, hand crafted inside and out of huge lodge pole pine logs. Inside we have made comfort and beauty our prerogative. After a great day of skiing, curl up with a book in front of the fire and enjoy the panoramic mountain view of the sunset, sky and ski slopes through the vast windows from the great room and master loft suite. Or relax in the hot tub while watching the sun set and the moon rise. At night, enjoy the view of the resort’s night skiing, a favorite with locals and visitors alike. The basement has a mudroom equipped with a washer and drier and a boot drier to make sure everything is ready for the next days run. There is a two car garage for parking and stowing your gear.

If you love to cook the kitchen is well equipped with quality cookware, fine appliances, granite counter tops and a breakfast bar. Whip up a great breakfast before you hit the slopes and a dinner to celebrate a day of skiing and riding. A BBQ grill is available for those who enjoy cooking outdoors. Take a break in the middle of the day and warm your toes by the fire for lunch at home or at one of the restaurants on the mountain. If you choose not to shop, our mountain hosts will shop for you, before and during your stay. The Valley Market is 20 minutes away and five miles down the road is Wolf Creek Lodge and the town of Eden with a variety of dining, from casual to gourmet.

Quality beds from Simmons Beauty Rest and cozy furniture throughout the house are provided for your comfort. Feather duvets are provided for each bed as well as a choice of medium or firm pillows. The master bedroom suite bath has a Jacuzzi tub and separate shower. The French doors open to the loft for a spectacular morning view of the mountain right from your king size bed. Downstairs has a fourth bedroom, which can be utilized for the privacy of a couple, or a family room for the kids, complete with its own bathroom, TV, and pool table. A supply of games, books and puzzles for every age are provided.

In the summer you can enjoy the cool crisp mountain air and the quiet solitude of a mountain home. Enjoy views of the flora and fauna from every room in the house. We've seen deer wander by the kitchen window. Just minutes down the mountain, golf, fishing, hiking and boating are available in the beautiful upper Ogden valley. The deep blue Pineview Reservoir is a favorite summer recreation area. What a combination, the beauty of a lake with the snow-capped mountains in the background.

About Donna Nelson

Hi, we are Donna and Joel Nelson. Donna is a toy store owner and Joel is a musician living in Key West, Florida. We have 3 grown children who we raised skiing at Pow Mow, a dog, a cat, and a bird. We've been married 30 years.

Except for hurricanes, we love living in the keys and enjoying all the outdoor water activities.

Donna Nelson purchased this house in 2006

Why Donna Nelson chose Utah

We fell in love with Powder Mountain for it's natural beauty, deep powdery snow, friendly people and lack of crowds. We were fortunate enough to build our dream log home right on the mountain

What makes this house unique

In the middle of the resort, ski- in ski out. Very nicely furnished and appointed. Tremendous views of the slopes through giant windows. The beauty of a hand crafted log home. Private Hot Tub in the warmth of the sun during the day and under the stars at night. Watch the sun set and the moon rise from the deck. Drive to on a plowed road.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Donna, just wanted to send you a note about our stay at your home on Powder Mountain. Snow was good this year...although it was the first year in 7 years we didn't get dumped on. We realized how spoiled we are. The good news was it forced us to dig deeper. We hiked where the "tow" lift drops you off. That area above Cobabe Canyon (spelling?) is magical. Great tree runs, Deep pow and solitude and a Cat we had never tried.

We hired a guide this year and also found great areas in Powder country I that we had never explored....take a hard right after you cross the road and fresh tracks for three days :)

At the end of the last day I had to get one more run in. I took the Cat to the peak above the cabin and took the face to end the day with the goal of boarding into the Powder keg. At the bottom of the bowl I saw something round and brown crossing my intended trail. I put on the brakes just in time not to run over a VERY well fed Porcupine. It was gently snowing. The Porcupine eyed me and I decided to sit down 10 yards away. Snow found its way onto its pelt as it wobbled around me and the snow covered trees. We shared 5 minutes together, uninterrupted, with only the sound of snow settling on my shoulders...this could only happen in Powder Mountain. Imagine the 3,000 people that would have raced by me if I decided to stop for 5 minutes at Park City.

Powder mountain is one of the most special places on earth and frankly your home matches its perfection. I appreciate the opportunity to spend time there every year.

I would love to take the same week next year..

Head to the Summit for Sunset

  • 5 of 5

We meet friends of ours for the Eden Balloon Fest and stayed at Log Heaven on Powder Mountain. The views are spectacular! The beautifully decorated house is set up to accommodate both small and large groups, with a fully equipped kitchen and spacious comfortable bedrooms. One of the things we highly recommend is to drive/hike up to the summit for sunset. Absolutely stunning! There are plenty of trails to hike and bike, a hot tub to relax in after a day of activity on the mountain, and a well stocked grocery story just 10 minutes down the mountain. Also 10 minutes down the road is a nice golf course with tremendous views. The owners, Joel and Donna Nelson, were just great -- accommodating and responsive to our every need. We would highly recommend this lovely mountain home! PS The new artwork looked fabulous!

Perfect August Vacation

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful August visit to Log Heaven in Powder Mountain!! Rode in a hot air balloon @ Ogden Valley Balloon & Artist Festival. Enjoyed hiking on the new Powder Mountain Biking & Hiking Trails and the gorgeous sunsets. The weather was perfect - warm, sunny days and cool nights. We did all of our cooking and entertaining in the well equipped kitchen and dining area. Played games, watched the scenery through the huge front windows, sat on the deck, watched movies and relaxed in the hot tub under the stars.

Log Heaven is perfect for families and groups - space to spread out or all be together. It is very easy to find, well centered for skiing, hiking or biking, and only a few minutes away from the well stocked Valley Market (grocery store).

The owners are very responsive to all of the family / group needs.

Can't wait to go back!!!

Gem across from Powder Country

  • 5 of 5

I wanted to drop you a line and tell you, yet again, how much we love renting your place at Powder. The house was fantastic and the views were even better. I think we spent the entire 5 days on the mountain hiking and boarding or on the front deck of the house. It could not have gone any better. Truly a gem in the mountains that everyone loved.

It is always a pleasure to share our home with guests who truly love our home and the mountain Sitting on the deck after a day of skiing, soaking up the rays or watching the sunset over the mountain is one of my favorite parts of the day. Thank you as well for taking such good care of our home. We are happy to have your group back year after year and hope to see you next year as well.

Great Holiday Weekend

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Donna's home for Presidents weekend for my husbands 70th birthday party. We had 8 couples and two kids. The entire house worked for us wonderfully. The view is to die for, watching the ski run and you can see all the way to Park City. The house had everything we needed. Two bedrooms would be sharing a bath but the other two sleeping areas had their own bath. The master suite was very nice. It is a short walk to the lifts and with a little experience you could ski back to the house. We were all skiers who had not skied for a long time so we spent most of our time on the lower lift which was about a block away. The check in with Dave who runs the ski shop was great and he is very helpful. Powder Mountain is an absolute undiscovered gem, no lines even on Presidents weekend. Many of the houses up there have to be accessed by snowmobile which seems alittle difficult if you have a lot of gear. Donna's place is always accessible from the main road to the lifts.

Thumbs up from the Dudes!

  • 5 of 5

I hosted an annual reunion of guys from college at Donna's log home, it was awesome. We loved the views, especially of the night skiing. The house fit nine guys perfectly, loved the ski in- ski out, but it does take a little creativity. We will certainly be back in 2020, when it is my turn to host again. We have been to lots of places over the 15 years we have been doing this, but this is one of the few everybody agreed on making it a regular. Pow Mow is a killer Utah resort, low key, but lots of terrain and aspects, love the hiking for turns opportunities. We were treated as well as could be asked for, thanks a bunch.

I am glad you love our home as much as we do, and yes the views are killer. We look forward to having your group again, just sad it will be 4 years.
