Peaceful socially distanced escape
Lovely place! If you’re looking for relaxation this is the place for you. Sunset is incredible every evening and the lake is a hop skip and a jump no matter where you are. Kayaking was fabulous great wildlife. Will absolutely return, and I forgot to mention one of the nicest cabins ever. The fresh smell of wood was awesome.
Cozy little lake cottage great for relaxing, unplugging, and reading a good summer book!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this little lake cottage. Each room was cozy and met our needs for relaxing and unplugging! Linda was very friendly and welcoming. We had our 12lb dog along and he loved the yard which is roomy and lovely up on a hill. We sat out and had dinner on the deck, enjoyed an outdoor fire in the great fire pit, sat on the couch and read our summer books, and soaked in the view through the trees of Lake Erie.
thanks for the great review. I'm so glad you enjoyed your "escape to the lake".
hope that when you need a vacation away again- you will think of us.
Had a nice, relaxing stay but its small
Cottage was just as described. It's old and small but due to the size of the bedrooms could only comfortably sleep a couple and maybe a small child. We had to use the other bedroom for our suitcase as the room with the double bed had no room for one. The bed is literally touching 3 of the 4 walls with only room to stand between the 4th wall and bed. Bathroom was also tight with only a 32-34" shower stall but was fine for us. No TV, radio or alarm clock so I would suggest bringing your own. We brought our own portable DVD player and watched movies. The game shelf was tailored to families with games for more than 2 players. As described in the ad you can see the lake but you are not on it. The lake access is really just a community boat dock which was a tad disappointing. Yard is a great size and our dogs loved it but it's only semi-private as the cottage is in the middle of the housing community and there seemed to always be cars driving by. The location was perfect! 20 minutes from Conneaut OH, 20 minutes from Walnut Creek and 30 minutes from Presque Isle. Tons of local farmers markets and wineries and restaurants to choose from. Overall we had a nice stay but felt for the amenities, size of the cottage and the price we paid we could have found other options for similar price right on the lake with direct lake/beach access.
Since you have been here 2 years ago, the cottage has been totally renovated. The ceilings are vaulted cedar with all new hickory floors and hickory cabinets. the bedrooms have all new beds with a star show in each room. The bathroom has a vaulted cedar ceiling with a heat lamp for a sauna for a relaxing shower. WiFi is in with chrome cast for movies as well as a DVD player. Central air helps the cabin feel cozy cool even during the hot august months. Its also been turned in to a log cabin whereas it was before a cottage. Many changes were added to make it a totally new experience.
Amazing 3 days!
We recently spent 3 glorious days at this cottage. Host Linda was super friendly and very helpful. The cottage is older but incredibly neat and clean and fully equipped with anything you could ever need for making meals etc. The lot is surrounded by beautiful large trees allowing you to have privacy but still having a view of the lake. You can relax and unwind by the fire in the large fire pit, or sit by the lake which is just a short 2-3 min walk away. We enjoyed the tranquility so much that besides going for walks, we never left the cottage the whole time we were there. We would highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys peace and quiet and unplugged quality time in very pleasant surroundings. We hated to leave but hope to get there again someday.
Thank you for the great review-we enjoyed you as guests and are so glad you felt right at home-yes the cottage is tranquil-if you look one way you’re in the woods-look the other way, you’re by the lake. We hope you plan on vacationing with us next year

About Mark and Linda Caldwell
Mark and Linda purchased the property in 2018 and remodeled it beginning in the spring of 2019. The complete renovation provides the perfect cabin to come home to after a long days adventure. The cabin/cottage is basically both. It is near the lake but also near the woods so if you are a lake lover or a woodsy person- We have the best of both worlds for you. The cabin is on top of a slight hill so that the other cottages are far below. complete privacy, but not isolation. The cabin was completely renovated with ceiling taken out for vaulted cedar ceiling and beautiful hickory hardwood floors. Clean and safe for the kids.
Why Mark and Linda Caldwell chose East Springfield
The property is tucked away, with a view of the lake on one side and the woods on the other. Enjoy a fire in the fire pit at night-or relax in the hammock in the woods after a long day sight seeing. Covered bridges are in Conneaut Ohio for a unique excursion. Presque Isle is not too far away. The attic was taken out to add to the dimensions of the cabin. Beautiful cedar ceiling and hickory cabinets and solid hardwood hickory flooring adds to the feel of the log cabin. The cabin is small but enough room inside and spacious property outside with firepit to roast marshmallows and hammock in the woods for relaxing. The cottage sits back, on top of a slight hill so that the other cottages are below. Privacy but not isolation. Turn one way and you can enjoy the lake, turn the other way and you see the woods which has a stream. Whether you are a fisherman looking for a retreat after fishing, a family looking for a great escape, of a cozy couples getaway, this cabin offers it all. Located between great fishing places-Crooked Creek/ Raccoon Creek/ Elk Creek- great fishing getaways.
What makes this Cabin unique
The cottage is located by Crooked creek, Raccoon creek, Walnut creek and by the State Game Lands. Perfect for fishing and hunting. View the lake from the front window and walk a short distance to the lake. Woods are in the back yard.
