We had the delight of being Lyse and Gus' first guests. We had a wonderful time with them and can not recommend this home, or its hosts, more highly. The accommodations are very comfortable. The views are spectacular. Lyse and Gus were very helpful, offering suggestions about restaurants, services on the island, and doing research for us when it might be useful. They also gave us a beautiful tour of their property including the pond (Relais) and cabin near it. If you are thinking about spending time near Quebec, and if you love the beautiful countryside, the most wonderful fruits, vegetables, and dairy products in the world, and beautiful hospitality in a lovely setting, this is the place for you!

Beautiful

  • 5 of 5

We are a family of four from Denmark, and we spent four days at Le Franchar in mid-July 2016 .

Our review can only be most laudatory. We found the website description to be very accurate in all respects, and we can subscribe to each word said in earlier evaluations.

It is a beautiful place, a beautiful appartment, with a beautiul view. And warm, considerate and humorous hosts. The human aspect was not the least rewarding for us, first-time visitors to Canada.

Other comments we left in the guest book, please see for yourselves :-)

Sincerely,

Niels Gottlieb and family

Le Franchar

  • 5 of 5

Le Franchar is a marvellous vacation rental. The apartment is very clean, well-stocked and so very peaceful. The property is lovingly maintained by Lyse and Gus, who are always available to answer any questions. I will not hesitate to return again in the future. It is a truly beautiful place.

Fantastic Fall-In-Québec experience

  • 5 of 5

For those who want to experience Québec City and surrounding areas, Le Franchar is the place to stay! The upstairs 2 bedroom flat in the picturesque two-story house was impeccably clean and well appointed. The setting on L'ile D'Orléans with scenic views of Fall colors from both side of the house was out of a postcard! We enjoyed our 5 night stay with the friendly and very helpful owners Lyse and Gus, who live in an identical house next door. Fall colors in the area were gorgeous but the location was also within a short drive of Old Québec, Montmorency Falls and other local sites. We're looking forward to a return trip to Québec, and will stay at Le Franchar if possible.

Beautiful Setting and the View is Spectacular!

  • 5 of 5

Le Franchar was beautiful, well-maintained, and very comfortable. The view across the St. Lawrence was gorgeous, especially at night. Convenient to Quebec City - only a 15-20 minute drive, depending on traffic. Ile d'Orleans was charming - lots of fall festivals, apple picking, produce stands. Lyse & Gus provided us with good information and recommendations on the area. Enjoyed touring the Manoir Mauvide-Genest - very interesting. Would highly recommend a stay at Le Franchar and hope to return some time soon.

40th Anniversary Trip

  • 5 of 5

We stayed with Lyse and Gus on our 40th anniversary trip to QC . It was the cleanest VRBO we have ever stayed in and so homey and welcoming. Decorated French Country with beautiful antiques. When we arrived they had classical music playing and even had an anniversary card for us. Everything we needed in the way of dishes and supplies were provided. They were most helpful in every way during our stay. The view from the balcony over the river had beautiful sunsets and was a highlight of our trip. We ate dinner on the balcony each night while watching the amazing color show in the sky. The island is so special and a nice treat away from being in QC. It is easy to spend an entire day on the island. We highly recommend this home and would return again. I can't say enough about their hospitality and friendliness. I had just been in the hospital and they were so caring. Don't miss this one- it is the best ever. Thank you Lyse and Gus.
