Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 - 3 nights

Minimum Stay
2 - 3 nights

About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4)

A great lake escape, is just what it says. Escape from your frantic, fast paced, stressed out life. Come up to the lake and relax on any of the three decks or outside in the hot tub overlooking the lake on a quiet cove; two minutes from the main lake by boat. Paddle around the lake on the three available kayaks or the canoe!! If the evenings are a little chilly turn on one of the two gas fireplaces,(one in the loft, one on the main floor).

We are close to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, Nantahala National Park for Hiking the Appalachian and Bartram Trails. The Nantahala Outdoor Center for rafting, kayaking and biking is just a 45 minute beautiful ride away.

This a a wonderful ROMANTIC getaway for couples or FUN for small families. What an opportunity to be able to spend quality time together and reconnect while being in the great outdoors.

Please remember you are in a remote area so if you have health issues and need to be by a medical facility or have a disability and bad knees this may not be an ideal place for you.

**Keep in mind that this is a TVA Lake and after Labor Day until March lake levels are extremely low and docks are on dry land

Perfect exclusive getaway

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is waaay up the side of a mountain overlooking Nantahala Lake. At first we thought we made a wrong turn, but my GPS put us right there. Inside was so pretty, bed super comfy & hottub on the back deck just right!! Definitely coming back!!

Private, Clean, and Romantic Getaway!!!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I drove up from Georgia to get off the grid for our five year anniversary. The house is very clean and cozy. The bed was comfortable, and the two fireplaces were fabulous. The house had all the amenities we needed and a brand new Weber grill. There is a very nice hot tub on the deck outside that allowed us to sit out and watch the stars while staying warm and cozy though it was cold outside. Definitely don't trust to a GPS on this one. Follow the instructions Cherisse sends you, I promise its the best way. From personal experience, I would also advise getting there during the daylight hours. The drive is very winding over the mountains and you'll want all your facilities to get you there safely. We actually met the owner when we were checking out and she is a very sweet person. We ended up chatting with her for a half hour or so. We very much enjoyed our stay and will most definitely be returning in the future!!!!

Great lake getaway

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a weekend at this cozy, romantic cabin. It was very clean and decorated for fall. This is a great place to disconnect and live off the grid for a few days since there is no cell or internet service. There is a house phone, however, which was very convenient. We used the hot tub which was wonderful. While there were canoes to use at the cabin, we just rented one at the marina because the lake levels were really low. We highly recommend getting there before dark if you aren't familiar with the area because the roads are really dark and winding and GPS may not work, although our Garmin and Google Maps worked. The owner is really hospitable and nice and even called to make sure we got in okay since we had to get there after dark. She even left a jar of local jam. She recommends backing into the driveway and this is definitely a MUST. We almost got stuck when we were leaving on our final day and were in an SUV. Luckily, Cherisse showed up and was able to help us. The area is really nice and so are the people. There are a lot of outdoor activities including the marina where you can rent canoes, kayaks, and boats, and the Nantahala Outdoor Center where you can white water raft. You are about 30 minutes from town, though. We can't wait to come back for a longer stay!

Lovely, quiet cabin perfect for a couple or small family.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed the second week of October, and had a great time. The cabin is quiet, so it was perfect for getting away to recharge and renew. The house was spotlessly clean and well equipped. We used the hot tub a couple of times. We did not use the canoe or kayaks, but they looked nice. Thank you for letting us stay, and we definitely would recommend this cabin to or friends. We would stay here again.

We had a wonderful visit at Great Lake Escape cabin!

  • 5 of 5

Thanks, Cherisse, for a quiet, beautiful place on Nantahala Lake for us to get away and visit the North Carolina mountains! The cabin was very clean and set up with everything we needed as the base for our visit! The weather cooperated and we had a great time!! We will definitely recommend your cabin to anyone visiting the area. We visited Wayah Bald Tower and the Rufus Trail and waterfall nearby, and, with a little over an hours drive away, made it to Tellico Plains, TN and the Cherohala Skyway to Robbinsville, NC. It was a clear day and we could see for miles! The drive was breathtakingly beautiful!! We also visited the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest near Robbinsville for a rousing walk through "one of the very few remaining tracts of virgin hardwood in the Appalachians". A drive northwest on Wayah Road wound along the Nantahala River through the gorge, with many places to stop and enjoy the view of the Nantahala cascades and other beautiful areas along the river, and watch those rafting and kayaking through the rapids. It was a great trip!
