The Irish Rose has become a vacation favorite for guests from all over the world! Just take a look at our guestbook comments below! This mountain cabin is located on the historic Mosquito Gulch Trail. Just 15 miles south of Breckenridge, it is the perfect spot for either a secluded get-away or a ski vacation at a fraction of the cost.

Centered on ten acres of pine and aspen, the Irish Rose was designed to accommodate those who want a true Colorado experience. With Mosquito Creek flowing nearby, you will enjoy spectacular views of Pennsylvania and London Mountains as you relax with family and friends. A seven person hot tub sits out front in the location of an old historic mine if you want to relax and enjoy the view from there!

If summer hiking, biking or four-wheeling is your desire, four of Colorado's 14,000 foot peaks are at your doorstep, providing some of the best hiking and driving trails in the world. Tackle the summits of Mount Bross, Mount Democrat, Mount Cameron, and Mount Lincoln... all in a single day!

Gold pan on the local creeks, explore 'Buckskin Joe' trail, and visit the ghost town of Park City. The historic mining towns of Alma and Fairplay are also nearby. Mountain bike to your heart's content or drive the legendary 4x4 'Mosquito Pass' into Leadville. Pick wildlowers and view wildlife--there's something for everyone!

If winter activities are your goal, the beautiful village of Breckenridge is just a short drive north where you can enjoy premier Colorado skiing, dining, and shopping. Keystone, Arapahoe Basin, and Copper Mountain are also close. Or, stay near home and cross-country ski to your heart's content. We have it all!

The Irish Rose was built with families in mind. The main level has a great room with a gas fireplace and floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing the beautiful mountains and trees. It is surrounded by a huge 32x8 foot wrap-around deck. A full kitchen and dining area are also on this level to create an open, spacious environment. Pets are NOT allowed, No Smoking.

There are two main level bedrooms, one with a queen bed, and one with double bed and trundle geared for up to three kids. The great room sofa also pulls out to a queen-size bed. The master bedroom loft has a queen bed, washer and dryer, along with a small private balcony. There are full baths on both the main level and the loft. The cabin also has a lower level with a private entrance in the back which is occupied by 'Mountain Kay', the landlord. Kay has 30+ years of experience in Park and Summit Counties. She is quiet, very knowledgeable on the local area, and can assist with anything you need. She has two old dogs who will go hiking with you if you like!

Experience the Rocky Mountains in the comfort of the 'Irish Rose'. At over 10,000ft elevation, it's as close to heaven as you can get!

The Irish Rose Vacation 2013

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at the "Irish Rose" was nothing less than spectacular. The Cabin was well maintained and beautiful, and well equiped with anything you needed. The land that it is on was fun for exploring and hiking or just relaxing by the creek.

The area is centrally located for touring the Royal Gorge, Pikes Peak and Brekenridge, along with other scenic sites.

The people of Alma and Fairplay were friendly and respectful and helpful when looking for directions or information. Our Family would gladly stay at the "Irish Rose" again and again whenever possible.

Thank You for a wonderful place for a wonderful and relaxing vacation.

Amazing Cabin with Amazing Views!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at the Irish Rose was magical! You feel very welcomed when you first approach the cabin with instructions, welcoming messages, and even some compliments. You feel one with nature and the views are phenomenal! After a long day of winter activities, the Irish Rose was our home away from home. Everything is super organized and very cozy. No better place to stay on our first trip to Colorado! A huge thanks Richard and Kay for making our stay very memorable. Till next time!

We have gone on an annual ski vacation for six consecutive seasons and this was one of our best yet!!! The Irish Rose is clean, private, well equipped, and has a spectacular view!! We would absolutely stay here again. The owners are amazing to work with and we are so grateful for the opportunity to enjoy this beautiful place!

Owner's Response: We are so sorry to hear that you found pet hairs! We are a pet free rental, which means someone broke our policy and had a pet in the house. We will follow up with a thorough professional cleaning. We take great pride in the cleanliness of the Irish Rose and that our guests get the best vacation experience possible

Perfect cabin for a family getaway

  • 5 of 5

Really enjoyed our stay. The view and surroundings were as picturesque as anticipated. The cabin was very nicely decorated and cozy. We very much enjoyed the welcome goodies which included freshly baked spice cake. The hot tub worked great and we had clear skies for some amazing star gazing. We had an awesome view of the Milky Way and saw a ton of shooting stars. We had fun walking on the frozen creek and investigating the old mine stuff. Kay put out some seed which drew some neat birds we'd never seen before. Really glad we decided to stay here. Great experience

Stunning! The house really felt like a home away from home.

  • 5 of 5

Nestled amongst the mountains and streams it was really beautiful. The hot tub was actually the kicker- why we finally chose The Rose. I could write quite a bit but I’ll just say that it was so nice having almost everything we needed already at the house. It made the stay almost perfect. We will be back. The only thing I would change- it would have been great to have another love seat or seating for another person or two in the main great room. But that’s our only nit-picky thing. Having Kay there was a pretty great built in feature! She was great, attentive and accommodative. Thanks so much.
