Bummer

Owner canceled our reservation with less than 48 hours before we were to arrive even though we paid in full!

Owner's Response: I am sorry that because the cottage was accidentally double booked for that date, I had to cancel your reservation and kept the booking for the earlier guest. While, like you, I am not happy about this situation, unfortunately we are all human and no one is beyond making an occasional mistake, as this is the first time in 5 years that an oversight like this has ever happened. I realized how stressful this was for you which is why I called practically every place in town to find a list of places that could provide you with suitable lodging for your party and provided you with that info so that you could make alternate arrangements. I am sorry that this happened, and have contacted you directly on trying to get this set back to right. Hopefully you will see that from the offer that we have presented to you. Respectfully and Most Sincerely, Music Makers Cottage Management

This was a great place to relax at the beach. The beach is a short walk over a dune to a lovely beach with plenty of elbow room. Even when the weather turned a bit cool and windy we were able to sit outside with the protection from the dune. The music festival was going on the first weekend we were there, lots of fun with lots of friendly people. We visited Crisp Point lighthouse and Au Sable lighthouse, Tahquamenon Falls and took a sunset cruise to Pictured Rocks. We also looked for agates on the beach but I don't think we found any. I could have stayed another week.

Owner's Response: It was wonderful having you as our guest, and I'm so pleased you had a lovely time. I find when I am there, as you said, it is always a good time, be it rain or shine. So nice to see that you discovered the cottage as a mid way point to experience and see the beauty of the UP. Thanks again!

Girls week!

  • 4 of 5

Very quaint little beach house! Susan was extremely accomodating. We were in need if a blender (yes, of course it was for smoothies!) which she promptly phoned the local hardware store and held for us. Grand Marais is such a great place. Peace, quiet and beauty. Just a bit of a drive though to pretty much anywhere. Great time! Thank you!

Loved this delightful cottage!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent a week at Music Makers cottage in July 2013. We loved the cottage. It's adorable, has comfy furniture, awesome beds, quality bedding, a nicely stocked kitchen, and washer/dryer. It's a short, easy walk to the beach - about 2 to 5 minutes. And a quick car or bike ride into town. Grand Marais has three restaurants. I highly recommend the West Side Diner - expect a wait for your food if they are busy but it is oh so worth it. Also check out the Pickle Barrel Museum and the Gitchee Gumme Museum & Rock Shop where you can learn much about rocks, minerals, etc. The town is quaint and small and not overly busy so you never feel like you're fighting crowds. It's the perfect getaway for rest and restoration, beach combing, and enjoying the majesty of Lake Superior. The cottage is clean, well-maintained, and stocked with games, television with cable, and other items.

Owner's Response: I am so thrilled that you liked the Cottage and that you had a great time. I am also pleased that you found Grand Marais, that quiet little harbor town, as charming and interesting as I believe it to be. Isn't it incredible what sun, sand and surf can do to allow you to relax you all over? Thank you so much for having chosen the Music Makers Cottage for your summer getaway experience.
