A Medieval Atmosphere Surrounded by Breathtaking Olive Groves and Lush Woods
One side faces the tiny streets of Paciano and the other is part of the fortified walls of the village facing the Umbrian hills. The property has been in possession of the same family for the past six generations. It has been carefully restored and preserved thanks to meticulous attention to detail and turned into a charming Bed and Breakfast or self catering house. It is by all means an aristocratic property decorated with beautiful antiques, and it has opened its doors.
Relais Mastro Cinghiale has six double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms with showers. The rooms have commanding views of the Umbrian countryside near Lake Trasimeno, some face the medieval alleys of Borgo di Paciano through its circular windows. The entire property is at the guests' disposal. The first floor boasts a generously sized drawing room, dining room and kitchen. Breakfast is rigorously organic, prepared with local products and served on a long table in the spacious tavern which is adorned with an antique fireplace. A TV zone is available for those who wish to unwind next to a bar area and a games table. The 13th century tower of Paciano overlooks our 'antico giardino pensile' which you can access through the tavern. Nothing is more relaxing than sitting here, read a book and be delighted by the gorgeous landscape.
Rooms can be rented singulary with a B&B service which includes a delicious continental breakfast prepared with local organic products.
Alternatively, there is the option of renting the entire property on a weekly basis (sleeps 12) which includes the use of a fully equipped kitchen.

Wonderful vacation choice!
Fabulous views of the countryside from half the windows; sweet internal views of the village from the other side. The living room was very nice and the huge dining room table was perfect! The kitchen was great and well-supplied. I would add dishwasher soap to the supplies, as I think foreigners would be likely to suspect one of the other soaps was for the dishwasher and could do it damage.) Upstairs bedrooms were perfect, all with private baths. We did have some hot water problems but Nico (the housekeeper) stayed on tops of those. Nico's sweet little baby boy, Dennis, was adorable and we just loved him! The downstairs was impressive, altho' I think we only used it once (but did make a nice fire in the fireplace!). The outside garden area is gorgeous, missing only some comfy chairs to sit in and read, or rest! The village itself is darling, very small. Really good restaurants with such congenial people. Our favorite was the "Oca Brucciata" right down the hill - excellent food, great choices and not too expensive! There's a nice food store and coffee bar farther down the hill and a butcher shop right in the village. Great place from which to branch out to all the surrounding areas! The owner's (Flaminia) notes are most helpful and she was a lovely, personable person to deal with.
A booster, maical weekend before a busy start !
Staying at this agriturismo was a wonderful and unique experience for us.
This historical building in the heart of Piacano, features immaculate rooms beautifully decorated by Flamy’s magical touch, and a house full of antique and family treasures. The fascinating surroundings of the Umbrian hills and countryside are some of the most intimate and natural settings we have ever encountered.
We stayed here two nights to get away from the speed and pace to which modern life has accustomed us. It was very hard to leave!
We walked nearby Monte Marzolana (586 m), from where the spectacular view of Lake Trasimeno was priceless.
There was a different kind of magic in the historical and cultural Città delle Pieve, and the Etruscan town of Chuisi, with its impressive underground labyrinth, and the hilltops town of Panicale.
Umbria is a place that stole our hearts, and Mastro Cinghiale will be a definite destination when we do so.

It was an amazing holiday in this charming Relais in Umbria. Flaminia, the owner was really helpful and nice. Our room, il Tasso, was overlooking the stunning countryside, and was very cosy.
We hope to be back soon!
Unforgettable weekend in Umbria
We stayed at Relaix Mastro Cingiale with our friends over a long week end at the end of October.
A cosy family run hotel with a lot of personal touch and details, own wine cellar so you can combine your stay with wine testing (no need to drive after). The hotel makes actually a part of an ancient city wall with a magnificent view over surrounding hills and valleys.
A lovely and a very friendly couple of housekeepers helped us to feel at home.
A lot of space: huge dinning room (feels like you are dinning in an actual castle), a kitchen nearby where you can do a snack for the kids in between the meal times. At the ground flow a nicely decorated room with wine shelves and a beautiful fire place where we stayed every evening after dinner having a drink and a cup of tea with our friends in front of the fire. Our kids loved the place. They even managed to play hide and seek - so spacious and yet cosy. A very nice option of ordering food from an excellent restaurant near by. A very pleasant experience of having food of a good restaurant in a comfort of your house (because it feels like one).
We will definitely come back
Absolute gem with perfect setting! Beautiful
The house has been immaculately refurbished: preserving the grandeur and charm that becomes such an estate but at the same making it feel like a home from home.
We spend a weekend at the house with our friends, using it as a base to explore Umbria. Both families have children. The rooms were very comfortable and although both our rooms only had showers, it was great: instant hot water and good pressure.
The living area is spacious, well to be honest huge: there is the dining room and lounge on the ground floor, and then below is the breakfast room, reading/TV corner (very cosy) and sitting area with fire place. All of this opens up on to a beautiful terrace overlooking the surrounding countryside.
The kitchen is well equipped, but we made use of a restaurant just around the corner that delivers. Not your pizza-around-the-corner place: proper Italian cuisine. With the kids playing around (the house have toys and DVDs) and the comfortable fireplace we ended up getting take aways two nights in a row!
Thanks! Our mission is to make our big and little guests feel as if they were are at home… I am happy we were successful!
The highlight of our trip!
Our visit to "Relais Mastro Cinghiale" was the highlight of our trip to Italy. Set in the rolling hills between Tuscany and Umbria, the bed in breakfast was lovely and inviting. Flaminia, the owner, was a wonderful and accommodating host. She held a private cooking class for us and together we made pasta from scratch and other traditional Italian dishes using ingredients fresh from the garden. It was one of the best meals of our trip!
It was easy to travel to other medieval villages in the area, including Panicale, Pienza, Montepulciano and more. This is the perfect spot for travelers looking to get outside of the city and enjoy the Italian countryside. I look forward to returning!
