Overview

Clermont-l'Herault area Villa Rental Photos and Description

3/4 Bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, sleeps 8 including sofa bed

Our villa 'La Lavande' sits on the edge of the unspoilt village of Soubes, which nestles in the foothills of the Cevennes 45 minutes from Montpellier and the coast.

With 3/4 bedrooms, (plus log cabin) open-plan living area with log fire and extensive garden and fenced pool (8M x4M) it is an ideal location for a peaceful family holiday. The open log fire provides additional comfort for out of season holidays, as the area is ideal for trekking and cycling.

There are many beautiful walks, and a riverside path leads to the village with its small shop and friendly cafe/restaurant.

The medieval town of Lodeve is 6km away with market, shops and restaurants.

3 Golf Courses nearby, closest at Beziers, then Cap d'Agde and Fontcaude.

Water sports are available at the Lac de Salagou with bathing or canoeing on the nearby Herault River. Try wine tasting at the numerous local vineyards. Alternatively, sit and relax in the sun by the pool or read a book in the shade of the garden and enjoy the stunning views.

Excellent Villa in a Wonderful Setting

  • 5 of 5

I had never heard of Soubès but was extremely pleased to discover this property which is located in beautiful countryside just outside the rather quaint village and quite close to Lodève, a nearby small market town.

The region around Soubès/Lodève is unspoilt and largely agricultural, with many vinyards. A future visit must include a tasting or two! There are many charming family run restaurants in the area which offer exceptional value; indeed, it is difficult to understand how such good cuisine, leave alone wine, can be offered at such prices.

The villa is well maintained and very comfortable. The pool is a particular bonus; at least it will be a little later in the year!

I'm looking forward to a return visit later in the year, as and when the opportunity arises and would highly recommend it to others.

La Lavande, the perfect getaway!

  • 5 of 5

La Lavande is the perfect getaway for those looking for peace, nature and French idyll. There are lots of places to visit nearby, especially for nature lovers. We enjoyed the perfectly planned gardens, with stunning views over the village Soubes, with plenty of space for social activities such as the large dining table and barbecue, swimming pool, petang, table tennis, as well as " rooms" for those looking for a quiet moment with a book with maybe a Ricard pastis. The house is very well designed and can accommodate many beds. We enjoyed our stay so much and our June week passed far too quickly.

A fantastic holiday!

  • 5 of 5

This holiday was pure luxury. Could not have asked for a more relaxed and peaceful setting. The property has everything that you could possibly need from pots to half a dozen blow up lilos.

The pool was kept crystal clean and the house is only a 15 minute walk from the centre of the village which allowed me to eat out and to buy the all important French baguettes for a great start to the morning.

I would, without hesitation, recommend this to anybody looking to enjoy a weeks holiday in the South of France.

A superb villa in a wonderful part of France

  • 5 of 5

This property was a real surprise, a wonderful little gem nestled in the hillside above a sleepy little village in the Herault. Fully equiped with everything we needed to make it a stay to remember, from the well equipped kitchen to the wonderfully comfortable sitting room to the cool welcoming pool with its array of loungers.

A great jumping off point to explore this most secluded part of France with its amazing birdlife (Buzzards, Golden Aurioles and Vultures), great food and wonderfully friendly people, it's all there.

Drive through the eye wateringly scenic gorges or laze the lunch hour (or two) away in a cafe and I guarantee that you will want to come back.

Fully recommend to anyone

A pleasant villa in a wonderful setting

  • 5 of 5

The position of this property, on the hillside above - and overlooking - Soubes village, is really wonderful. To complement the elevated position, the garden is a lovely place to be, with mature plants, a variety of seating areas (a large dining table under the trees, a small cast iron table by the pool, a stone table on the edge of the garden, overlooking the village, and another table on a balcony/terrace outside the living room with panoramic mountain views), as well as the good-sized pool, table tennis table and petanque court. It would be very relaxing to spend your entire stay here, serenaded constantly by the insects, but the area is too good for that. There is so much to see and do - walking, cycling, villages, hills, gorges, coast, Montpellier, Millau, etc. - that most people could happily settle here for several months. The house itself is a clean, light, decent space, well stocked with everything you could need, whatever the weather (which, for our fortnight stay, was wall-to-wall sunshine - a couple of afternoon storms aside). The walk into the village of Soubes is a pleasant 15-20 minutes, much of it alongside the river. (We enjoyed the walk in with our daughters - aged 6 and 8 - to fetch bread for breakfast each morning.) The village itself is attractive, with a well-stocked small shop and good cafe-restaurant. All in all, we would highly recommend this property. We generally try to stay somewhere different each year but are seriously considering a return visit to La Lavande.

Ideal Holiday Getaway

  • 5 of 5

This villa was wonderful. It was clean both inside the property and in the surrounding grounds. The gardens and pool are well kept too. There is plenty to do in the area e.g. canoeing, pedalo, walking, it is easy to reach by air/hire car or if you are driving and it is also handily located - 10-15 mins walk from Soubes where there is a friendly restaurant and a boulangerie. We would recommend it to anyone who wants to relax or have an active holiday with the fmily or their friends.

Soubes is a pretty village in the wine growing region of Languedoc Rousillon where narrow sreets with flower laden balconies lead to a shady square with cafe/restaurant and small supermarket. There are mountain views all around and the ancient market town of Lodeve is only 6 km away. Many beautiful walks including a botanical mountain path are all close by and stunning scenery including the dramatic Cirque de Navacelle where you can bathe in rock pools of crystal clear water from the mountains is only a short drive away. Montpellier and the Mediterranean coast is only 45 minutes by car with golf courses and several good beaches and numerous seafood restaurants. The whole area is studded with sleepy villages set in lovely scenery.

We can also offer organised activities such as bird watching, wine tasting, cycling(including ebikes) and hiking through our connection with Themed Holiday ideas.com : http://www.themedholidayideas.com/index.php/pr

Other Activities: pedalos on Lac de Salagou, wine tasting in local vineyard (1km)

Small Christmas market in Soubes village usually the first weekend in December.
