Chalet Chintalaya is a lovely riverside chalet located in the heart of Chamonix so within easy walking distance to all the town's amenities, shops, bars and restaurants.

Chintalaya has recently been refurbished to a high standard and offers a contemporary yet homely feel making for a relaxing stay. On the ground floor there is a large dining room, newly fitted kitchen, an en-suite double/twin bedroom, an en-suite double bedroom and a TV room with a double sofa bed. There is a separate WC on this level but bathroom facilities for guests staying in the TV room would be shared with the bedrooms on the same floor. On the upper floor there is a comfortable lounge with log burner and 3 further en-suite bedrooms, all of which can be made up as doubles or twins. This chalet has all the advantages of being central with the bonus of being next to the River L'Arve which means it's quiet and enjoys mountain views. The chalet also has a decked terrace and garden area to relax in after days spent on the mountains!

Chalet Chintalaya has the fantastic combination of being extremely central yet peaceful due to its position next to the River L’Arve. It's operated as self-catered during the summer with the option of a catered package during the Winter.

Chamonix is a truly amazing place. Situated at the foot of the spectacular Mont Blanc massif, it is an elegant mountain town steeped in centuries of alpine tradition. The town draws people from all over the world – both the holiday-maker and those looking for adventure, whether walkers, mountain bikers, paragliders or mountaineers.

The town centre is a vibrant place full of bustling restaurants and bars. Sitting outside one of the many pavement cafés is a great way of taking in the atmosphere of the cobbled streets whilst admiring the stunning mountain backdrop. A wide range of shops offers everything from traditional regional fayre and souvenirs to stylish fashion and technical mountain equipment.

The Saturday market is well worth a visit for the locally made produce brought in from all over the Haute-Savoie region.

Mont Blanc, ‘the Giant of the Alps’, has always held a magnetic power of attraction. Chintalaya is just minutes walking distance to the Aiguille du Midi cable car, the highest cable car ascent in Europe.

The ride takes you up to the rooftops of Europe and to one of the most popular panoramic viewpoints in the world. Accomplished mountaineers, high-altitude climbers and experienced skiers practise side by side with paragliders whilst tourists marvel at the breathtaking scenery.

‘La Mer de Glace’ (the Sea of Ice) is the largest glacier in France and can be approached in several ways: from the comfort of the panoramic terrace; by visiting the ice grotto, skilfully carved anew each year; or more athletically, skiing down the famous Vallee Blanche (White Valley) or by hiking through the seracs.There are a number of day trips around the Haute-Savoie region:The beautiful town of Annecy, lying on the rippling shores of the Lac d’Annecy, where water and mountains blend admirably together.

Gorgeous chalet in Chamonix village

Chalet Chintalaya is very central - 2 minutes walk to main village street and on the river. The house is well presented and had everything we needed. The biggest plus is that all 5 rooms have their own bathrooms ! We were very happy with the whole place plus Mountain Base who helped us from begining to the end of our trip. We would come back without a doubt !

Travelling around the Chamonix Valley

Although a car provides additional flexibility, Chamonix has a regular free in-valley bus service. Guests with either a “carte d’hote” or a ski pass can use the buses to move around the valley from Les Houches to Le Tour with stops at all the lift stations. There are also shuttle buses called “les Mulets” which are free and circulate the centre of town.

Getting to Chamonix by car

From France: accessible directly via the Autoroute Blanche (A40), which connects to the European motorway network.

Geneva Airport is approx 100km from Chamonix. Cost in tolls is about €6 for a normal car, all major credit cards are accepted 24/7. Don’t get money from the airport – Swiss Francs are not acceptable!

From Switzerland: Motorway to Martigny, then Col de la Forclaz, Col des Montets. Martigny is approximately 50km from Chamonix.

From Italy: Motorway to the Mont-Blanc tunnel near Courmayeur. Chamonix is 15km from the Italian border via Mont-Blanc Tunnel.

By Train

There is a SNCF railway station in Chamonix. It is serviced by the TER regional train. There are TGV high-speed mainline train connections from St Gervais-le Fayet railway station, just 20km away.

The Mont Blanc Express: This SNCF railway line serves all villages from St Gervais-le Fayet to Martigny (Switzerland) via Servoz, Les Houches, Chamonix, Argentière and Vallorcine.

By Bus/Mini Bus

There are coach services through SAT who provides daily connections with Geneva and Italy.

There are many transfer companies in Chamonix who run mini buses to and from Airports. You can either book a private or a shared transfer. ?
