Cabin w/ 3 BR, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-7)
About Robert Keller
Born in Phila, and moved to Bucks county Pa. Spent many years working as a remodeling contrator and then later retired from a river recreational business called 'River Country' famous for river tubing. This business was in operation for 37 years. Sold River Country, retired and purchased the 400 acre country estate I currently live on.
Robert Keller purchased this Cabin in 2006
Why Robert Keller chose Weatherly
I call it my 'heavens waiting place'...I always dreamed of flying and now I have my own airstrip and hangars for my 'toys'. The previous property I lived on was in the flood planes and had flooded 3 times. Now we are at 1200 ft elevation, so there isn't much chance of flooding here. Our new property, located along a river, has a stream that runs through it and has 3 ponds. Most importantly it is secluded and protected by approximately 40,000 acres of state game lands.
What makes this Cabin unique
Watching a Colombian coffee commercial featuring Juan Valdez, it showed a rustic cabin, and every man dreams of a mountain cabin. Myself being a contractor, I decided that if I ever had the opportunity I would accept the challenge of building one, just like the one on tv. A writer from NY commented that he just had to get out of the city and clear his mind, spiritually and mentally, and we found that that is exactly what all our guests go away with.

We had a great time in the Brookside cabin. The pictures accurately depict the rustic nature of the home and land. We enjoyed hiking the property and down to the waterfall. We also enjoyed riding the ATVs. The property owners are close by and check in to make sure you're having a good time, but we found them to be lovely and enjoyed speaking with them. Our party took their advice and ate at the Powerhouse Eatery which was wonderful. The only criticism I have is the wood furniture can be uncomfortable to sit in for longer periods of time. We enjoy sitting around talking and playing games and the wood carved furniture is not the best for that (although it is beautiful). Overall, nice house with outdoor activities. I imagine it is even better in the warmer months or with a snowy winter!
The perfect getaway!!
Thank you for a wonderful house and hospitality. We loved everything about our stay from the moment we got in. Looking forward to come back .
Overall experience was truly spectacular. We loved having no wifi or cell service. Created bonding and family time. Marie was such a wonderful, beautiful person. She made us feel like we were “home”. Her and Tom are special people. We hope to make this trip every year. It was clean, beds were comfortable. Gas grill. Plenty of towels. If your into cooking the home has pretty much all you need. The hiking is magnificent! The kids loved the pond with the boats, zip line, and peddle boat. The bonfires at night were so much fun!! We are so thankful to have found this slice of heaven, and really felt like I knew Marie forever she is just a sweetheart! Jill, Joe, Madison and Olivia.
Exactly as we hoped!
This stay was (just about) exactly what we hoped for. The property and cabins are beautiful, breathtaking. We stayed in the lower level apartment rather than the bi-level home which was perfect for my fiance and I. There's a path into the woods just behind the house leading to a waterfall (you can hear it but not really see it), and we saw a bear down there! We also had a campfire, and the owner (Tom) graciously let us use the fire pit near the pond rather than by our cabin since we wanted some privacy and to try and see some meteors from the meteor shower.
There are a few things to note which, as long as you're prepared for, do not affect the 5 star rating.
First - we only had one set of towels and no paper towels. This would've been fine since you usually have to bring that anyway, but this listing said it was included so we didn't. The owners was super nice and I'm sure he would've ran it right down if we asked for it, but we didn't bother asking because we wanted our privacy.
Which brings me to my next point. The owner is probably the nicest and most hospitable person in the world, but he did pop in on us and was generally around pretty frequently. He's not annoying at all, but if you're looking for total privacy you should set those expectations in the beginning.
Overall, there is lots to do here. The owner offered us fishing equipment, bikes, firewood, etc. Everything you could ask for in an area like this! He even offered to take us around the property on his ATVs which we definitely would've taken him up on if we had more time.
The area is nice because it's pretty secluded, not like some of the more commercialized areas of the Poconos. We had an excellent meal at Powerhouse Eatery (and we frequent fine dining so you can trust our opinion there!), and were able to completely enjoy the property and our little getaway.
This place is great, the owner is great. We plan to return every year now! Thanks for hosting us, Tom!
These people were a lovely couple, and I'm very glad they chose our facilities to announce their engagement. I'd like to apologize about the towels/paper towels. We strive to keep the cabins up to our 5 star standards and to keep our guests happy. Since their goal is to return each year, we do hope one of those days would be their honeymoon!
Many thanks, Thomas McBrien
Enjoyed our stay. Accommodations were amazing. Arielle and her grandpop were the nicest people and made us feel right at home. We can't wait to stay again.
Beautiful, quiet and remote setting - great hosts!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The setting is spectacular with hiking, biking and fishing within a short hop from the front porch. The Brookside Lodges are fantastic places to spend a weekend or a week in the woods. The cottages are on the edge of the owner's estate, which is fully kitted out and you can access the swimming pond, games barn and many other amenities. Each cottage has a great wrap around porch with swings, hammocks, tables and chairs, and a new gas grill.
What sets the Brookside lodges apart is the attentiveness and availability of the owners. Upon arrival, we were offered a tour of the property, the use of the swimming and fishing ponds, use of bikes, and an ATV tour. Wood, kindling, and newspaper for the outdoor fire pit appeared from thin air alongside marshmallow spears for making smores. You can't beat attentive service like that!
The kitchens are well equipped, but are a practical kitchen. The fireplaces are beautiful and very (very) warm. In the Brookside cabin, the main bathroom has a claw tub with a European shower, which for us was not an issue but some may not prefer. Note that there is no wifi or large screen TV, but given the setting and general perfection any guest more interested in surfing the web or watching tv than being outside and enjoying the quiet needs his or her head examined.
We hope our travels bring us back to enjoy this unique setting again in the future. Our kids are already making their pitch to return. Many thanks for a great weekend!
Located in the heart of the Pocono mountains there are plenty of activities winter or summer. You will find many fun things to do are only a short drive away, or enjoy the quiet and the views of the brook at your home away from home.
