About Arielle McBrien

Born in Phila, and moved to Bucks county Pa.

Spent many years working as a remodeling contrator and then later retired from a river recreational business called 'River Country' famous for river tubing. This business was in operation for 37 years. Sold River Country, retired and purchased the 400 acre country estate I currently live on.

Arielle McBrien purchased this cabin in 2006

Why Arielle McBrien chose Poconos

I call it my 'heavens waiting place'...I always dreamed of flying and now I have my own airstrip and hangars for my 'toys'. The previous property I lived on was in the flood planes and had flooded 3 times. Now we are at 1200 ft elevation, so there isn't much chance of flooding here. Our new property, located along a river, has a stream that runs through it and has 3 ponds. Most importantly it is secluded and protected by approximately 40,000 acres of state game lands.

What makes this cabin unique

Watching a Colombian coffee commercial featuring Juan Valdez, it showed a rustic cabin, and every man dreams of a mountain cabin. Myself being a contractor, I decided that if I ever had the opportunity I would accept the challenge of building one, just like the one on tv. A writer from NY commented that he just had to get out of the city and clear his mind, spiritually and mentally, and we found that that is exactly what all our guests go away with.

Best time ever !

  • 5 of 5

The house was absolutely perfect in every way!

The location is amazing and the surroundings are stunning. Owners and family were fantastic and went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and happy with our stay.

We have rented multiply vacation homes and never had such a high level of service.

This place is pretty much right in the middle of everything we wanted to do - white water rafting, fishing, biking, hiking, pool, zip lining... I can go for hours, but at the same time we felt very secluded like we had our own little "piece of heaven".

The week we stayed wasn't enough to do and see everything this place has to offer.

We simply could not have picked a better vacation home and cannot wait to go back for more !!!

Perfect family getaway for Christmas

  • 5 of 5

We wanted to get away this Christmas, but we wanted a cozy place where we could open presents by the fire on Christmas morning, make breakfast and enjoy outdoor winter fun. With three adults and four kids ages 8 - 12, this cottage suited us perfectly!

Pros:

--Beautiful property with a dramatic waterfall just a 10 minute walk away. Sledding/tubing would have also been available if the weather had permitted and the owners provide the tubes!

--Very private feel with wooded views off the back deck

--With four energetic kids, the downstairs game room is absolutely priceless. Foosball, ping-pong, and air hockey in a kid-proof space. Imagine enjoying a glass of wine by the fire while the kids can be as loud as they want and are completely entertained without electronic devices!

--Kitchen was perfectly functionally and stocked with basic tools for feeding a family

--Bedrooms are spacious

--These cabins were clearly built by someone who cared and wasn't just looking to make a quick buck.

--The owner as well as the staff were friendly and accommodating. The owner even brought over a pre-lit Christmas tree to make our cabin more festive!

Cons

The only con is that the cabin we rented had two upstairs bedrooms that shared a bathroom with a claw footed tub with a faucet and a telephone style wand (no shower stall or curtain). The shower is on the game room level, so if you're a shower-type, you'll need to go down two levels. We really didn't feel inconvenienced at all since we're all family, but some people might be a little shy about sharing this space.

To sum it up, we had a wonderful, memorable stay and plan to return!

Great Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

My family and I loved our time here this spring! The privacy, and freedom to enjoy the beautiful surroundings, combined with the high quality of the cabin was exactly what we were looking for. We'd recommend it to anyone.

Perfect Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed at the Brookside Cabin for spring break with a couple of friends. The residence itself is very comfortable with many activities in and around the cabin (ie snow tubing, hiking trails, the game room, etc.). The staff & owner of the estate are very kind, helpful, and informative. Additionally the location is perfect as there are two major ski resorts, whitewater rafting sites, paint balling fields, and more all within an hour to thirty minutes drive away. Would definitely recommend staying at these cabins when taking a vacation in the Poconos year round.

Likely to visit again!

BEST CABIN I EVER SEEN!!!!

  • 5 of 5

this was the most amazing place I have ever been to, the owner and manager are very trustworthy and pleasant to deal with. We were taken on a free snowmobile ride throughout the forest which was amazing! There was a trail for beautiful sightseeing. I can't wait to go back, I went in Feb with the amazing snowfall which made the experience so much better. We went snow tubing, sledding which they supplied! The cabin was so warm and spacious! i want to make sure that we experience every season when we get the chance! Going back in June to celebrate my birthday!
