*RATES QUOTED ARE PER ROOM PER NIGHT*
Owned by a German national, who has been living in Sri Lanka for over 30 years, this beautiful holiday bungalow is comfortable, welcoming and homely.
The Bungalow, Pantiya Estate, Sri Lanka was a planter's colonial residence. It was built in 1907 by a British planter. It nestles in the hills of Pantiya Estate, which is a producing rubber, coconut and tea plantation.
The building retains its old world charm. Its spacious bedrooms, extensive gardens with a swimming pool, views over rolling hills, and the mild climate all combine to make The Bungalow, Pantiya Estate, Sri Lanka an inviting property for families or friends.
The property is ideal for families with children due to the large gardens and space. There are a lot of interesting things to do bringing everyone closer to nature and enjoying a relaxed hillside holiday.
The Bungalow has 2 family rooms with high ceilings and British colonial features. These rooms have a double bed and an attached bathroom. Each suite room can accommodate up to 2 adults and 2 kids or 3 adults purely due to their size and spaciousness.
The 3 guestrooms are overlooking the pool. They are comfortably furnished with twin or double beds and have en-suite bathrooms. A long veranda outside the guest rooms with lounge chairs is the perfect setting to read your favourite book or just relax by the pool.
All bathrooms have showers, natural daylight, and ample space.
LIVING AND DINING ROOMS:
Inside The Bungalow, the living room has cosy sofas and antique furnishings from Sri Lanka and Germany.
With its 7-seater table and chairs, the dining hall is where our guests enjoy the scrumptious home cooked Eastern and Western cuisine.

We are the Family Hendrichs. The Bungalow is our holiday retreat, but Iresha spends most of her time here as it is a large property and requires management to ensure it is maintained to high standards for our guests.
Iresha will always be at The Bungalow to welcome you and ensure your party is looked after during your stay. Whatever you need, she is the person to ask and she will organise it for you.
We also have other staff members in the property including a cook and cleaner, who are managed by Iresha.
Natascha Hendrichs purchased this bungalow in 1980
The Bungalow is a lovely retreat. It is a spacious and comfortable property which will feel like your home away from home. It is located on top of a mountain, so there are no neighbours or any traffic thus making is a very quiet and relaxing environment.
The bungalow is surrounded by a plantation of various trees such as coconut trees, rubber trees, fruit trees and even spice plants. You are surrounded by nature which you can appreciate with the natural food and environment.
We also have a fantastic cook, who is specially good at making Sri Lankan food. Your food will be cooked to order, so you can decide what you would like to eat for each meal and he will prepare this for you.

If you want to experience Sri Lanka rather than be a tourist then this is the place to stay. The bungalow is set on the top of the Pantiya Estate plantation in lush green vegetation with a view out over the valley.
We were welcomed with bougainvillea garlands and a coconut drink after our long journey from the airport.
It was a great place for our family reunion and Iresha, Lionel and Adi couldn't do enough to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. They arranged our transport and helped us plan our outings to Udawalawe, Galle, Bentota, local markets, temples. Iresha came with us on some of our trips and acted as a knowledgeable guide.
The wonder of waking to the sounds and smells of the plantation will stay with me, I wish you could 'bottle it'. Watching monkeys in the treetops from the patio, sharing breakfast of local foods and luscious fruit on the balcony, laughing at the nephews playing 'chuck the chicken' in the pool or playing carrom (local board game) in the evening all added to a very special week of new and exciting experiences.
Yes there was a constant trail of ants in the bathroom, the cockerel can wake you anytime from 4 am, you can hear the local temple horn at 5 am, the DVD player didn't work, the drive from the airport is long (this will be improved as the last section of the expressway is opened), and the road up to the plantation is bumpy BUT you get a comfy bed at the end of each day and a warm welcome each morning.
It is well worth experiencing a truly adventurous holiday of a lifetime.
