We are a young English family who have holidayed in Provence for years and liked it so much we bought a home here.
Sarah and John Dixon purchased this villa in 2012
The clear blue sky, stars at night, wonderful food and wine produced locally, the friendly people, and so many amenities within the town of St Remy, the amazing history of this area, and above all the climate and lifestyle provides lifetime memories every vacation. This is our family holiday home - we hope you love it as much as we do
We love relaxing by the pool, sitting in the shade and reading a book. Wednesday market is a must - fresh produce for the week - we cook at home and enjoy with some local wine of course. In the afternoons we walk into town and enjoy the seasonal activities. We can walk from our home up through the Alpilles; there are so many routes and we admire the landscape as Cezanne and Van Gogh did. We visit the many nearby villages and dine out in so many excellant local eateries - on our return we sit back and relax in our beautiful home and enjoy some local digestifs!
We recently spent 3 weeks in this beautiful home while enjoying all of the wonderful joys and experiences of Provence. Having rented vacation homes for 30 years we can unequivocally report that this was our best home rental experience. The house is spacious, the kitchen is stupendous and the pool and outdoor area provides an oasis following a day of visiting one of the charming villages of Provence or the Luberon. The location is about as good as it gets, whether you are walking into St Remy, visiting vineyards and wineries, exploring Roman ruins, dining at enjoyable restaurants or driving 10-40 minutes to shop at one of the daily markets in a dozen nearby towns.
When you add to this the ease of working with Sarah you will have a very, very special experience and vacation.
Thanks for an excellent holiday. The Villa was amazing, very comfortable & clean. We made full use of the pool, table tennis table, gas BBQ & outside eating areas, all in all a very relaxing 2 weeks. Lots of places to visit in the area, St Remy was beautiful, with numerous excellent restaurants to choose from. Would definitely recommend this this villa, Sarah was incredibly helpful before we arrived, and Carine the housekeeper on call at all times to help us if we needed it during our stay.
We have recently returned from a wonderful week in this lovely house which is a true home-from-home. We received a very friendly welcome to the house and were given a very helpful guided tour so that we knew where everything was and how it all worked. The house is very well organised and equipped and spotlessly clean. The kitchen is spectacular with lots of doors opening to the terrace and pretty garden which enables you to flow from one area to the other seamlessly. The house is very comfortable with wonderful beds and bathrooms and air conditioning throughout. The pool is lovely and we spent many happy hours swimming, dozing, reading, eating and playing table tennis in the garden. When we could bear to tear ourselves away, we ventured to nearby Avignon and the Camargue. We also spent a wonderful morning wandering round the weekly market in St Remy which is an experience not to be missed. The town has some nice restaurants which are walkable to if you fancy stretching your legs before feasting but we also very much enjoyed cooking and eating at the house - there is a fabulous supermarket in the town where you can buy pretty much anything you might want to eat and drink and the quality is superb. There were 3 generations in our party of 5 and all of us had an extremely relaxing and happy holiday. We very much hope to return to this area and this house to enjoy another lovely holiday.
The house is spacious, comfortable, and cool in the provencal heat.
The kitchen is well-equipped and we enjoyed using the excellent stove to cook our fish and vegetables purchased at the St. Remy farmers’’ market. The location of the house is ideal as it is a short distance from a large supermarket, many restaurants, and beautiful villages. After a day of sightseeing, we loved our rounds of ping pong and dips in the refreshing pool.
This is a lovely house that easily accommodated us -- three couples. The grounds are exquisite with shaded areas for dining outside (and a grill for grilling which was important to us), a pool, and a garden filled with lavender, rosemary, wild poppies and other delights. You can easily walk or drive into St. Remy, and we used it as a jumping off point to explore a great of Provence. It was wonderful to come back in the afternoons and jump into the pool! This was a good find.
Last summer my husband and I were able to make a dream come true by renting this beautiful property for two weeks and inviting some of our family to join us. One of our granddaughters had researched a lot of properties in Provence and decided this one was the best for our family's needs. She was right. It had wonderful space for three families, lovely amenities, and a gorgeous pool and outdoor dining area. Unfortunately it was so hot that we did not eat outside as much as we would have liked, but that made the pool and the indoors air-conditioning even more welcoming. I will always remember sipping my morning coffee on the patio, smelling the lavender, and listening to the music of the cicadas. My husband and I had been to Provence previously so we were aware that being in St. Remy was an excellent location for exploring the area--and we easily made day trips to Les Baux, the Pont du Garde, Nimes, Arles, and even the perched villages of the Luberon. St Remy itself is a very appealing town and offers some major tourist attractions, namely Glanum, an amazing archaeological site, and St. Paul de Mausole, where Van Gogh spent one year as a patient and produced 143 paintings. Both were truly wonderful to visit.
On two separate occasions we hired a chef to prepare dinner at "our home" --a fun and fabulous experience. And we also enjoyed the restaurants that St. Remy offered. The owners of the property could not have been nicer or more helpful. In summary the two weeks at our Mas in St. Remy exceeded our expectations and were indeed a dream come true!
Gliding school nearby in Romanin, local vineyards, Just 20 min walk to the historical centre of St Remy, with Roman Glanum remains, where Van Gogh stayed and worked, birthplace of Nostradamus, colourful markets, many fine shops, restaurants and cafes. And so much more!
