Clean beach cottage in a conveniently located lake front community within a mile of the beach. Private neighborhood, great for family walks and bike riding. Walking distance to restaurants, convenience and liquor stores, movie store, beach, gym, play ground, etc. Trolley from house to beach. Beach passes for all day parking. Large yard with basketball hoop and common areas for hanging out and playing your favorite sports. Tennis Courts directly across the street. Wireless access.
Awesome house. Lots of room, clean, fully stocked kitchen, great front porch, lots of space for parking, great location close to restaurants, beach, and bars. We come here every year and enjoy it more and more each time as we get to know the area better. The house is perfectly designed with lots of common area space, large bedrooms and bathrooms, great driveway, garage, etc. The outdoor shower is very large. The tennis courts across the street are great fun. The lake and dock access at the end of the circle is great for kids. if we want to drive, we can always find awesome food and shopping within a mile, or we can walk just a few blocks and find everything we need.
The home was wonderful, clean & easy to get to. Short walk to the shops or the beach. We will definitely go back.
We had six in our group and the house was the perfect compliment to a great week at the beach. The weather was beautiful with nice breezes since our stay was just before Hurricane Irene with a little rumbling from the earthquake thrown in. The house is up-to-date, well maintained and comfortably furnished. The small tv room on the upper level with french doors allowed the teens to watch tv late and gave them their own space. The beds were all comfortable and we enjoyed eating our meals on the rear, screened porch and having our morning coffee on the expansive front porch. There are parking passes for residential streets close to the beach, which is helpful. The trolley that takes folks to the beach comes through the subdivision often which was good for the late risers or those who had enough sun and sand, only 10-minute ride. While we were there for the beach, we enjoyed lovely morning walks along the lake. If you're going to eat good, "bad" food, the best place is at the beach. Grotto's Pizza is less than to be desired, too much sauce and no pull in the cheese. I recommend Mancini's on Fenwick or J&J in West Ocean City for brick fired pies. Also, Anthony's famous for their steamship roast beef and great breakfast sandwiches as well as Bayside Skillet for crepes and omelettes both in O.C. I think the owners are trying to recommend spots that are convenient to the house, but you've got to venture out for the really good, "bad-beach" food. Other than that they are doing a wonderful job.
Overall good house. We had nine adults one toddler and a medium dog. It slept us all but two adults had to sleep in bunk beds, and another couple had to push twin beds together. Another person took a mattress from a bunk bed and put it in the tv room to sleep, but that room has see-through french doors. The living room furniture was sparse but the whole 'great room' area was nice as a whole, very open and conducive to a large group. The rooms are spacious with a dresser and closet in each. The two non master rooms share a jack and jill bathroom but it has no where to hang your bath towels and the shower is a little small. Also one of the door locks does not latch so you'll need to knock before entering! Traffic was awful on Saturday coming in, but that is to be expected. The turn into Bethany Lake is easy to miss and making a left hand turn out of there takes a lot of patience! The beach was really crowded on Sunday but thinned out during the weekdays. The waves were good for body boarding and most of the time the water was pretty clean, no seaweed or other things floating around. There are outlet malls close by and a ton of cute shops on Garfield Parkway. Small boardwalk area. Reccommed DB fries and Kuhr Bros custard, as well as Rita's. The Grotto pizza was ok if you like a lot of sauce. Mango's was good for cocktails, with a hapy our 12-6 but one person in our group had errounous charges on her debit card and the only place it was out of her hands was there, so be vigilant. I can't think of anything else to add!
This house met most of our needs. We had 9 adults, 1 toddler, and a medium sized dog. You will need a car to get to the beach, especially if you have a lot of things. About 1.5 miles from the beach, the passes were a must as meter parking is .25 for 10 min! (quarters only) The trolly took about 20 minutes. The space was fantastic, did not feel crowded at all. The kitchen had a lot of storage, many closets and dressers for clothing. Extra blankets, pillows. The outside shower was key after a day at the beach. The back screened porch was great for having crabs and hanging beach towels and swimsuits to dry.
My husband and I stayed on the 1st floor master with our 1 year old. It was nice, but could be loud as right off the kitchen and the lights shine in through the back porch into the room. The room has a sliding door connected to the porch, as does the kitchen/dining room.
The only real downfall was the living room furniture, there was not enough to seat all of us, we ended up bringing down the chair from the playroom, which helped. The lake was not much, but nice to look at. The area is quiet for being right off Rt 26. Rita's, Grotto's are a walkable distance.
FYI if you rent this house garbage pick up is Tues, Thurs, Sat and there is no recycle pick up (we did not know any of this). If you want to recycle there are bins off of Rt 1 North, about 1/4 mile up the road on the left. The house has a hand-mixer, not a blender.
This house is as good as it looks in the pics. It is in the middle of a small development. We had 7 adults, one toddler, one baby, and a dog, and we were all comfortable. The lake referred to isn't much, and the house is very close to a busy road, although the road it is on is very quiet. The trolley going to the beach area is 25 cents per person, and takes about 1/2 hour to get there.
Bethany Beach is a great family vacation spot. It is known for children's activities on the board walk and in water parks, putt- putt golf courses, etc. It has an equal amount to offer to adults - outstanding shopping, antiquing, golfing and fine dining. It is a 10 minute drive to Ocean City, Maryland and a 20 minute drive to Rehobeth , Deleware, which both offer additional children and adult attractions.
