Shannon – Thank you very much for opening your Skytop cottage to us. It was perfect. We had a blast. The lodge is amazing to look at and wonder around. Once we found our way around we found plenty to keep us busy. We took your advice and hiked out to the Indian Ladder Falls with the whole family (Ages 3 to 72). Later in the afternoon my husband and I and our 7 year old son did the hike to Leavitt Falls – what a sight, after all that rain the falls were massive. Very cool. The dog sleds were closed for Spring cleaning – we’ll have to check that out next time.
I just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed ourselves. The house was immaculate and had everything we needed. Our favorite room was the dining room with all the windows, we had great meals and played games and had a lot of good laughs around the table.
I stayed here with my family in August and we had a fabulous time. The resort is really fantastic. In the past we stayed at the hotel, but the cost is about $500 per night per room and this year we had a bigger group so we thought we would stay at a house on property. Every generation really enjoyed themselves. The kids learned to play golf, I spent time at the spa, we hiked, biked and swam as a family. We all loved the live entertainment at the hotel each night.
The house is a really nice. It is one of the original cottages on the resort, and is the closest private house to the lodge. The cottage is wood shingled, and has nice wood floors and wood trim throughout the house. The house was very clean when we were there. The kitchen floor is old, but clean, and I understand it is being replaced soon. It has 7 bedrooms. 6 are really quite large (as large as most hotel rooms) and one that is a bit smaller but it still has a full size bed in it with a dresser and a chair. The kitchen is on the small side but has all new appliances and nice cabinetry. The dining room seats about 8-10 people and the living room has a really nice fireplace and a big plasma TV with digital cable over it. What was so surprising to us was how big all the bedrooms were. When you email the owners, they will send you a brochure with lots of pictures of the house.
The house is definitely really nice but if you are planning on spending a lot of time cooking or have a large group that wants to hang out at home, you may want to have a house with larger public areas. If you want a nice house in a great resort, close to everything and have bedrooms to spare than this is a great place for you. Even though we were a big group we found ourselves spending more time hanging out together at the lodge and doing activities than at the house. I would absolutly recommend this place and have already told several of my friends about it.
I travel extensively. The combination of terrific golf facilities, dining, outdoor activities and lodge make Skytop best resort of its type. Skytop deserves its Four Star Rating.
We enjoyed the picturesque house located on the 5th tee. The bedrooms were surprising large. The house combines old-world charm and need to have high tech amenities (e.g., broad band internet and flat panel TV). The house was clean and well maintained - very important considerations for my family.
We really enjoyed ourselves and plan to be back next year.
We stayed at Cottage 45 July 2016 and had a fantastic time. This is our second time staying at the cottage and it won't be our last! There is room for everyone and all of the rooms have window AC units so that makes it very enjoyable during the hotter summer months. We enjoyed having morning coffee on the screened in porch trying to decide on what we wanted to do for the day. Everyone can find something to do with all of the activities available...we spent a lot of time at the pool relaxing, taking great hikes - West Rim Trail and Indian Ladder Falls, cooking awesome meals and I think we participated in all of the activities on the lawn behind the Lodge which is a very short walk from the Cottage and we enjoyed skeet shooting this year, with some of the younger of our crowd going 3 times!. The Lodge is a special place that takes you back so make sure you spend some time enjoying it, check out the activities board, stop in the Tea Room (great shakes!), the Tap Room (casual, great food and drink), the Library Lounge or just sit on the large back porch in one of the rocking chairs and enjoy. The Cottage, the Lodge and the grounds/activities always make our time there so enjoyable and relaxing...we really feel like we had a vacation!!...if you can't tell, I would highly recommend staying here!
We rented this house for our yearly family vacation. We range in age from 12 to 80 and everyone had a good time. The house worked perfectly as the older people took the bedrooms downstairs and the younger people took the bedrooms upstairs. There was plenty of room for all. The location was perfect as well for access to the lodge, horseback riding, hiking trails, and the adventure center. No need for a car, which was extra nice for the younger people. The other really nice thing was there was plenty to do together as a family, and plenty to do for young and old alike. This was a great place for a family vacation!
Cottage 45 was phenomenal. We rented the house for a college friends wedding with a big group. We ended up having a blast. Plenty of space and the proximity to the lodge removed the need for any driving. Highly recommend.
My friends and I had a great trip to SkyTop in April for a wedding at the Lodge. It was SO close to the Lodge -- less than a 10 minute walk, with plenty of room for everyone in our group (10 adults) to sleep comfortably. There are also plenty of activities offered from SkyTop if you have any down time. Perfect for a weekend away, or just for a large group that does not want to get individual rooms at the Lodge.
