Originally, I'm from Connecticut. During the 80's I lived in Andrews up in a 'holler' and never had the gorgeous view I now enjoy. I then relocated to FL for 15 years and in 1999 decided I had to have another home in Andrews. I purchased 'this old house' and have had extensive improvements done. The 'Moose' was originally a single room over the workshop. I designed and decorated the cabin as it now exists and enjoyed watching it being built in 2007. The view of the northern mountains is breath-taking! I have thoroughly enjoyed all the comments from my guests, many of whom have become my friends.
I work full-time as Radiology Director in a hospital in GA and am away from my home at least ten hours a day. My guests have total privacy, but like knowing I am here in the evenings should they have a problem or question. I have two 'inside' dogs who were hard-luck stories but have adapted to being spoiled house-dogs very quickly!
I have traveled extensively throughout the USA as well as foreign countries and have never found a more beautiful place to live than right here in Andrews, NC.
We were looking for a great place to stay and we had a tight budget to work with. This place couldn't have worked out better. It was close enough to everything we wanted to see. Plus we loved the winery/brewery that we could walk down the street to(with a 10% discount!). Everything you could think of was at the cabin. Even more food then we thought. Most places we've stayed never even offer any food. All you really needed was yourself and some clothes. We would definitely stay again and will recommend to people traveling in the smokies. I already recommended to my brother.
We stayed at Moose Crossing and it was like home away from home because Mrs Pat had anything and everything you could possibly need. My husband and I stayed and will definitely be back again. The best rental I have ever been to.
Moose Crossing is a fantastic place to stay for a night (although highly recommend more than one night) or as long as your heart desires. The cabin had everything someone could have forgotten and then some. The owners are wonderful people who go out of their way to make sure that your stay here is everything you would hope for. The side deck is the PERFECT place to sit and have a candle light dinner or drink coffee in the mornings. I am looking forward to staying here again.
I had the pleasure of spending several weeks at Moose Crossing Cabin while on vacation. Great location. Private, yet conveniently located close to shopping, restaurants, winery ect... Cabin is stocked with everything from soup to nuts. Just bring your clothes. If you forgot your housecoat, that's okay, there is plenty to go around. Owner was very pleasant and accommodating. I would recommend this place to anyone. Awesome stay!
For my first real vacation in 16 years, I couldn't have asked for better!!! For myself, a friend and my teenage daughter, this comfortable, cozy, adorably rustic, homey, moose themed cabin was the perfect getaway. There were comfy beds, a fireplace with firewood, kitchen stocked with everything needed to prepare a delicious breakfast, all the little things we might have forgotten (toothbrush, shampoo, lotion, etc.) plus, movies, books and games. Pat was the perfect host...warm, friendly and available, but not intrusive. The location is perfectly situated for sightseeing day trips. And, just a short walk down the road there is a wonderful winery/brewery with a casual, laid back atmosphere, music and hor d'oeuvres. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay!
Two ladies and a teenager were cozy comfy in this adorable moosefully decorated, fully stocked cabin close to town and within range of all the reasons we went to the Carolinas.
Our mantra quickly became "she's thought of EVERYTHING!" Pat wasn't kidding when she said all we needed was our clothes. She even had toothbrushes and bathrobes... just like a high end hotel!
We visited our hosts friend's winery/brewery just a short walk down the street. They offered music and libation, hors d'oeuvres and homemade pizza.... as you overlook the grapevine garden and gorgeous red roses. Lovely ambiance! Brought a bottle of wine back to cabin and the next night, we lit the fireplace... and, after our day of exploration in the Nantahala Forest, enjoyed a family-style movie from a nice selection in the cabin, and (moose of course) glass of wine with cheese and crackers from our well-stocked kitchen!
There were many options for dining on the wrap around porch! Breakfast out back overlooking the firepit/hammock area with the BBQ grill, listening to the forest sounds. ..or, would you prefer the verdant green birdhouse garden on the side... Or maybe the double rockers out front where you face the gorgeous ever-changing smoky mountain view? (Which is equally as fantastic from inside the cabin looking out the french doors!)
You can't go wrong staying at Pat's cozy "Moose Crossing Cabin"! Good things come in small well-equipped packages! Every detail has been meticulously executed... lighting, blankets, linens, toiletries, kitchen utensils, books, games, ... When the temperature dropped, we found two new looking radiators on the front porch with a note from Pat. The hosts live right next door, and let you know they are there for you without intruding on your privacy. Pat writes excellent directions and had a notebook full of restaurant recommendations.... and if you look in the back, you'll see a history of the building of Moose Crossing Cabin.
A little advice: Don't try to count all the mooses... there's just so much else to see and do in this beautiful part of NC! Enjoy! We sure did!🐴 Thank you, Pat, for sharing this magical place with us.
