Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time in this cottage and it met every expectation. The cottage was clean and well stocked. The view from the deck provided a full, spectacular view of the Damariscotta River. My husband enjoyed the sailboat and we both kayaked, exploring the coves around the cottage. The owners were immediately responsive and answered our every question. Highly recommend!

Ahhhh!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 3 had a lovely stay at La Casetta and Daria and Ed (and their dog Cosmo) were wonderful hosts. The cottage lies on the banks of the Damariscotta River so waking up to see the river and the current tide was a delight. The cottage is tucked away on a very private road so it is a great way to get away from everything but still very close to town - perfect location! Thank you for our pleasant stay.

Relaxing and convenient

The only thing better than the view was Daria's rhubarb crisp. We hope to return as soon as possible. Many thanks!

Wonderful Time!

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is very unique and comfortable, located right on the water and you cannot beat the private dock. Take the owners's canoe out and explore the river right from the house. The view from the balcony is marvelous and you get to watch tides come in and go all day long from your living room. The owners are very welcoming and will help you to figure out the area. There are many places to go and see or just relax on a beach. Be sure to take the Lobster Tour with the Lobstah Haul. We had a wonderful time in the area!!

Excellent

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here in August and had an unforgettable time. The cottage overlooks the Damariscotta river and was the perfect peaceful getaway we needed from the busy city life. Owners Daria and Ed are lovely people and help out with any questions or requests. The cottage comes with the use of a rowboat and canoes. The private dock is ideal if you are into fishing or crab catching. And despite being in a peaceful and private setting, the cottage is not isolated. The owners are close by and there are other properties nearby, but they are hidden from the view. Inside the cottage you have everything you need, a fully equipped kitchen and a lovely gas burning heater to warm up quickly if it gets cold at night. My 6 year old talks of going back there constantly and we hope to be back soon. It is simply a wonderful property for both romantic and family vacation.

Rustic and charming and close to everything!

  • 5 of 5

We just spent a relaxing week getting reacquainted with the charms of Damariscotta after a seven year absence! We love the proximity of the cottage to downtown Damariscotta....all the great shops and galleries and restaurants are just minutes away, but when you sit on the front porch overlooking the river, you feel you are all alone in the middle of the woods. The neighborhood is quiet, the neighbors are friendly (be sure to get fresh eggs from Becky!) and the owners are close enough to be helpful and available without being obtrusive. And they allowed us to bring our dog, who just fell in love with their dog Cosmo! We love the quaint cottage with its antiques and 1940's charm coupled with all the modern conveniences. Thanks Daria and Ed for allowing us to return..we will not wait another 7 years to come back!
