Linda or James Mathieu
About Linda or James Mathieu
We are a retired couple who moved to the U.P. full time in 2015 in order to enjoy the amazing people and stunning beauty of the Great North.
Linda or James Mathieu purchased this Cabin in 1997
Why Linda or James Mathieu chose Au Train
Camp Crowfish is unusual in that it retains a classic Up North cottage feel yet has the amenities expected in the modern world. When your drive through the woods and emerge into the gardens, your sense of well being increases dramatically. Your relaxation level will go off the charts.
What makes this Cabin unique
Shelter Bay is unique on Lake Superior in that it is a natural harbor, protected by Au Train Island. Fishing boats are moored in the bay. Shelter Bay has no public entry which makes a stay here a very special experience. If you are an early riser, enjoy your morning coffee at the shore watching the spectacular sunrise. In the evening, watching the moon rise and the stars shine at the campfire, comfortably seated in the lakeside Adirondack Chairs.

Wonderful Fall Weekend at Camp Crowfish
We really enjoyed our stay at the property. Its very conveniently located near Pictured rocks and Hiawatha national forest.
Linda was a very warm host and gave us great tips on things to do. She also baked us a cake to take away on our journey back!
Experiencing the sunrise over the lake from their deck is a must. We definitely plan on coming back!
Thank you so much for this lovely review. You were our last guests of the season. You helped us end a great summer on a high note. Wishing you a future of excellent adventures and happy travels.
Location of cabin
The area is amazing and the lake is beautiful. On the pictures it looked like the small cabin was by the water. In reality it’s in the front yard of the property right next to the garage. There’s no view of the lake from the guest house. There was no private area to be by the lake, the back yard is shared with the property owner. Very nice little cabin and everything worked. Enough hot water for 1 person to shower. Overall we had a great time, but the cabin wasn’t quite as advertised.
Thank you for the 4 Star rating especially since your stay was not what you were hoping for. The weather certainly didn't help. For the record, the listing information does state 'the property sits directly on Lake Superior, but the guest cabin is not on the lake.' Sorry this wasn't clear.
Such a lovely and cozy place to stay!
We SO enjoyed our stay at 'Camp Crowfish'! The cabin and amenities were delightful, and the hospitality was most welcoming and appreciated; thanks so much for everything, Jim and LInda! :-)
And it was a pleasure sharing our corner of the world with you! We are delighted you enjoyed your stay and wish you many more happy adventures in the future.
Our stay at Camp crowfish
We had an excellent time. The property was wonderful and very clean. View to Lake Superior was spectacular. You could not have asked for better hosts out of Jim & Linda. Best VBRO we have ever stayed at!!!
What a wonderful review! Thank you so much! We totally enjoyed having you stay with us. Capturing the double rainbow in camera the one evening was pretty spectacular! It was great hosting all three of you. And particularly special was the conversation I shared with C.
Nice for a UP get away
Beautiful area lots of scenic views.
