Wish we could have stayed longer!
We had a great time staying at Ron’s bungalow. There is much to see and do in the area and Ron was very helpful in giving us advice on where to go and what to see. He also set up a zip line tour and sunset cruise for us. We couldn’t have asked for better hospitality - Thank you Ron! Hope to be back again one day for a longer stay!
Thanks Valerie & Bryon,
It was a pleasure having you as my guest and hope you come back soon for a longer stay next time. There so much more for you to see & do in our area.
Slice of paradise indeed
We recently stayed in the surf shack and loved every minute of it. Ron was super helpful and accomidating in every way. The propery was perfect for relaxing in the gazibo or playing in the surf. So thankful we found this gem to come back to next time.
Affordable option - Pura Vida Costa Rica
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay thanks to Ron's hospitality. The beach was practically deserted and just stunning (jungle meets the sea). The water was so warm, perfect for jumping in the large waves and boogie boarding. We especially enjoyed our day exploring the towns south of Matapalo - lots of waterfalls, caves and quaint beach towns. Our 9 year old loved the morning "monkey show" outside our bungalow, watching them feast on Ron's bananas. We spent a day in Quepos at Manuel Antonio and a catamaran/snorkle/sunset cruise. It was a good recommendation from Ron based on what we thought we wanted to do but, honestly, but felt too crowded, touristy and over-rated. We enjoyed exploring on our own far better - it felt more authentic. We would recommend checking out RainMakers north of Quepos. It's a suspension bridge meets waterfall swimming kind of place (but way less touristy than Mistico in LaFortuna/Arenal).
Overall, we had a wonderful stay and are plotting about how and when we can go back. Thanks for everything, Ron!
Amazing place and location
Ron's studio bungalow was perfect for us (2 adults).
This place is definitely a slice of paradise!
Ron is great and very helpful if you need recommendations on the area.
10 out of 10!
Rooms were clean and comfy. Ron was amazing. The nearby beach is beautiful and private.
We stayed at Slice of Paradice for several nights in March 2018 with our 3 teenage kids. There was plenty of room for everyone. The gazebo right outside was perfect for dozing in the hammocks and coffee in the morning. The nearby beach was lovely-soft sand and almost empty. We saw sloths and white faced monkeys. Ron was helpful and attentive. We would definitely go back!!
The location of this property is great; not exactly right on the beach like we thought but great
Ron takes AMAZING care to make sure that his guests know the best places to eat and which tours are the best!! He arranged an all day boat tour for us which was fantastic; we saw whales, dolphins and swam with turtles and beautiful fish!!
The monkey show is surreal and makes this location in the jungle such a unique experience!!!
The studio bungalow has great air conditioning but it was lacking some updates such as a toilet and mattress and a clean fridge which are important. The kitchen needs some more utensils for the true chef at heart such as tongs, good knives and a great frying pan. We didn't mind eating out but part of the reason we stay in a Home Away is to do some cooking.
The gazebo with the hammocks is a perfect spot to relax and listen to the sounds of the jungle and the ocean at the same time!!!
Rob definitely wants his guests to be happy during their stay and this wasn't much appreciated!!!
Kirsten & Rob,
thanks for being my guest and what a beautiful day we picked to go to Cano Island, it was an experience & adventure I will alway remember listening to the whales singing and communicating with each other & the snorkeling was also great that day.
So sorry for the upgrades that needs attention & hadn't been done before your arrival date . Its the end of the season & you were my last guest until the new high season begins Dec.1st. The items you mentioned are already being addressed and there will be new utensils for the kitchen by then. My apologies for the stains on the toilet seat, the cleaning lady had used harsh cleaning chemicals on the plastic seat that she should not have used and it left it with a stain. I will be getting a new toilet seat this weekend when I'am in San Jose. I very much appreciate your input that needs to be addressed to keep my guest happy and comfortable in the bungalow.
Thanks again for being my guest at Slice Of Paradise, I enjoyed your company and visiting with you & Rob & especially going on our trip together to Cano island on your tour. I think you also had a wonderful white water rafting experience with my guest in my other bungalow. I hope to see you back again one day. I think what you meant to type on your last comment is, "Ron" not Rob, "Definitely wants his guest to be happy during their stay and this WAS much appreciated". You are so right about that.
As they always say in Costa Rica PURA VIDA.

For Manuel Antonio National Park visitors, the park is an easy 25 min. drive to the north from your bungalow to all the attractions and there are many 5 star restaurants as well as tipical Costa Rician dining and gift shops. Matapalo has one of finest Sea Food Restaurants in the entire area called The Happy Lobster, also Guva Lodge is within walking distance, just down the beach & around the corner from your bungalow and is a favorite local dining spot of our guest. Dominical is located less than 15 min. south of Matapalo and is a favorite for souvenir shopping, surfing, and dining for a taste of tipical tico cruisine, there also is an excellent Thai restaurant in Dominical.
