My wife Dawn and I started coming to Grand Cayman in 2000 to SCUBA dive with our 2 children. We fell in love with the gentle people, perfect climate, and beautiful unspoiled sea. We finally purchased a piece of this paradise in 2010. It is a dream come true. Our cottage is one of 16 that were built as a dive resort in the 1960s on what was the very remote north shore. It has miraculously survived all the developers and is continuously preserved and improved by the very passionate individual owners. There is nothing like it left on Grand Cayman. We love to share it with our guests and receive lots of very positive reviews. We are blessed to have a local Caymanian couple, Miss Barbara and her husband Linsford care for our cottage and guests. They are like family to us! Contact us anytime. We love to discuss this very special place with anyone interested!
Brian or Dawn Steeland purchased this condo in 2010
I wanted to find just the right words to describe the essence of your charming cottage.
You were an absolute joy to work with in coordinating the dates for my trip. You made everything easy and seemless.
It is evident that you and your wife place a lot of pride and love in the Sea Lodge with all the upgrades and decorative touches throughout the cottage. It is truly a labor of love and appreciation for the Cayman's culture. Mr. Linsford speaks very highly of you as well. He asked if I knew you and I told him that I felt like I did (although) we have never met in person -- only by email.
My absolute favorite part of the house is the seaside lanai- I spent every waking moment on the lanai enjoying the landscape. I love how all the doors open up to the lanai and expands the cottage space two fold, and I loved the welcoming white rocking chairs on the courtyard side-- very nice touch.
During this trip, I visited the Botanical Gardens ( quite a treat) and the Crystal Caves (newest attraction on the northside), in addition to Stingray City. The caves are something everyone must see and explore. The guided tour is very well done. There are currently three caves open and one more to come online this summer. You may want to add the Crystal Caves to your "Things To Do List".
Between Kirk's Corner and Over the Edge I was well nourished with great local foods. I was able to meet one of the cooks at Kirk's Corner- Ms. Bloosom.
The entire week was nourishment for the soul, spirit, mind and body.
Thanks again for your kindness!
Brian was helpful from the get go, and Miss Barbara was wonderful, very helpful, and friendly. We had all the information we needed and recommendations for restaurants and tours.
The drive from the airport took under an hour but was a nice drive, giving you the opportunity to see a lot of the island.
The cottage was easy to find. It was clean, comfortable, well kept, and very well equipped. There was a movie and book library that was well stocked.
We found condiments in the fridge and spices in the cupboard. The breeze coming through the plantation shutters throughout the day was wonderful, and it brought the sound of the ocean with it. We could watch the sunrise from the bed, and eat breakfast watching the waves. The beach was just steps away and it was incredibly quiet. We saw maybe 5 people over our week stay. It was a little rough to snorkel in the shallow waters here and I was uncomfortable to go any deeper but the water was a great temperature. We walked to Rum point via the beach and back via the road. Easy both ways. Rum point is where we spent most of our time. The wreck bar was a great place for lunch. The Treasure chest was the only shop we visited, and Red Sail tours was the best.
I would highly recommend Sea Lodge cottage and I hope the next visitor enjoys it as much as we did.
Thank you Brian.
I am just back from a wonderful six nights and seven days at this charming sea lodge. I am blessed to have found this remarkable property to celebrate my milestone birthday.
If you're looking to unplug, sit still and reconnect with what really matters away from all the clutter distrations and stress of the world--- Unit #14 is your special place. Unit #14 offers everything you want and more.
From the minute you open the doors and the plantation shutters to the incredible views of the caribbean sea, feel the warm sea breeze on your face and explore the rhythm of the island, smell the salt air and admire the palm trees, you immediately relax and unwind and know you have arrived to a special place on earth. You literally step back in time to simpler way of living and a simpler lifestyle.
My week at Cayman Kai was like heaven on earth. The property is excellent. You won't find a better value for your buck. You have your own private and secluded beachfront property. The sunrises are amazing and the sunsets are too. I felt right at HOME from day one and immediately started planning my next visit to the Island. This is a special place. It is private, secure, safe and sacred.
This unit is beautifully decorated - lots of great touches and attention to detail. The property managers Miss Barbara and Mr. Linsford are incredible kind people and will make you feel right at home.
I will return soon and when I do I will stay at Unit #14. Thank you for a beautiful week.
perfect spot to rest and unwind. The unit had everything we needed, the grounds were in great shape. It's a quick walk to the beach/ocean with great snorkeling. This place has a great vibe that you don't want to miss, it's a rare find in these days of high end resorts and the crowds that come along with them. Go and enjoy!
My husband and I had Such a wonderful stay at the sea lodges, we were in unit 14. Our neighbors have been coming here 20+ years and we can see why. The property has all of the basics that we need: comfortable beds, full kitchen, and steps away from the beach. Just like the other reviews state The water is perfect for snorkeling. There are 2 good entry points to start snorkeling that our neighbors showed us and also to exit where the 2 white houses are closer to rum point beach. We were able to celebrate our 5th anniversary and hope to keep coming back like our Sea lodge neighbors! Thanks again to sea lodges owner and guests for making for a memorable getaway.
Can't say enough good things about our experience. The cottage was clean and very comfortable and had just about everything you could hope for and more in terms of the kitchen. We loved having an outdoor shower and clothesline, and we did not miss having an air conditioner because there were so many fans. No bugs! Went snorkeling 2 or 3 times a day right in front of the cottages and sat on the beach and maybe saw 3 or 4 people a day, unless we ventured to Rum Point beach club, Kaibo (downstairs beach restaurant; we never tried the fancier upstairs), or Over the Edge-- all wonderful restaurants nearby. We never did 7 Mile Beach at all-- hotels, nightlife, fancy dining and shopping were not what we were looking for. We just wanted peace, quiet, and perfect snorkeling, and that's what we got! Brian was very easy to get in touch with, and the whole process was simple and efficient. Huge thanks for a perfect vacation!
We decided to go to Cayman last minute and booked this wonderful cottage a few days before arrival. It was clean, well appointed for our needs and right next to the beach. We hope to stay here agin for our next cayman trip.
Located on the north side of Grand Cayman Island -- far from the crowds -- in the peaceful residential area of Cayman Kai amidst beautiful large homes on either side at a distance, we are near Rum Point (1/4 mile walk down the beach) with its beach bar, daily BBQ lunch specials, hammocks on the beach, music, hair braiding, a resident parrot, picnic tables, swimming and gift shop...and this is for after you tire of being on our large perfect private white sand beach outside your back door.
