WOW! Great house!

  • 5 of 5

This house far exceeded my expectations. We had a group of friends and kids (16 in all) who all want to get together for a sort of reunion. The house was large and roomy with lots of light. The pool table and movie theater (big comfy chairs and giant screen) were great when it was raining or for helping to entertain the kids (and even us adults after the kids were in bed). There were plenty of rooms with comfortable king size beds for the adults (no one had to fight over a room or bed!) and the bunk beds were great for the kids.

WiFi was a great welcomed feature. Something you wouldn't expect. The extra large dining table was awesome as we had many fun filled meals altogether at one table!

Everything was very clean and felt like a real home. I can't wait to rent this place again in the winter and have fires going when coming back from skiing. Only down side will be BBQing in the cold, but hey I'm not the one out there lol.

I don't understand the one review where they were disappointed. I didn't experience any of those issues at all. The owner was very accommodating with all my questions and emails. He was very efficient with sending the directions and "check-in" information as well as giving us tidbits on things to do up there.

Thank you for a wonderful place to stay!

Great for large families

  • 4 of 5

It was a very busy time for us we were there for my daughters wedding. We rented 2 of his homes, a nice walk from each other. Were able to gather all together at one of the homes one night for a cookout and chance to visit. plenty of room between the large deck and house. Only real negative was grills could use a little updating, but, other than that all was good! Appreciate Mr. Coombe renting his homes. They worked great for another Chapter of life memories for my family.

Poor Communication and Charges!

  • 2 of 5

This house is large and the pictures represent it well. We had a great stay except dealing with the owner, Michael! It was very hard to communicate with him. With only a couple weeks to go he sends us a new lease saying we have to pay taxes and he gave some story about just realizing that he hasn;t collected for the few years. Then he charged us almost 75$ for using paypal because he said he needed the money (for the taxes) by the due date.

ALSO there are no linens! This was not mentioned on the lease, it actually said "Linens Included" - imagine the scene when 28 people show up without linens and try to get in to bed! Michael finally after calling and calling brought sheets after midnight.

A great place but bad experience with the owner. We are seasoned Poconos renters. This is the first bad experience we had.

Owner's Response: We Try had to be perfect. We do our best and feel we offer great service and product. We do 150 rentals a year. This past winter the state threw the pocono rental world a screw ball. His 1st lease 11/2015 was w/out tax. In 02/2016, PA informed us they were looking to collect 6% sales tax on rental homes based on an old tax law they were now enforcing.NEWS TO EVERYBODY! AND THEY WERE LOOKING FOR THE PAST 5 YEARS to be paid. I have been contracted with agencies like Century 21 and Remax to handle rentals for over 10 years. They never charged a tax or heard of it, My accountant either. I believe that the state is reinterpreting an existing hotel tax law to gain some cash flow. They were not "GIVEN A STORY" as the guest suggest in his review. My guests that had already booked and paid in full were given the COPY OF THE LETTER FROM THE STATE and the OPTION of paying their tax burden but being that they had a FULLY EXECUTED AND PAID FOR LEASE we wouldn't expect them to. . Well 75% of the folks did indeed send the tax money to us! Evan had already received and paid the first portion of his lease. They understood the tax and were happy to pay it. They had told me that they had already mailed the final payment in though. I suggested PayPal credit card for the JUST THE TAX and said i would waive the Paypal fee. However when the payment came thru it was for the full remaining balance owed $2750.00 plus the tax. Which made the PayPal fee $74.19 vs the $5.40 it would have been on the tax alone. The HOMEWAY LISTING states that there is a fee to use CCPayPal. We both had different expectations on the charge. I was willing to waive charge for tax payment only, . After so many emails I had to discontinue communication. It also seems that when i was added tax to the second lease I sent an old version of the lease stating we provided linens. which the original lease did not. I Was told at 9:49 pm that they had no sheets. i was able to get the rental company there there in 2 hrs. I know 75 is not worth a bad review. And in hindsight should have just paid by me but then every .01. Counts. The state is asking me to pay a lot of money in back sales tax

great house for large group

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect for our group of 26. We had plenty of room for every one. The men enjoyed football on the big screen and the dining table was perfect for dinner and playing gAmes. The ski slopes and outlets were close by too. Most of the beds were comfortable and the place was clean. We had a great weekend, and hope to return soon.

Great for a large group!!

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I loved staying in this house - - - TWICE!

We had SO much fun when we were in our early twenties (young professionals, not students) over the New Years Eve '10, that we had a 5 year reunion this past weekend!

1st time around we were mostly singles, all friends form college/HS looking to hang out and have a good time. 2nd time, we were mostly couples, but still looking to hang out and have a good time. The house somehow fit our different needs perfectly both times! Everyone had a bed in a situation that suited them.

The best feature of the house in my opinion is the amazingly long dinning room table. It feels great to sit around and enjoy a meal with 24 of your best friends (or family I would assume!). However the hot tub and projector screening room are both nice perks too. In the 3 full days we were there, we went skiing/snowboarding at Jack Frost, snow tubing at Big Boulder, and spent a day watching movies on the big screen in the basement.

Michael was very accommodating in all aspects but especially in helping work out the details of parking logistics, bedding, and arriving at the property. He was very through, sending information about packing/shopping lists, directions, things-to-do nearby, etc.

Highly recommended for a big group!

Great Place!

  • 5 of 5

We needed a place that would not only sleep 6 couples but also one that had a table large enough for us to all eat together.... This place was great! We each had a bedroom with a King size bed (linens included). The dining table was amazing - we sat 12 comfortably and their was plenty of room if there had been more. The place is very clean and it was also great having 2 refrigerators. Most of the time we would keep some things out on a deck to keep them cold but because it was so cold that weekend even our water bottles would have frozen up over night. We really enjoyed the large screen TV for the comedy we brought with us. We had a problem with lighting the gas fireplace but Michael had someone there to help us within the hour (pretty much was just "operator error" anyway) I recommend it highly and plan on going back next year..
