My wife and I booked this home for five of us to stay over Thanksgiving. We were attracted by the location, the layout and the updated features. When we arrived late on Tuesday night, we were struck by the fact that the temperature was 56 degrees. We set the thermostat and went to sleep. When we woke, the temperature had actually fallen. We immediately phoned Lilian. She could not have been more friendly, apologetic and eager to help ...despite being out of town. She arranged to have some workmen come by at 5:00 pm to fix the problem. They succeeded. However, within two hours of their departure, the heat was off again and the temperature began to drop. We reached out again to Lilian who was clearly upset about our experience. She suggested that we dismantle the thermostat; we were not comfortable attempting this. At this point, we made the decision to spend our remaining two nights at a hotel. We had working heat for 2 of the 34 hours we spent at the house. We requested a refund for our two lost nights but received a refund for only one.
We work extremely hard and put forth every effort to make this experience as delightful and comfortable in our means. We were not notified about the heat till the next morning, after the guests had spent their first night. At that time I spent a couple of hours on the phone eagerly attempting to bring in an HVAC technician the day before thanksgiving . I was able to locate about three options and (come on, that's almost impossible). We asked our guests when would be a good time to let them in since I was out of town myself for my uncles funeral. They expressed that 5:00 p.m. would work for them. As the day went on I consistently attempted to bring in our preferred technician that had access to the property. The technicians arrived at 4:00 p.m. and resolved the issue prior to the guests arriving at 5:00. It's unfortunate that the guests will only provide you with their version and not the reality. They were probably cold for two hours because they spent the remainder of their trip with family near by and touring the city as well as museums. Upon my arrival after the guests had departed, the heat was working properly and I'm not sure what the issue was. Although we wanted them to trouble shoot with us and simply remove the face of the thermostat, (not dismantle), it was only to see if it needed a new battery. It was such a fluke thing and I'm terribly disappointed that our review was given a 1 star. We did refund 50% but they wanted a full refund. How do we refund 100% when the heat was working upon our arrival. It simply wasn't fair.

A very positive experience. The property is conveniently located and tastefully decorated. Everything was comfortable and clean. We had an issue with the heat in the property and Lilian was incredibly responsive and compassionate. If we ever travel to the area again, this is top of the list! Thanks!
The apartment was beautiful and spacious. Very easy to get access and it had everything we needed. Very conveniently located to downtown Evanston and Northwestern University. We will definitely stay here again. Thanks.

We were looking for a location near Loyola University with access to the city. The Clark was everything we hoped it would be and more. It is an absolutely beautifully restored property with private parking and the host was wonderfully welcoming and accommodating with even the slightest requests. The location has multiple options for access to the city with the red line nearby and plenty of dining options within a few minutes drive. Would stay again without hesitation.
Kirk and his family were lovely. Kind,respectful and went along with the house rules. We would love to have them back anytime and highly recommend them stay with any host that appreciates good people.
