About Dawn Marks
We are the Marks Family! After years of looking for a family lake home in the Northwoods, we found Mercer to be the perfect place for family fun, relaxing, fishing, 4 wheeling and snowmobiling. We are close to modern amenities such as a grocery store, a library and great bars and restaurants. Yet, we are secluded in pines on the edge of town. After 10 years of enjoying our lake home, we had the opportunity to purchase our neighbor’s property (Stonewall Hideaway) for our family, friends, and guests to enjoy too. We became grandparents this last year and are fortunate to split our time between Mercer and the Madison area. We hope that you enjoy “The Cabins at Stonewall Hideaway” as much as we do!

Great place, great location, great amenities! Easy lake access. Loon Fest was a great bonus!!
This was a great place to stay. Was just as they advertised. There was plenty of room for my family and was great we could include our dog on the trip. The renter was a pleasure to work with and I would definitely recommend this place to friends. I will definitely try this cabin again on my next trip.
Thank you Andy! We hope to see you again! Mitch and Dawn Marks.

Cozy and comfortable.
The cabin had everything we needed. Bed were comfortable. We appreciated it being dog friendly. We liked the gas stove. The area outside was a little cramped with other homes nearby but being it was winter we weren't outside that much. We did take our dog out to run on the frozen lake.
Wonderful and cozy with a park like back yard.
It was just two of us, with our two dogs. The cabin was perfect for us. Cozy enough that we didn’t feel too small for the place, yet roomy enough for us and our dogs. The back yard was like a park and our dogs were allowed off leash! We had a little campfire every night that we were there. It was private and quiet, we loved it.
A Wonderful Return to Mercer
As a child my family vacationed in the Mercer area and my bride and I honeymooned in the area. So for our 45th wedding anniversary my wife and I decided to revisit Mercer. This cabin turned out to be the perfect spot. Owners Mitch and Dawn were very welcoming (Thank you!). The cabin is clean and well appointed. Its location on Grand Portage Lake was great for paddling and swimming. The cabin comes with an assortment of watercraft. The cabin is only 1.4 miles from downtown Mercer and an easy bike ride into town. A big public park is only 1/2 mile away. Mercer has a new bike trail to the southwest, which is a fine amenity for the area. While not having an ATV, there is an extensive network of ATV trails throughout Iron County, one of which is just across the road from the cabin. The cabin is an excellent base for exploring the area, all the way up to Lake Superior (Little Girl's Point). For tech oriented folks cell reception is good and the cabin WiFi was fast enough to stream Netflix. However, we recommend you put your devices away, sit out on the dock (or cabin deck), listen to the loons and enjoy a sunset. We had a very enjoyable anniversary getaway and the cabin was everything we hoped it would be.
