The apartment location was in a nice neighborhood close to public transportation, grocery and shopping. The check in process was a bit of a hassle, and I had to initiate and inquire several times. The information was given last minute. I hadn't had that experience with other VRBO rentals. The apartment hadn't been cleaned before my arrival, and it appeared a thorough cleaning hadn't been done in some time. There was leftover coffee in the carafe, appliances needed a good wipe down, mildew on the shower curtain (which I cleaned myself), dirty toilet and floors. I am disappointed this didn't work out since it was so close to where a family member lives, but I won't be back.
Your review really leaves out the mess you left behind. Are you leaving a negative review for us because you were such a slob? We did not appreciate the bottle in the freezer that exploded or the questionable white stains all over the furniture. You gave us the wrong phone number which caused you to not be connected to the smart lock...that should not be blamed on us. You are not welcome back because we respect our space and how you left it, it looked like you were hanging from the rafters. Buh bye Jane!
First CHI Town Experience
Location was good, plenty to do around apartment. Shopping, eating, and anything you need is within walking distance. We arrived late, 10:00pm and owner had not forwarded the code for front entrance. I had to reach out and prompt the initial check in process. The fans in master bedroom was broke. The Fan in living area only worked on low setting. The futon does not sleep an adult. It is not long enough, it is only 5’ long. There were no directions for WiFi once we arrived. Shower has a tall shower head with good water pressure. There is no shelving in the bathroom, so be careful when placing things on back of stool. No place to set hair/make-up accessories. Parking is free, but extremely limited and fills fast on street. We had to park several blocks away. Best bet is to buy a train pass/ticket and leave car parked. It was a 30 minute walk to Wrigley Field. Only reason for the 3 star review is over all cleanliness. Refrigerator, and microwave hadn’t been wiped out. TV stand hasn’t been dusted in quite some time. As me moved sofa and things around it appeared to not have been swept under things recently. Once I complained about the fan, the owner stopped communicating with me. Overall we had a good time in CHI Town!
The best of Chicago at your fingertips!
Great stay! Location couldn't be better. Short walk to Montrose Beach. Don't miss the skyline views at the bird sanctuary! Just be sure to download and set up the August door unlocking app in advance.
Unfortunately the only thing that was good about this place was the location. And maybe clean sheets.
First we were supposed to have gotten into the unit at 2, which was what the website said check in time was. But we had to wait till 4. And it was dirty. The bath shower curtain was moldy and the shower itself didn’t look like anyone cleaned it. Floors were ok but they didn’t clean under furniture as we found food scraps. Kitchen counter wasn’t wiped clean.
I know we payed for someone to clean the place so hopefully the next cleaner didn’t do minimal work.
Also they held my deposit.
I made the mistake not contacting the manager about the place after we arrived. Things may have been ended better.
The apartment was everything that the ad had promised it to be. We had booked the apartment 3 months ahead of time and the check in time was to be 2pm. The night before we still had not received any arrival instructions, I had to call the manager and she I normally send those out 48 hours prior, told her we were scheduled for the next day. She did send them immediately. the problem was that I wasn't able to download the app for the door locks on my phone. Luckily I was able to on my husbands phone. And the check in time had changed from 2pm to 4pm. Caused threw our schedule off. The water temperature never got above lukewarm, since we weren't able to spend much time there on check in this wasn't discovered until late that night.
Overall the apartment was nice, but I wouldn't stay here again.
Early May stay
This is a convenient spot if you have family or business in the area. There is an Aldi and Target within walking distance and a nice deli 2 blocks away. Tara is a very helpful manager. Parking is free on the street, but can be difficult to find. If Kenmore St is full, look on Montrose, a couple blocks away.
