Vintage Shore Cottage

  • 5 of 5

The Petite Retreat is a vintage shore house that takes visitors to a place of relaxation and great views. The garden yard and decking around the house provide a cozy and warm atomsphere and not to mention a great place to read or sunbath. The ocean view can be enjoyed from the deck and is especially nice in the evening when the sun is going down. The inside accomdations are reminiscent of beach houses along the northeast coast. The quaintness of the cottage still allows for modern conveniences, like the big screen T.V. our two teenagers enjoyed viewing. The cottage is in walking distance of the Dana Harbor were we enjoyed shopping and drinks. San Juan Capistrano is about a 5 minute drive and the town is still one of our favorites. Also, Anaheim and San Diego are not too far away and the cottage is a great home base to explore south orange county. We will never stay at a hotel again in Dana Point(Orange County), at Petite Retreat we felt like a guests in home at the shore.

Old Beach California meets modern comfort

  • 5 of 5

Dana has not missed one modern convenience needed in your stay at her vintage cottage. Great home base for those who are sightseeing or just want some peaceful downtime on the deck surrounded by beautiful gardens and amazing views! We were there to visit our military children and our new granddaughter over Easter and with a full kitchen I was able to host our in-laws and even bake beautiful cakes! Make a quick stop at the store and you will not need to leave once you get there if you don't want to but we suggest dinner or brunch at the Dana Point Harbor and a visit to the Pacific Marine Mammal Center and all their great work! A few things to note, yes there are about twenty steps to climb but so worth it and parking after 8:00pm might have you a block away as the street fills up fast. We learned to be in early! This is our home away from home now when we visit Laguna! Thanks Dana! Hope to see you again soon! John & Cathy Penney Meridian MS

Best spot in Dana Point

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at the petite retreat while in town for his younger sisters wedding. The rest of the family stayed at hotels in town but we wanted more privacy and a place that was dog friendly. Every one was jealous of our accomodations when they saw how great of a place this is. Its just the right size for a couple, the yard and outdoor space is amazing and the view was perfect for my morning coffee. We were more than thrilled with our stay and we hope to stay here again in the future. Thank you for providing a clean and we'll maintained cottage and thank you for being pet friendly!

Please note, there are quite a few stairs to get to the front door, if you have trouble with stairs or have small children, be prepared. But it's well worth the climb ;-)

Beautiful, relaxing, great vacation spot!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful five-night stay at the Dana Point Petite Retreat! We came with our eight-year-old daughter, and the house was perfect for us. The views are so beautiful from the property, the deck is amazing, the kitchen has everything we needed, and we just loved being there. We felt so cozy and comfortable coming back to the house after a day out and about, cooking dinner, relaxing on the deck and taking in the view of the coastline and the night sky. The garden is so pretty too, and we saw lots of hummingbirds and other birds around, which added to the relaxing, natural feeling. The location is great, a ten-minute walk to the harbor, and a short drive to other beautiful locations (Laguna Beach, San Clemente, where we biked along the water, El Morro Canyon, where we did a beautiful hike). Thank you, Dana, for a great vacation!

Home Suite Home

This one bedroom cottage has it all! Seriously everything you can need. beach umbrellas, mats, chairs, boogie board (we brought our own but she has one), towels, kitchen and bathroom supplies, extra bedding, etc.. The outside deck is an additional suite, it's so large and lovely for every meal. You can't beat the view. walking distance to many places. This was perfect size for myself, husband and 2 small children. As previous DP residents we come back often, we hope it's available again for us. Thank you Dana for making us feel at home.

Our stay at Dana Point Petite Retreat

  • 4 of 5

Very cute cottage. Kept very clean. LOVED THE VIEW!!! It had everything we needed with the following exceptions: there weren't any umbrellas to fit the umbrella stands on the deck so that limited our use of the deck at times... I also thought I read that there where beach chairs available to use but we couldn't find them. The one suggestion We would have would be to have some kind of blinds for the windows in the living room because that room acts as a bedroom and is way to bright in the morning for someone sleeping on the pullout coach. All in all our stay was very enjoyable and we absolutely fell in love with Dana Point!
