About Geraldine Hynes
The property has been in the family since 1730!! & Passed down through generations. We have a large family, so Wellpark is very family friendly and consequently very well equipped to cater for large groups. We all look forward to our annual get together to enjoy the comfort of Wellpark and our various Favourite Trips, the superb countryside, and include delightful Irish Pubs and delicious fresh food in our favourite Restaurants. We are happy to share this information with all our guests. Welcome to Wellpark and Ireland.
Geraldine Hynes purchased this Chateau / Country House in 1730
Why Geraldine Hynes chose Oughterard
Wellpark is unique. Built in another age it is oth elegant and comfortable. It will cater for 12 guests comfortably. The dining room can be used for table games or for your wi-fi connection. The sitting room has digital TV with plenty of popular channels and will accommodate more guests. The sun room is a favourite for tea in the garden. There is a place for everyone and the garden is spectacular.
What makes this Chateau / Country House unique
Wellpark lies in an acre of mature, well kept gardens with a separate fuchsia hedged garden for barbecues. The large barbecue is hand built in local stone and there is table and seating for all. Try the locally produced lamb chops from Finnerty's, the butcher and their super sausages. Finish off with apple pie & irish Cream, made with apples from the garden!

Perfect Irish country estate
We had a superb stay at Wellpark House. The home is charming and historic, with beautiful grounds. It's a short easy walk into Oughterard, which has everything most people will need--multiple nice pubs and restaurants, a decent grocery store, a good butcher, several other nice little shops, and Catholic and Anglican churches. Mary, the caretaker for the house, is extremely friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again!
Country House in Oughterard
Our family of 8 adults had a great stay in this house in Oughterard. The house was as advertised and the caretaker Mary was very helpful. The large sunroom and kitchen were our favorite hangouts!
Easy 15 minute walk into town and a good base for exploring Connemara and the Burren.
Lovely old world house , 6 bedrooms, log/turf burners.
Not ruined by being 'modernised' to death. Fab large garden, 10 mins walk into the small town. VV good!
Delightful old house full of charm and character yet with all modern comforts
We were a large family group of parents young adults and children- 11 in all. The house was a comfortable fit for us and we all loved it. Very convenient too, being on the edge of the bustling village of Oughterard which we thoroughly enjoyed exploring. I particularly loved Loch Corrib- stunning scenery and wonderful wild swimming. We toured around quite a bit - loved Roundstone and the magnificent Dogs Bay Beach. Not so impressed by Ashford Castle - disappointing not to be allowed inside the castle itself and although the grounds are attractive, at €10 a head, they are quite expensive. However all in all we had a fantastic time. Mary couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. We would love to return!
Thank you for your taking the time to give a revue!
Glad you enjoyed Wellpark and Connemara as much as we do.
The swimming must have been cold! But maybe you don a "wild wetsuit"?
Mary said you were all a " nice group".
Looking forward to welcoming you all again!
Happy Easter, Geraldine
Great house. Large kitchen table for everyone to sit at. short walk into Oughterard.
We had a brilliant family reunion in Wellpark House which has great charm and plenty of space. The garden area is lovely, the conservatory and sitting room are comfy and very pleasant, and most importantly, the kitchen table fitted all of us and other family members comfortably. Oughterard was very close and easy to pop in and out of on foot - less than 10 mins. Good restaurants and lovely food shop, O'Sullivans in the town. Plenty of places to see and nice walks nearby. Many thanks for everything.
Thankyou Joan for taking the time to write this nice review!
Mary, our caretaker wrote that you were all a "lovely group"!
I trust her judgement.
Glad you had a good family reunion.
We also have a large extended family and Wellpark has been furnished and organised with this in mind! Kind regards, Geraldine
Property is beautiful. House has issues because of its age.
Great place for a family stay, but we were four couples and the bathroom situation was not ideal. Kitchen was a great gathering place as well as the sun room. The fire in the fireplace was great to welcome us. Oughterard was a 5 minute walk which was great as we had no vehicle.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review of Wellpark..
Pleased you enjoyed your stay in Wellpark and Oughterard.
Another bathroom is due to be added for next season.
