Charming Cottage by the Sea

  • 5 of 5

This cottage provided the perfect setting for my 50th birthday celebration with my sisters. Early mornings were spent watching the lobsterman float out to his boat for a hard day's work, combing the beach at low tide for sea glass or watching the seagulls grab the lobster shells, from dinner the night before, that we'd tossed on the rocky beach. During the day, we drove to many different locations to visit seaside fishing villages or Schoodic Point. Evenings were spent dining on the deck with a lobster dinner from a local lobster pound (Tracey's Seafood) or enjoying a meal at a wonderful restaurant - our favorite was Crocker House Country Inn which is literally around the corner from the cottage. While we felt we were miles away from civilization, we also had modern conveniences such as cable and Internet service. The owner and caretaker are both extremely concerning about making our stay comfortable. I would HIGHLY recommend this cottage! Next time, I'll be bringing my husband, kids, dog and a kayak! Enjoy!

Beautiful, peaceful, and private

  • 5 of 5

My family (myself, my husband and our three sons) stayed for a week at the cottage and we were delighted. The cottage felt like home to us with three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a fully stocked kitchen. It was clean, and lovely. We enjoyed waking up to the sunrise over the bay and seeing the gulls and birds in the morning. My boys had the best time exploring the beach, catching crabs, finding shells and enjoying nature. The location was perfect for us - we spent most days this way: boys played on deck and beach while we made breakfast, and packed a picnic lunch. Then we would head out for day trips to Bar Harbor, Whale Watching, Acadia National Park, hiking at various nature preserves or going to Lamoine State Park. Dinner out most nights, (in Bar Harbor or Ellsworth) although we did enjoy cooking a lobster dinner in the well equipped kitchen. Babe, the lobsterman who works on the beach, caught our lobster for us one morning and left them in our cooler right on the deck and we cooked up them up that night. Our evenings at the cottage were wonderful - we could put the boys to bed and enjoy a glass of wine on the deck overlooking the bay or at the firepit in the yard. Having the washer and dryer (with laundry soap and dryer sheets no less!) was a big help with three little boys who LOVE to get dirty! Simply perfect vacation for us and Judy was a wonderfully responsive hostess. We will be back! Thank you Judy!

Owner's Response: Oh, I'm so glad you're coming back....They were wonderful appreciative guests too. I really appreciate this wonderful review....I do try very hard to make the cottage as clean as a whistle and keep everything in excellent shape, and ready to go.....and my cleaning team is wonderful. I've had the cottage for about 11 years and its always a leaning experience...but it looks like I'm getting there.... I'm thrilled to be able to share my wonderful cottage with such appreciative people........

Another memorable week!

  • 5 of 5

We just spent another wonderful week looking over Jellerson Cove on the Mt. Desert Narrows, in Hancock, Maine. We have stayed here for the last several years and have always found our time here to be most enjoyable, peaceful, and quiet. This cottage is in a very beautiful location, with its large deck overlooking the water. Sunrises are beautiful, as are the sunsets. The impressive tidal changes, the ever changing landscape Is always captivating. The shore allows for long walks which provide impressive views of Acadia and the surrounding area. Speaking of which, the cottage’s location allows excellent access to Acadia, and many wonderful hikes along the ocean both north and south.

The cottage is very well maintained and always spotless when we arrive. The kitchen is well stocked with pans and serving ware. Two very well stocked, full bathrooms, and plenty of sleeping space.

The owner, Judy, has been most helpful – responds quickly to questions and the very rare concern. She is very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable of the area. She is always just a phone call away.

Thank you Judy for another memorable week on the ocean!

Quiet, Comfortable, with Spectacular Views

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay, from the moment we pulled in with the beautiful views and aroma of roses and sea air. The house itself was so comfortable with all the modern conveniences yet so peaceful. The views from inside were great with the waterfront side of the house being almost all windows and the deck just topped it off. It was better than we could have imagined, the pictures didn't do it justice.

Beautiful vacation on Frenchman's Bay

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 4, 2 adults and kids 7 & 12 yrs old just left this beautiful cottage for our vacation in late June. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The cottage is beautiful, sitting directly on Frenchman's Bay with a wonderful breeze bringing the scent of flowers right onto the large wrap-around deck. The weather for us was perfect with cool nights and breezy days with just enough warmth. Our kids really enjoyed wading & exploring in the bay, climbing the rocks and watering the many flowers and strawberry plants. They each got to try a few strawberries that became ripe while there! We arrived late at night but were able to have a nice visit with the owner, Judy the next day. The booking was easy since Judy responds super-quickly! The location in Hancock is ideal with only a 30-40 minute beautiful drive to Acadia National Park, Schoodic Point, Southwest Harbor, Northeast Harbor, Echo Lake, Thuya Gardens, Asticou Gardens, BarHarbor and a ferry ride to Cranberry Island. Thank you Judy for sharing your beautiful, well-stocked cottage with us - we really had a wonderful, relaxing time!

A Great place

  • 5 of 5

We just got back from a week at this lovely cottage. What a lovely place! The new deck is beautiful. You're so close to the water, you can see to the bottom.

Coffee every morning watching the sun come up....Breakfast as we watch the tide either come in or out....Hiking at Acadia, or shopping at Rooster Brothers (fabulous cookware store). Lobsters later from Babe the local lobsterman who's boat is anchored off the beach....

Rebecca, the cleaning girl, did a fabulous job with cleanliness, and the beautiful new washer dryer in the basement was wonderful to use.

The beds were excellent. The newly upolstered furniture provided a nice charm, and warm and cozy at night, and lots of windows during the day....what a view......

The owner Judy was there to greet us and very available when we called her with a question during the week.

We highly recommend this to both couples and families...

PS

Oh, I almost forgot the wonderful boat ride with Babe....very, very, interesting to be out for a few hours with a real lobsterman....A nice tip took care of the $
