Th cottage was all we hoped for. Clean, cozy, comfortable, with all the modern day conveniences.

Sunrises, birds, ocean views from every window, kayaking, lobster dinners, cool evenings, star gazing - all without ever having to leave the property.

We rode our bikes every morning to the point. You can take the 10 mile route or the 6. We took a horse riding lesson at Double L's and had a lovely dinner at Crocker House Inn, both just 4 minutes away.

We drove to Schoodic Peninsula, at Acadia, and had a picnic on the rocks. Lobster rolls left over from the lobster dinner the night before. Which by the way were caught that day and delivered to our door by the lobstermen who dock their boat in Jellison Cove!! I'm not kidding!

We drove 20 minutes to Elsworth center, had a great lunch at Finns and I bought a great necklace made by a local artist at a jewelry store in the center.

We can not imagine how this vacation could have been better. Thank you Judy, for sharing your piece of paradise with us.

The cottage is excellent for those seeking a quiet (except for a flock of raucous crows) retreat from everything. The views are wonderful and this cottage is perfect as a stepping stone to both the Bar Harbor Area of Acadia National Park but also the Schoodic Peninsula area. If you like lobster, buy one right off Babe's boat, docked right in the bay--an amazing experience. Beds are very comfortable but furniture in living room should be replaced, as well as the floors of the kitchen and bathroom. Other than that, enjoy the brand new barbecue grill, the seats and table on the deck and the beautiful flowers. Have fun.

Absolutely beautiful

  • 5 of 5

The property is very well maintained. The gardens are beautiful. The ocean views are breathtaking. The owner of the property is kind and genuinely concerned about the experience that each person has. If ever an issue, she has someone out there the following day to remedy this. The house is very well stocked with all the day to day necessities. We only had to buy food for the week. The beds were comfortable and all the televisions appeared brand new. The decor was perfect and satisfied our need for the oceanic experience inside as well. I would highly recommend staying at the cottage

Judy was a pleasure to work with from the booking process to our last day at her home. She met us at the house on our first day to show us around; offer suggestions on places to visit and restaurants to eat at; tell us about "Babe" the Lobsterman who would deliver lobster to the door whenever we asked; and answer any questions that we might have had. Judy was always available by phone/text, and when we had a slight problem, she bent over backwards to get it resolved; there is also a "handyman" close by to offer assistance if need be.

The "cottage" itself was very cute and compact. There are three bedrooms on the main level; two with queen-sized beds and one with a pull-out. The Master bedroom has sliding glass doors to the wraparound deck; there are also sliding glass doors leading to the deck from the living room, offering great views of the water whether you are in the house or outside. A gas fireplace adds to the ambiance of the cottage. Downstairs are a washer and dryer plus a "studio"...a bed; fireplace; seating area and bath.

Judy's cottage is in a perfect location for sightseeing; it's close to Bar Harbor; Acadia Park and the Schoodic Peninsula...all about a 30-40 minute scenic drive. My friend and I went to all three and highly recommend these attractions!! We took a private tour of Acadia Park with the company "At Your Service"; our driver, Ryan, was so knowledgeable about the history of the park and surrounding areas and customized our tour to whatever we wanted to see; truly unforgettable!!

Another advantage of the cottage's location is its proximity to the town of Ellsworth; here you will find major stores of all kinds (grocery and others). There are also many restaurants to choose from....from fast food to fine dining.

Hancock itself has a number of restaurants and lobster stands to choose from; we personally enjoyed "Chippers"....a short 10 minute drive from the cottage. There is a guestbook in the home with recommendations of restaurants and things to do, written by previous visitors.

I would HIGHLY recommend a stay at Judy's charming cottage, whether you want to fill your days with sightseeing; walking the beach or just relaxing on the deck. Thank you for your hospitality, Judy....we would love to return some day!!

HDBeautiful View

  • 5 of 5

The minute we entered the cottage and looked at the view, we all said WOW!! The cottage was comfortable and really accommodating (4 adults). Judy Perry, who owns the property, welcomed us shortly after we arrived and she is as warm as the cottage. She told us how to order lobster from Babe who anchors his lobster boat in the cove in front of the cottage, suggested restaurants and things to do. We fully enjoyed Ironbound Restaurant and Finns, an Irish bar in Elsworth. Very different menus but both served wonderful food. We cooked lobster from Babes two nights.

We spent several days in Acadia National Park and also went to Corea and Winter Harbor. We loved the "Quiet side" of Acadia - good shopping and not nearly the number a of tourists. Also some good hiking trails along the shore. All in all, it was a wonderful vacation and we will return some day soon.

Peterson/Lindquist from Florida

We would definitely return.

Beautiful, peaceful, and private

  • 5 of 5

My family (myself, my husband and our three sons) stayed for a week at the cottage and we were delighted. The cottage felt like home to us with three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a fully stocked kitchen. It was clean, and lovely. We enjoyed waking up to the sunrise over the bay and seeing the gulls and birds in the morning. My boys had the best time exploring the beach, catching crabs, finding shells and enjoying nature. The location was perfect for us - we spent most days this way: boys played on deck and beach while we made breakfast, and packed a picnic lunch. Then we would head out for day trips to Bar Harbor, Whale Watching, Acadia National Park, hiking at various nature preserves or going to Lamoine State Park. Dinner out most nights, (in Bar Harbor or Ellsworth) although we did enjoy cooking a lobster dinner in the well equipped kitchen. Babe, the lobsterman who works on the beach, caught our lobster for us one morning and left them in our cooler right on the deck and we cooked up them up that night. Our evenings at the cottage were wonderful - we could put the boys to bed and enjoy a glass of wine on the deck overlooking the bay or at the firepit in the yard. Having the washer and dryer (with laundry soap and dryer sheets no less!) was a big help with three little boys who LOVE to get dirty! Simply perfect vacation for us and Judy was a wonderfully responsive hostess. We will be back! Thank you Judy!

Owner's Response: Oh, I'm so glad you're coming back....They were wonderful appreciative guests too. I really appreciate this wonderful review....I do try very hard to make the cottage as clean as a whistle and keep everything in excellent shape, and ready to go.....and my cleaning team is wonderful. I've had the cottage for about 11 years and its always a leaning experience...but it looks like I'm getting there.... I'm thrilled to be able to share my wonderful cottage with such appreciative people........
