Now that we again have our accustomed internet access after returning to Germany, my wife and I want to thank you for allowing us to spend a most WONDERFUL week in your beautiful cottage !!!!!!!!!
EVERYTHING ... absolutely EVERYTHING ... concerning your rental surpassed all our wishful expectations !!!!!!
Although I seriously doubt that you have any shortage of rental requests, ... I will most highly recommend your cottage to our European friends .. but with the sincere hope that we ourselves will again be able to experience those most beautiful sunrises!!
THANK YOU !!
This cottage provided the perfect setting for my 50th birthday celebration with my sisters. Early mornings were spent watching the lobsterman float out to his boat for a hard day's work, combing the beach at low tide for sea glass or watching the seagulls grab the lobster shells, from dinner the night before, that we'd tossed on the rocky beach. During the day, we drove to many different locations to visit seaside fishing villages or Schoodic Point. Evenings were spent dining on the deck with a lobster dinner from a local lobster pound (Tracey's Seafood) or enjoying a meal at a wonderful restaurant - our favorite was Crocker House Country Inn which is literally around the corner from the cottage. While we felt we were miles away from civilization, we also had modern conveniences such as cable and Internet service. The owner and caretaker are both extremely concerning about making our stay comfortable. I would HIGHLY recommend this cottage! Next time, I'll be bringing my husband, kids, dog and a kayak! Enjoy!
Judy was a pleasure to work with from the booking process to our last day at her home. She met us at the house on our first day to show us around; offer suggestions on places to visit and restaurants to eat at; tell us about "Babe" the Lobsterman who would deliver lobster to the door whenever we asked; and answer any questions that we might have had. Judy was always available by phone/text, and when we had a slight problem, she bent over backwards to get it resolved; there is also a "handyman" close by to offer assistance if need be.
The "cottage" itself was very cute and compact. There are three bedrooms on the main level; two with queen-sized beds and one with a pull-out. The Master bedroom has sliding glass doors to the wraparound deck; there are also sliding glass doors leading to the deck from the living room, offering great views of the water whether you are in the house or outside. A gas fireplace adds to the ambiance of the cottage. Downstairs are a washer and dryer plus a "studio"...a bed; fireplace; seating area and bath.
Judy's cottage is in a perfect location for sightseeing; it's close to Bar Harbor; Acadia Park and the Schoodic Peninsula...all about a 30-40 minute scenic drive. My friend and I went to all three and highly recommend these attractions!! We took a private tour of Acadia Park with the company "At Your Service"; our driver, Ryan, was so knowledgeable about the history of the park and surrounding areas and customized our tour to whatever we wanted to see; truly unforgettable!!
Another advantage of the cottage's location is its proximity to the town of Ellsworth; here you will find major stores of all kinds (grocery and others). There are also many restaurants to choose from....from fast food to fine dining.
Hancock itself has a number of restaurants and lobster stands to choose from; we personally enjoyed "Chippers"....a short 10 minute drive from the cottage. There is a guestbook in the home with recommendations of restaurants and things to do, written by previous visitors.
I would HIGHLY recommend a stay at Judy's charming cottage, whether you want to fill your days with sightseeing; walking the beach or just relaxing on the deck. Thank you for your hospitality, Judy....we would love to return some day!!
The minute we entered the cottage and looked at the view, we all said WOW!! The cottage was comfortable and really accommodating (4 adults). Judy Perry, who owns the property, welcomed us shortly after we arrived and she is as warm as the cottage. She told us how to order lobster from Babe who anchors his lobster boat in the cove in front of the cottage, suggested restaurants and things to do. We fully enjoyed Ironbound Restaurant and Finns, an Irish bar in Elsworth. Very different menus but both served wonderful food. We cooked lobster from Babes two nights.
We spent several days in Acadia National Park and also went to Corea and Winter Harbor. We loved the "Quiet side" of Acadia - good shopping and not nearly the number a of tourists. Also some good hiking trails along the shore. All in all, it was a wonderful vacation and we will return some day soon.
Peterson/Lindquist from Florida
We would definitely return.
My family (myself, my husband and our three sons) stayed for a week at the cottage and we were delighted. The cottage felt like home to us with three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a fully stocked kitchen. It was clean, and lovely. We enjoyed waking up to the sunrise over the bay and seeing the gulls and birds in the morning. My boys had the best time exploring the beach, catching crabs, finding shells and enjoying nature. The location was perfect for us - we spent most days this way: boys played on deck and beach while we made breakfast, and packed a picnic lunch. Then we would head out for day trips to Bar Harbor, Whale Watching, Acadia National Park, hiking at various nature preserves or going to Lamoine State Park. Dinner out most nights, (in Bar Harbor or Ellsworth) although we did enjoy cooking a lobster dinner in the well equipped kitchen. Babe, the lobsterman who works on the beach, caught our lobster for us one morning and left them in our cooler right on the deck and we cooked up them up that night. Our evenings at the cottage were wonderful - we could put the boys to bed and enjoy a glass of wine on the deck overlooking the bay or at the firepit in the yard. Having the washer and dryer (with laundry soap and dryer sheets no less!) was a big help with three little boys who LOVE to get dirty! Simply perfect vacation for us and Judy was a wonderfully responsive hostess. We will be back! Thank you Judy!
We just spent another wonderful week looking over Jellerson Cove on the Mt. Desert Narrows, in Hancock, Maine. We have stayed here for the last several years and have always found our time here to be most enjoyable, peaceful, and quiet. This cottage is in a very beautiful location, with its large deck overlooking the water. Sunrises are beautiful, as are the sunsets. The impressive tidal changes, the ever changing landscape Is always captivating. The shore allows for long walks which provide impressive views of Acadia and the surrounding area. Speaking of which, the cottage’s location allows excellent access to Acadia, and many wonderful hikes along the ocean both north and south.
The cottage is very well maintained and always spotless when we arrive. The kitchen is well stocked with pans and serving ware. Two very well stocked, full bathrooms, and plenty of sleeping space.
The owner, Judy, has been most helpful – responds quickly to questions and the very rare concern. She is very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable of the area. She is always just a phone call away.
Thank you Judy for another memorable week on the ocean!
We loved our stay, from the moment we pulled in with the beautiful views and aroma of roses and sea air. The house itself was so comfortable with all the modern conveniences yet so peaceful. The views from inside were great with the waterfront side of the house being almost all windows and the deck just topped it off. It was better than we could have imagined, the pictures didn't do it justice.
The cottage is located on Jellison Cove Road on the water to the right of the marker. The marker is in the wrong place....
Other Activities: sea kyaking lobstering...
