Overview

New York Chalet Rental Photos and Description

3 BR and loft, 2 BA sleeps up to 8

This 1540 sq. foot chalet on 5 acres is nestled in a quiet cove on Autumn lake, just a few miles east of Pulaski, NY. Swim or fish for bass and trout on a private lake or walk across the street and fish for Rainbow and Steelhead trout and Northerns.

Enjoy the use of our kayaks and electric powered boats. White water rafting is nearby and The Salmon River, only a mile away offers excellent salmon fishing in the fall. The Tug Hill Plateau snowmobile system can be accessed right from the property, which is located at the (C5) access point. With Alexandria bay less than an hour away, your stay will be eventful.

Fishing: The Salmon River is 1 mile away and offers great Chinook, Atlantic and Coho salmon fishing from September to November. Steelhead trout are prevalent pretty much from September to May. Northern Pike are also present in these and other waters from May to November. Bass fishing is allowed year round. Catch and release are practiced by all on autumn Lake as a means to preserve fish populations for excellent fishing.

White water rafting: Early spring and several especially reserved periods throughout the summer allows for some of the greatest white water rafting on the salmon River. All at reasonable prices.

snowmobiling/Cross Country Skiing: Numerous snowmobiling trails and cross country specific trails are next to or close by the Chalet.

About Dave Fernandes.,

A retired letter carrier of 35 years having served in the US Coast Guard for a few years, built my dream retirement home about 8 years before I planned to retire.

A labor of love, which meant a 55 hour week at the Post Office or more and another 13 hours on Sunday was the SOP. Now that I have been retired I have began to smell the roses, but not until I finish building the new addition to the Chalet. The Chalet Tiny House Project. Face Book "David Fernandes, Ludlow, MA" to follow...

Dave Fernandes., purchased this chalet in 2005

Why Dave Fernandes., chose New York

On our annual trip to Honeyoye Lake in the figure lakes, I discovered a listing of lake front property, north of Syracuse, NY. Myself, never being north of Syracuse, decided to take a drive. Needless to say, I was blown away by the beauty of Autumn lake. I had brought my bait caster rod and in 10 minutes caught 4 fish from shore. I wrote a check for 500.00 and the rest is history.

What makes this chalet unique

Number 1 benefit is the friendships I have acquired over the years through hosting my guests at the Chalet.

A dream fulfilled. A great distraction and passion for being the Best of Breed in the Thousand Islands. With over 30 five star reviews, the proof is in the pudding.

An onsite kennel allows our dog Dexter to, dry off after a swim.

Utopia!

  • 5 of 5

Everything my family needed ... And more! Five of us stayed the entire week ...2 adults, 2 teenagers and our bulldog. My elderly mom and adult niece stayed 2 nights. The kitchen has every item imaginable, which was important because we celebrated Thanksgiving. The bedrooms are large with comfy mattresses. Grandma used downstairs queen bed with attached bath and was full of compliments ....a vacation first! Cousins traded cell phones for board games and laughed late into the nights. It was too cold to use boats, but we had coffee and wine on the deck and enjoyed spectacular view. We hiked multiple trails. Dave went the extra mile to meet our needs and has written instructions for security system, satellite TV, etc. The house has two land line phones which is critical because cell reception is spotty. Pulaski, 10 minutes away, has a 24-hour grocery store. We ordered pizza delivery one night from Steffanos and it was very good. My only regret is that I overpacked ... I took waffle iron, blender and items most rentals don't have. Next time I'm just bringing a duffle! It was a great week and we will definitely re-visit.

Relaxing and Fun Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5

We spent a wonderful two weeks in autumn at the Chalet on Autumn Lake. The house was perfect for our party of six adults. Dave was very responsive to our particular situation and he went above and beyond to make our stay pleasurable. Promises he made at booking time were fully met upon our arrival. The kitchen was amply supplied for any of the cooking we did and the beds were all comfortable. We learned quickly to turn on the little fan near the stove whenever we cooked, otherwise the fire alarm would go off.

Local family and friends visited several times during our stay. We enjoyed eating and visiting on the spacious deck; gliding in the kayaks and boats on calm, private, and picturesque Autumn Lake; and chatting beside the fire pit in the cool of the evening. Connecting with nature in this treasure in the woods and on the lake was spiritually serene.

The whole region is full of photographic views so we took tons of photos. We enjoyed the Salmon River Fish Hatchery just a mile or two down the road where we learned about land-locked Salmon and their habits as well as other local fish. Salmon River Falls is a very short drive from the chalet and we visited it a couple of times. It is quite spectacular.

We shopped for groceries in Pulaski and discovered the Colosse Cheese store that sells very fresh and squeaky cheese curd…a family favorite.

We made fond memories during our stay and look forward to a return visit sometime in the future. I highly recommend this chalet.

A great time was had by all! We can't say enough about the Chalet and location. We had everything and more that we needed for a fabulous stay. Lisa wants your kitchen!! LOL. She and I took turns cooking some great meals there and did not need to buy a thing, except our groceries. It is all there folks!!! Just buy your fresh groc. in town and be sure to include marshallows for the fire pit in the cool eves.. This place was a HUGE improvement over our previous stays in the area. Everything worked!! Wonderful fishing, walks (safe) on country roads , rock collecting, picking wild apples (yum) and beautiful wildflower bouquets, and the list goes on. This is a slice of heaven for sure and you need not even debate where to stay if you are looking for a safe and great place. Oh, did I mention the top of the line matresses. So if you are tired of the hype of older , perhaps homes closer to the river or Lake Onterio. FORGET IT! Drive the extra mile. Just go out the Chalet back door, grab some fishing gear provided by Dave and Roz and jump in your elec. boat or kayak and GO FISHING. Or walk across the street to fish for steelhead and salmon. What could be better?? Plus, did I mention that Dave and Roz are the best! We also enjoyed the towns pizza, stromboli (delivered ) and ice cream and farm cheese stores. There are parks and orchards nearby and lots of fun for the kids. Do not hesitate to make this your next vacation stop. You will not be disappointed. Thanks so much Dave & Roz. We loved your NY home and will look forward to our next visit.

Peaceful Family Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a week at this Autumn Lake chalet. We had never been there before, and it was everything we expected. The pictures and information on the website are very accurate. The owner, Dave, was extremely helpful from our first inquiry on HomeAway until the day we left his chalet. He clearly loves meeting people and helping them to enjoy the beauty of his vacation home. They really thought of EVERYTHING! We did not venture out much because we were having too much fun kayaking, fishing, playing cards, reading, and spending some quality family time. We did visit Salmon River Falls, and that was very close by and a beautiful spot. We especially liked that our dog was welcome to join us. I would recommend this property to others and will probably rent it again sometime in the future.

Excellent place to rent

  • 5 of 5

Dave and Roz were gracious hosts and clearly communicated all details about the house. They were very easy to work with throughout the process and genuinely nice people. The house itself was clean and well stocked (included a mountain of board games which we really enjoyed) and very cozy. We enjoyed the electric fireplace in the living room and the real firepit outside. The lake is beautiful and very relaxing to take a boat out on and go fishing. We stayed here with 4 adult couples (and our 7 month old baby) and felt quite comfortable. We already want to rent next year! I would highly recommend this property. Thanks again Dave!

Beautiful, peaceful and private.

  • 5 of 5

The Chalet was all Dave and Roz advertise. The home is well kept, clean and just down right gorgeous. Very quiet and private spot. My family (wife, 2 daughters, 2 son-in-laws, 3 grandsons) had a extremely relaxing week. My 5 and 7 year old grandsons swam, kayaked and caught fish when ever they felt like it. They both have told me they that they want to live there! The satellite TV came in handy to quiet them down before bed time. Dave does a great job of communicating facts about the house and area. We enjoyed the fish hatchery, Salmon River falls and Sandy Island Beach State park just minutes away. If you're looking for some tranquility THIS IS the place for you. Many thanks to Dave and Roz. Peace.
