We bought this house as a family vacation home. Our children were young and we loved that the lake is private and that 2 security boats are always in the water in the summer months to keep everyone safe. The house provides 3 levels of living so there is room for everyone to spread out. There are 2 living rooms. We renovated almost everything in the house with hardwood floors and custom cabinets. The waterfront area is our favorite place to be. We have a large deck with lounge chairs and a picnic table, a fire pit. You can sit and watch the other boaters or take out the rowboat and kayaks and enjoy the lake that way. It's beautiful and peaceful. A great way to start the day is coffee lakeside.
The house is appointed with everything we wanted while enjoying it. There are plenty of pots, pans, silverware, etc.
We have board games and a whole movie library for your entertainment. There is also a ping pong table for some friendly family feuds.
We had a wonderful time and we never even left the home except to take a drive. The home and property is even prettier than it is in the pictures! We used the rowboat and kayaks several times a day and spent most of the nights on the dock.
The kitchen was well stocked for cooking and dining. The beds were all comfortable and the outdoor spaces were all furnished.
We will definitely be returning!!!
Our family was looking for the perfect getaway for the long weekend and this was it! We truly enjoyed our stay at this wonderful home. The scenery was picturesque! The fall foliage was colorful and fabulous. The morning sunrise across the glistening lake was soothing and comforting, a perfect start to a new day. Along with our vision of nature's beauty we enjoyed catching a daily glimpse of deer traversing across the property from the deck. The evenings were just as magical. As we sat by the lake, looking up at the stars amidst the warm embers emanating from the fire pit, we couldn't help but wonder how such beauty could be had in such a short period of time. The children toasting marshmallows by the fire and making s'mores brought back memories from our childhood. The whole experience made it feel like home. The house, with all its beauty, had all the necessities that one could ask for. For entertainment, the kids loved the pinball machine and had so much fun playing ping pong. The owner was very pleasant and informative. It was exactly as described and everything was perfect!
The house and community couldn’t have been better for a great family vacation – everyone from the kids through grandparents had something they loved about the place! The house has a nice rustic feel with a contemporary touch. The dock and boats were fabulous - morning, evening and night – even caught a few fish right from the dock, and of course enjoyed the firepit and the view. Inside was equipped with all of the necessities and extras we needed to fully enjoy our stay - I'm used to having to bring every little thing, and that wasn't the case with this rental. The Hideout main beach and pool were a lot fun (a little crowded on the weekends, though). I had read some mixed reviews on the Hideout staff and everyone we were in contact with were extremely helpful, accommodating and very friendly. Jennifer, thank you – the place is great and you were very accommodating and flexible! Hope to come back again soon!!
We are from the Buffalo, NY area and have rented several lake homes in the finger lakes. This year we decided to try out the Poconos as it is a little closer for our cousins in Connecticut and Baltimore. It turned out to be a wonderful house and great vacation!
The first few nights were quite hot, but the house had many fans and we were able to stay comfortable. The lower bedrooms each had a ceiling fan, the upper bedroom had 2 window fans and there was a ceiling and floor fan in the main living area.
The house was very well furnished and loaded with amenities. We enjoyed the decks very much, especially the deck by the lake! It was really big and was great for relaxing, eating and campfires (nice landscaping too!). We also enjoyed kayaking on the lake.
We were amazed by the garbage compactor and the amount of garbage it held! We were glad to have a dishwasher and plenty of dishes and utensils. We also enjoyed the ping pong table and the nice variety of videos and TV channels. The house was very clean, the decor well done and it was great to have 2 decent bathrooms and laundry facilities. The house was accurately described and the owner very responsive to all our questions.
This is the first time we have rented in a gated community. We enjoyed the amenities including tennis courts, beaches, pools and the baseball field where we had a great whiffle ball game! We ate at the clubhouse by the golf course - it was very good and reasonable! The clubhouse also lends movies and had a large variety. Although we didn't take advantage this time, there were several classes and programs to sign up for and the gym looked nice.
We didn't have any issues at the gate, all of our passes and information was ready for us. The owner was very careful to ensure we had copies of the paperwork supplied to the HOA and enough passes for all of us. The staff was courteous and helpful.
While there, we went white water rafting in the Lehigh gorge, visited the Lackawanna coal mine and caught a baseball game at the new PNC Field in Scranton. All were fun things to do!
This is a great vacation choice, the house and community were great and the owner was very nice to work with.
We had a wonderful time staying at this house in the Hideout. The house was clean and updated and the kitchen was very well stocked. The basement had many activities for the kids, a ping pong table, pinball machine. and plenty of games. The kids loved the room with the 4 twin beds! The ski hill was a perfect learning mountain for my 6 year old. I would recommend this house to anyone.
The description and pictures are accurate regarding this house. The kitchen is well stocked and we enjoyed eating outside most nights. The rowboat was fun for the kids. We fished from the dock and caught a few small fish. The house was clean and comfortable. I am sure most weeks would be OK without air conditioning but we stayed the week of July 4th and it was very hot. A couple of nights were warm but the bedrooms have ceiling fans (except the loft bedroom upstairs). Fortunately, the kids didn't seem to have any problems. We enjoyed both beaches at the lake and the pool was perfect for the kids. We didn't have good dining experiences either at the Hideout or the nearby restaurants so I can't recommend any restaurants. Overall, we had a positive experience and enjoyed our vacation at the lake. The staff at the Hideout was not friendly regarding obtaining paperwork for guest car passes. We warned everyone who came to visit us that the staff was rude. Most of the homes in the community I believe are owner occupied vs. rentals. Warning...arrive on time the first day because you may have trouble with the paperwork and the office closes at 4:00. Fortunately, we were able to contact the owner immediately who helped to resolve the situation. It was not the owner's fault but rather the Hideout who misplaced our paperwork.
No need to leave the dock. Beautiful Dock with Deck, stainless steel cooler and firepit on the lake. Use of Row Boat and two kayaks from the dock. Dining table and lounge chairs also on dock. Catch fish from your own dock or row/kayak to another spot.
