Wonderful New Year’s trip to Bilbao

I rented this apartment to surprise my wife with a trip to Bilbao for her 50th Birthday. She loves art and her lifelong dream had been to see the Guggenheim.

The apartment: It is lovely and in the old city across from the spledid old church. The pictures on the owner’s site are accurate. This apartment provides a great location from which to explore the city and the beautiful Basque countryside. It is close to bus lines, the street trolley, train station and the underground metro. There is a lovely, narrow wrap-around enclosed balcony which has windows that open wide to admit the sun and cool breezes in good weather. Each bedroom has a small balcony looking onto a lovely side street of the old city. There is no parking for a car, so be sure that you carefully plan where you keep your car if you rent one. The owner is friendly and helpful; we enjoyed working with him. The small eat-in kitchen has modern appliances that work great. There is a clothes washer in the unit (we didn’t use it) and a drying rack. The building has a small evelvator in the stairwell that worked well for sending luggage up and down. It really is a modern lovely dwelling inside a old and historic building. At night the noise from the side streets where there are small bars is noticeable, but it was nothing unpleasant or unduely distracting; this is a real urban environment in an active living city. I always felt very safe in the apartment and on the street. Security for the apartment is excellent with several heavy locked doors. If you choose this rental, you will not regret it!

Fabulous location!

Price was right for the 4 of us and the best was having two separate full bathrooms. Close to everything. Had issue with not enough hot water but learned to deal with it.

Owner's Response: Dear family, Thank you very much for your coments. The boiler offers instantaneous sanitary hot water. It is not accumulated, therefore it has a limitation of liters per minute. Sufficient for a maximum of 4 people and a bathroom as you can see in the description on the web. The location is really good because all services are close and there is a lot of atmosphere around. To be comfortable it is very important to take into account that both the room and the living room have a lot of natural light. This is very difficult to find in a historical center of narrow streets.Our apartment has the advantage of being south facing and with clear views (churche, river and market son nuestras vistas) Best regards Iratxe

Great location in the beautiful Bilbao Viejo.

We loved the place, not easy to find it (no visible number) if you rent a car however once you get there it is the perfect location, market is across and Plaza Nuevo just few blocks up. The apartment has everything you need, quite spacious for Europe - the only shortcoming is the noise on the street until something early morning - you will need your ear plugs.

All in all fantastic place to stay and visit this wonderful city.

Great, conveniently located apartment in Bilbao

It is as advertised. We were met by a friend of Juan at the agreed upon time. He oriented us to the apartment and area. The apartment was impecably clean with a well stocked kitchen. It is totally Ikea, if that is what you have satisfactorly experienced at other rentals. We are two older couples, one from Australia (half American ex-pat) and the other from the US. The rooms were spacious enough for the four of us, and the two full baths were appreciated. We were able to walk everywhere from this location and found it conveniently by public transport from the airport. The Australians had a car and parking was nearby in a public, secure lot. We loved Spain, Bilbao, and this apartment.

In the Heart of the City!

Juan's apartment is a little quirky, but it is clean, comfortable and a nice base for exploring Bilbao. The location is terrific, in Old Town and across the street from the Market. Everything you need is close, including the Tram and Metro. We were challenged to initially find the apartment, even though we knew where it was - look for the number on the business signage over the door to the building. We also recommend public transportation. If you are arriving by car, be sure to understand the location of the parking garage - small, one-way streets can make getting around difficult. Note the garage is a brisk 15 minute walk from the apartment. Juan and his family were good hosts and checked in with us to make sure everything was okay. We highly recommend this property.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your kind words. Betwen the San Anton churche and the Ribera market are a litle square. The apartment is in front of this square (plaza de Consulado).Watching the pictures, is posible watch the churche, square, river and market. Our bulding has the archs and in the third stone arch is the entrance to the apartment. In this entrance is a Tobac shop. Our apartement is in the second flat. Are diferent posibilitys for parking but if you want to be relaxed during all the day , the best is "El parking the El Arenal".For come back at home, the distance is 700 meters. Perfect base for Bilbao city break

Lovely apartment with plenty of space and a great location near the river and opposite the city market where we shopped for breakfast. The wrap around 'balcony' windows in the lounge make for perfect people watching if you can bear to stay inside in this lovely city. Loads of good bars and restaurants within easy walking distance and Ledesma street on the other side of the river worth checking out for pinxtos bars. We walked all round the city - from the funicular to the bull ring (ring the bell on the door and they let you in to wander round the bull ring and museum), the Gulbenkian to the amazing Bizkaiko Zubia bridge. For a break from the city we took the metro (a whole 2 Euros) to Plentzia and its beautiful sandy beach.
