We started fishing for Steelhead and Salmon over 25 years ago and fell in love with the Northwest corner of Michigan for fishing and for family trips to see the colors in the fall. Our family and friends have come to love the Chalet as the perfect get away for any season. I hope you will, too.
Chris purchased this house in 2005
The Chalet is located in the middle of where you want to be when you travel to Northwest Michigan. It's a block off Crystal Lake, it's 6 minutes to Beulah, 15 minutes to Lake Michigan, 20 minutes to Crystal Mountain, 25 minutes to Sleeping Bear Dunes and the great towns on Leelenau Peninsula, and 40 minutes to Traverse City. Two fishing and canoeing rivers, the Platte and the Betzie, are very close. Frankfort has an A&W, a family favorite, and many other attractions.
The Chalet has lots of room and the comforts of your own home to spread out for a very relaxing vacation. It's well equiped with all the kitchen and grilling supplies you need to craft a gourmet dinner or a casual meal. The large deck overlooks a beautiful meadow - if you're lucky the deer and turkeys will pay you a visit!
This was our third trip to the Beulah Chalet for a ski weekend with our extended family and as always we had a great time. The house is perfect for our trips and we were pleased that the kitchen has been updated. The Chalet is about 15 minutes away from Crystal Mountain and equidistant for our families from Chicago and Detroit. Another family flew in to Grand Rapids from DC. Our "kids" ranged from age 14 to 24. The bedrooms and bunk rooms are comfortable and easily fit kids young and old as well couples. We enjoyed close-by restaurants in Manitou on Lake Michigan, The Roadhouse and pizza at A Papanos late on Friday night when we arrived or for the kids when the couples went out to eat. The Beulah Chalet is rustic, comfortable, and housed many great memories for families who live across the country but want to find ways to stay and play together. When we ski Crystal Mountain again, we will be back!
We had another fabulous vacation at The Beulah Chalet!!! The mid September dates we picked, were beautiful and had just about every meal on the large picnic table on the deck. The kitchen has been recently remodeled, and was perfect for all the family cooking. Love the new kitchen!!! The location is perfect for enjoying the great small towns that are in area. We particularly like Frankfort, with all the beach activity and the new Brewery in town. Of course, we explored Sleeping Bear Dunes and saw some of the most amazing views from the top of the Dunes, and enjoyed many great hikes. The location is perfect for whatever interests you. I am sure the trip back to Beulah Chalet will be the highlight of 2016!!! The owners are most gracious!!!
Our holiday was wonderful and we regret that we didn't get to spend enough time at the Beulah Chalet (we had youth performing at Interlochen, so we were there to see the shows). From the fire pit, to the quiet property (star gazing at night!), and the great accommodations, we could have stayed there without the kids getting bored--for at least a day! And the kitchen is amazingly stocked for people who like to cook! The house is at an easy distance from Frankfort, Interlochen, and the Dunes. We rented a boat on Crystal Lake, which is a wonderful lake--it looks like the Caribbean with the turquoise colored water. We also went to the drive-in theatre (a must for families!). The house is incredibly welcoming & well-equipped, which made for such an easy transition of being on the road and into a guesthouse. The owner was great to work with and we hope to be able to return next year--for a longer time! Thank you for so many thoughtful details!
Take away some drain issues on to separate days of rental (which I need to add were handled in a timely manner by owner), we had a great stay at the Beulah Chalet! Plenty of space for entire extended family with grandkids enjoying bunk room, viewing of wildlife in meadow from deck, and fires in back yard. New kitchen was very nice my wife loved the cupboards! From the washer, dryer, dishwasher, linens, towels, grills, and other supplies our entire family was impressed feeling right at home! The Chalet is centrally located with many activities for all ages within a short drive or walk. Boated on Crystal Lake many times and Lake Michigan once, hiked sleeping Bear Dunes, shopped in Frankfort/Traverse City, dined at Cherry Hut, and viewed Beulah fireworks. Highly recommend the Chalet for large families to enjoy a "home away from home" made possible by owner. Our group hopes to return in 2017!
The accommodations at the Beulah Chalet were outstanding during our visit in August! From the kitchenware/supplies to the towels, linens and detergents, our extended family felt right at home. The Chalet was able to provide for our large group and make use of the lovely deck and view. We saw deer, birds, chipmunks and even stray cows that wandered through the meadow! Bonfires (wood provided) were a treat in the evenings as well as the use of grills provided. It truly felt like home away from home!
Other activities during our stay included canoeing the Platte River, golfing, jet skis, putt putt golf, Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes, antiquing in Beulah, shopping in Frankfort, breakfast at The Cherry Hut and a delicious dinner at The Manitou Restaurant.
We would highly recommend the Chalet for larger families/groups. The owner has thought of everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible!
We had a great stay at the Beulah Chalet! It's a large house with plenty of space. Our kids loved loved the bunk room and it was nice to have plenty of room to spread out for the adults too.
The kitchen and bathrooms, etc. had everything you would need and the outdoor space was also very nice.
And it was centrally located around lots of things - we canoed, went to the drive in, biked, checked out Sleeping Bear Dunes and more!
We would definitely recommend it!
