Very clean and welcoming. Water is a bit of a walk but we knew that going in. Nice quiet lake. We caught many sunfish, a few bass and a northern off the dock. Only real negative is that there is no public access to the lake.
Star Lake does not have public access to it. Which means a few good things.. it is a very clean lake (great for swimming) and there are less invasive species that can take over the lake, healthier lakes means healthier fish. The lake is quiet due to low boat traffic. It is the perfect lake for kayaking, canoeing, paddle boating and swimming. Next year (fingers crossed) we hope to offer our guests a small fishing boat to use on the lake. Thanks for staying and we are glad you caught some fish!!!
Blue Cabin, Blue Lake, Blue Ribbon
My husband and I wanted a relaxing few days where we could just stare at the water in peace. This cabin really fit the bill. It was easy to find; we knew it immediately from the lovely color. Inside, everything is new, and smells like fresh wood. The beds are comfortable, and the shower is terrific! (Lots of shampoo, soap supplied.) Although we did not end up cooking, all the appliances are new and full size. The decor is simple and attractive, northwoods without being dark and too “cabiny”. The back deck is spacious, and has a new looking gas grill, plenty of places to sit. Near the cabin is the first fire pit furnished with comfy chairs and plenty of supplied kindling and wood. Follow down the slope to the lake, and there is another fire pit with same chairs and good supply of wood. I spent an evening here enjoying somemores while my husband went to bed early! Just be sure to put out the fire, a water can is supplied to get water from the lake. THE LAKE! Want to fish? Looks like good fishing! Two kayaks with paddles and PFDs are there for you to use. Other lawn toys are in a chest by the boat rack. (I hear they just got a paddle boat!) The dock was where I spent most of my time in one of those chairs with a book. Little fish will visit you looking for a treat. The water is clear with a few weeds and lily pads so you know it is a healthy lake. I went swimming (not deep enough to dive from the dock though). The lake is beautiful. Be sure to kayak around it. We ate at restaurants a couple of times, and got a supply of simple groceries at the supermarket in Crosslake. Next time I will bring a supply from home (there is not flour etc. but you will find coffee in the cabin!) and cook there so I don’t have to leave! We ate at Norway Ridge (way overpriced for pretty standard supper club food) and Cedar Chest (standard food, but good prices, SUPER FRIENDLY). The Wharf looks extremely popular. Head for a great patio over a lake, get some drinks. If there is a restaurant that cooks from scratch with fresh ingredients, I want to find it there, since I intend to return. Sara did a great job with the hospitality. Oh yeah, there is a nice tv, but we didn’t even turn it on! Peace. Lake. Loons. Highly recommend.
WOW....Thanks Janet!! We appreciate the great care you took of our cabin and are so happy you got to relax!!! Hope you come back soon, the loons will be waiting.
Home away from home!
Nicely updated with all the amenities of home, but nicely nestled in the woods. Loved the call of the loons! The lake was peaceful, and picturesque. We enjoyed the ice cream store and the thrift stores that were close by. We can't wait until we can return again.
We sure hope you do return again!!!
The loons will be waiting for you.
Thanks for staying and for the kind words. :)
