Perched atop Fisher Hill sits Little House--just around the corner from bustling downtown with wonderful shops and restaurants. There is a peek at the Harbor--on a clear day you can see Burnt Island Light! Just right for four people, it has a fireplace in the living room; spacious kitchen; a lovely dining room for family meals and games; two bedrooms and a bath. For your entertainment, there is network television; a VCR/DVD player; CD player and, of course, puzzles and board games! Our favorite thing is to curl up with a novel from the supply in the reading nook. For chilly days, firewood is provided. One bedroom has a queen-sized bed and the second has two twin beds. Guests may supply their own linens or subscribe to optional linen service for an extra fee. Well-behaved dogs will be considered for an extra fee per dog. This is a smoke-free establishment. Not handicapped accessible.
Comments from Guest Book:: 'Little House'--what can we say? You provided good beds, hot water, well appointed kitchen, comfortable chairs...you were serene and warm. You also gave us the opportunity to be introduced to one of the most beautiful parts of of the world--its rocks, its water, its trees and its people. Thanks. B.,G. & A.Z, from Virginia.'
'We had a truly delightful time in Little House! The atmosphere, awesome food & community members of Boothbay made our time here special. We wanted somewhere awesome for our honeymoon & Little House lived up (to our expectations).' K&N from Virginia
'...We have experienced a dream life these past 7 days. Can't thank you enough for the cutest home! Loved the furnishings, quilts and decorations. Wish we had a permanent address here! S.,E.& C.J. L. from Kansas
Had a great week at little house, perfect location walking distance to everything. House was just the right size for me, my wife , our 1 year old and our dog. It has a great beach cottage feel inside which I liked.
Location location location is everything. very close to town. The owner Margaret is very helpful. The house is small yet ideal for a couple. There is a steep hill which you will need to climb when you come and go. We enjoy the time in Boothbay
My wife and I rented this awesome little house when we got married on 7/26. Not only is it the perfect location just in town, but it's also pushed back in the woods just enough to give you privacy. Our dog enjoyed the huge fenced in backyard. The owner was very accommodating and gave us everything we needed to make our vacation outstanding! There is a great book collection and it was so cozy having fires. I would recommend this rental to anyone that wants to have the best vacation!
Just as my title says - Home Away From Home. Little House is just that. It is welcoming, warm, comfortable, super clean, well-maintained, well-appointed, and owned by a wonderful person Margaret Perritt. Margaret makes your stay so great that you don't always feel like having to leave it for shopping, sightseeing, or dining out. If the spirit moves you, you feel content just to stay there for the day. Margaret is also just a local phone call away (phone in the cottage) if there are any problems and she is there in a heartbeat if you need her.
This is our 3rd time to LH, but many times to BBH. The area is rich in views beyond your imagination, shops that delight all senses, eateries to tickle the most delicate of palates - and, of course, lobster!!, and just plain Down East experiences. If you find a need to go outside of the Harbor, I would suggest the Botanical Gardens in Boothbay, the Maritime Museum in Bath, and best of all, Pemaquid Point Lighthouse on the Pemiquid peninsula out of Damariscotta. As many times as we have been to BBH, we finally did the Balmy Days II boat ride to Monhegan Island and would do it again.
Little House is perfect for a family of four (5 if one doesn't mind sleeping on the couch - it is very comfortable! We've done it). The kitchen is so well-supplied there is really nothing that you need to bring for that purpose. The dining area is so sunny and bright - perfect for playing games or doing jigsaw puzzles that Margaret has so thoughtfully stashed away for rainy days, and of course meals.
She even has made available hats, binoculars, umbrellas, maps, guides, dog-walking baggies, and much more. She has thought of everything - a fan in each room, too!
The driveway is up a hill, pretty steep, but even I was able to navigate it on foot as a senior citizen. It is so peaceful up there on the hill away from the roar of the traffic on Rte 27.
I cannot wait to get back there again as I have left my heart in BBH and LH!
A nice "Little House" that is in the perfect location. Easy walks into town where shops, restaurants and the harbor itself. Return trip is up the steep driveway but made for a good little workout.
The inside is tidy and has a clean full kitchen that supplies all you would need to prepare any meals (if you decide not to walk into town) and there is a modern updated bathroom. The bungalow does show its age in the bedrooms and living room (with a nice stone fireplace!) but is part of the charm and overall ambiance.
The off-site owner is very pleasant to deal with and made our stay very pleasant.
Thanks MJP, we'll be back!!!
Little House was peaceful and clean. The kitchen was nicely supplied and the house has great natural lighting - light, bright and cheery. We loved the location to downtown - everything was within a nice walking distance.
Boothbay Harbor is a classic New England seaport. This small community is becoming, once again, the wooden boat building center of the east coast. The Jamestown 2007 ship, 'Discovery', was built here. Nearby Pemiquid Lighthouse and the rocky coast is a must-see. A visit to the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens; the Railroad Village and the Aquarium will thrill the children and adults alike. The Opera House offers exciting programs throughout the summer. The whole family will enjoy cruising out into the Bay of Maine to see whales, harbor seals and the many islands that dot the seascape. Community theater, band concerts on the commons, Windjammer Days, fireworks over the Harbor, and homemade ice cream make life grand in the summertime in Boothbay Harbor!
