Overview

About the property

Apartment, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

This original apartment was planned by an architect in a quiet lane close to one of the main streets in Venice, within Campo San Polo - one of the most famous and large squares in Venice - and it is 5 minutes walk from the famous RIALTO BRIDGE.

In Campo San Polo there is the 'Querini Dubois Palace' an excellent example of Venetian Renaissance architecture, today used as a cultural Centre also for the Film festival organization. During that event in September, St. Polo’s square becomes a moving picture theatre every evening. The apartment is really only a few minutes walk from the public water bus (called 'vaporetto' line 1 SAN STAE), and it is situated near Rialto, the oldest area of Venice historic centre in a centuries old building, on the 2nd floor (North American designation, 1st European).

The entrance is through an independent door and stairs used by two apartments, with earthenware floor and original wooden beam ceilings. It offers very easy access to all the city attractions (only a short walk (15 min. - to St. Mark’s square!). Moreover, in the same district you can find 'Basilica dei Frari' a wonderful church full of historical vestiges, including Canova’s grave.

The apartment is perfect for a couple on a romantic holiday, as it offers warmth, privacy, and the comfort of the most central position you could wish for! But also, the apartment can be the perfect, comfortable and convenient base to explore Venice's beauty and discover its alleys, canal, sights - restaurants, bars and Bacari or osterie (characteristic and historic Venetian wine bars with daily SPRITZ. Meeting place where it is possible to eat small fried food and have a chat with friends or even strangers).

Shop and market are round the corner and just in a few steps you are at the fish market 'La Pescaria' famous all over the world (fish, fruit and vegetable). Moreover, only in a short distance from the apartment, you can find some of the most typical and characteristic Venetian restaurants, very interesting for the various gastronomic proposals and for the different service and rates, such as: DA FIORE, one of the most exclusive restaurants in Italy, suitable to very high standard dinner; ANTICHE CARAMPANE, Venetian cuisine, high level, very quiet in a charming corner, VECIO FRITOLIN an old and marvellous tavern in Calle della Regina (Rialto), meeting place for artists and, in a short way away close to them, AL NONO RISORTO for a dinner in the garden; in Campo St. Polo BIRRARIA LA CORTE pizza-restaurant and characteristic Venetian cuisine. While, for visitors of the Biennal Exhibition gardens, AL DIPORTO at St. Elena’s island offers typical dishes and is attended by Venetians.

Great apartment!

  • 5 of 5

Enrico graciously awaited our arrival so that he could personally direct us to his home. What a kind, gentle man!

The apartment is in a quiet, secure building in an area which makes it easy to get around.

The walk from port is difficult with luggage due to the many steps, but we managed, so I am sure anyone can.

Clean, spacious, and most wonderful views (canal directly below, and garden view as well). Bed was comfortable, and storage space was provided in bedroom.

A/C is provided. I encourage others to use as there can be many bugs otherwise!

We paid directly, which did end up costing a few euro more per night, but we thought it was worth it!

Enrico was available to assist us with our vacation, offering tips, providing maps, and even a special gift. Thanks Enrico! We highly recommend staying at this oasis!

Amazing Venice Hideaway!

  • 5 of 5

This apartment was perfect for our family of four. Enrico was a most gracious host, meeting us upon arrival and giving us a tour of the area, and the apartment and all of the amenities. Also, we very much appreciated the delicious gift of balsamic vinegar from Modena! The apartment was comfortable, clean, well appointment, and very convenient to everything we wanted to see. I would most definitely stay in this apartment again!

We had a great trip to Venice and it was enhanced by our great accommodations. Clean, comfy and cool. The view over the canal was super interesting. Loved watching the gondolas and boat taxis go by. Restaurants close by or all you need to cook a meal at home.

A wonderful respite in the midst of tourist chaos!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at Enrico's Hideaway. He was waiting patiently for us at the San Stae stop, to escort us to the apartment. By pointing out the proximity to Campo San Polo, you can always be sure to find it after a long day touring. What I loved the most about the apartment was how close it was to almost everything. We tended to walk everywhere, saving an all day water taxi pass for the last day, when our feet finally gave out after 14 days in Italy. That day, we got to see the city by water - which is something that everyone should do. The apartment is very well appointed with everything you need (except an electric dryer, but we made due with the portable clothes dryer). The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of storage for our things. Having AC was really necessary due to the high heat that week.

Enrico was a lovely host. He had a small gift for us of balsamic vinegar (who doesn't want to bring a bottle of this lovely nectar home? This was an awesome idea!) He also gave us a DVD from a past Carnivale, which I have plans to watch this weekend. Best of all, he was extremely thoughtful by providing us with so much useful information. Upon arrival, he showed us through the apartment. He gave us maps, and lists of local restaurants and shops. Most importantly, he notified us of an impending transit strike, which had the potential to disrupt our return to the airport. By providing us with several alternative routes, and the warning to be early, rather than "on time", we were able to ensure we made our flight. To the end, Alilaguna is the best option for getting to Marco Polo.

Thanks you Enrico! We loved your place - especially the guiet and serene view. It was a treat to watch a local man attache his docked boat to a wench, lift it out of the water, and bring it into his "boat garage". True life in Venezia!

Great Apartment! Great Location!

  • 5 of 5

My daughter and I stayed in this lovely apartment for 3 nights. The pictures on the website do not do this apartment justice. It's very nicely renovated, updated with new appliances and spotless. The kitchen is very well outfitted with plenty of dishes, cutlery, pots/pans and cooking utensils. The bed is king size and comfortable. Having a washer was a treat. We had just spent 6 days in Rome and it was great to be able to have some fresh clothes. The wifi worked great. The area is central and easy walking distance to the major sites. Enrico was easy to deal with and always replied promptly to any questions.

Thank you Enrico for making us feel at home. We would definitely stay in your apartment the next time we're in Venice. All the best, Alla & Monica

Perfectly appointed, quiet apartment in lovely neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying at Enrico's hideaway. The apartment is tucked away in the center of San Palo, has lots of light, all the modern amenities in a building with lots of history...a real find in a Venice that is completely overrun with tourists in the summer. It is steps away from fabulous restaurants, churches, museums, etc. Best of all was Enrico''s warmth and welcome. He went out of his way to respond to all our queries, and was kind enough to allow us to pay the rental fee in installments (we messed up and didn't have enough euros on hand). The best host we have interacted with in many years of traveling the world and renting apartments! You cannot go wrong with Enrico''s hideway. We loved our four days in Venice thanks in large part to Enrico's welcome. Thanks Enrico...we will be back for sure.
