City And Lush Forest Living!!! (SCROLL DOWN FOR CALENDAR) -- Ten Mins/Miles due North of Space Needle and the downtown core. This is a perfect 2000 square foot lodge set on a secluded half acre, dashed with a magical mystical fairy-tale feel. Awesome for weddings/events and lodging as it's pin-drop-quiet (no barking dogs or road noise) augmented by the calm winds rustling through the towering trees nestled in the lush Lake Forest Park located on the outskirts of downtown Seattle. The lodge sports 7 beds: a sexy loft with a queen size bed and 2 twins (or put together for one queen), king size mahogany sleigh bed in the master bedroom, sleigh queen size in 2nd bedroom, bunk-beds 3rd bedroom. Keyless entry/Push-pad front door lock with code makes for simple entry and exit for large groups. Don't run out of hot shower water with large groups at the lodge, as this vacation spot has unlimited hot water so no running out with back to back showers. The back yard is entirely fenced in for dogs and small kids to roam freely. All in all this is a woodsy camp ground fresh air fantasy come true.

Everything We Had Hoped For and More

  • 5 of 5

We came into town from the east coast for my daughter's wedding. We had rented two houses for the wedding party of 24. Even though the other house was bigger, this house was so fabulous, all of our big group activities and meals ended up here. When we drove up the driveway, we knew we had made the right decision. The house was very clean and well-maintained. The yard was landscaped beautifully and surrounded by a natural fence which made it perfect for the children. The deck and gas BBQ in back was used frequently during the week we were there. The kitchen was well-stocked with cookware, glassware and utensils. The washer and dryer were large load capacity and worked quickly and efficiently. The loft was roomy and easy to access. The living areas were well lit with natural light from the large windows and wall mirrors in the foyer. The traffic pattern in the house made it easy for 10 of us to feel comfortable sleeping there.

The manager was well-organized and prompt in his responses, which made the financial end of our rental experience a true delight. We loved being away from hustle and bustle of Seattle proper, but close enough to drive (or ride the bus) to the downtown tourist sights. Because of the location, we also had the time to explore the northern part of Seattle with it's wooded parks and island ferries. A wonderful place to stay while visiting The Emerald City!

Paradise on Earth, Lord of the Rings trees

  • 5 of 5

If you must have stainless steel and granite counter tops the lodge is not for you. Most people might comment on the ample amount of bedding or the incredible amount of exterior glass ( 3 glass French doors, a glass slider, picture window, glass block inserts, a sky-lite twice as big as any I've ever seen in a house and two two-story glass walls). But for me the highlight was the PRIVACY. You can see the roofs of nearby houses over the privacy fence only if you stand in just the right spot on the second floor. The fully fenced back yard was paradise-on-earth for our dog. And with the 100 foot trees, I half expected Gandolf to step out of Lord of the Rings and come striding up the hill to join me on the back deck. The location couldn't have been better with a 10 minute walk to the shopping center to meet all your needs with restaurants, a grocery store, and much more.

For dog walkers, there are two nice parks (Animal Park and Blue Heron Park) less than 1/2 mile away. Both have doggie bag dispensers and waste cans. There is also a 20+ mile asphalt walkway within 1/2 a mile.

My greatest fear is that my review might cause the lodge to already be rented should we want it next year. We spent two months in the lodge and I can't imagine a better situation.

A rare find!

  • 5 of 5

I'm from San Francisco and my friends and I have stayed at the lodge more than once and have found it to be awesome. We love the woods, the close stores and restaurants, and the general upscale area where the home is located. The air is especially nice there, with the woods all around. There is easy fast access to downtown. Yet the lodge is in a really quiet laid back forested setting where quiet reigns.

We really loved the interior's spacious loft overlooking the living room, the floor to ceiling windows, lots of character and all the beds are really comfortable, serving up a good night's sleep for us all.

The endless hot water in the bathroom showers was also much appreciated as many times we have two showers running, both running back to back showers.

All in all this is a great place, very functional and gorgeous ta boot. It fit all our needs. We would come back again and most likely will.

For a true Pacific Northwest experience, I highly recommend this great location.

Don't believe the reviews.

  • 1 of 5

I would not recommend this property. Pleasant on initial appearance but very dated. Twin bunk beds nearly unsleepable due to thinness of mattress. Downstairs queen bed broken on arrival and although it was repaired the following day part of our party chose to sleep elsewhere. Package of ritz crackers and unused tampon beneath the bed. We would not return! The manager was pleasant, had bed fixed and promised us partial repayment of our fee but we have yet to see it!

Owner's Response: Please disregard this review. We got a bad egg. As it turns out, our cleaning and repair staff determined that this party staying at the Lodge actually broke the very beautiful queen size sleigh bed themselves. Most likely by rambunctious kids. We of course fixed their breakage immediately. The guests refused to take responsibility by cutting contact without completing communications. Hence sending this false review. The bunk beds are just fine with never a complaint. The home is also meticulously cleaned between guests. The Lodge is one of the top five most rented homes in the Pacific North West for good reason. That's because, as guests will agree, it's awesome. Please allow the positive reviews to be your guide in reviewing the Lodge for your stay in the great Pacific North West. Thanks for your patience. David Wakefield-Manager.

Lovely destination for large families!

  • 5 of 5

Right from the initial inquiry, the owner was very quick to answer questions and guide us in our reservation for this beautiful home. The house is charming and comfortable for our large family gathering that needed to accommodate 12 of us. The beds and linens were comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked with what ever you could imagine needing for meal preparation. Do check all the cupboards before you shop since you will find quite a few staples that have been generously left by prior guests. The living room and dining areas invite group gatherings in comfort. The location is very private with lush woodland surroundings.

Just a short walk down 165th puts you on the Burke-Gilman Trail along Lake Washington. We walked a short distance north to the Starbucks for our morning paper. The Haggen's grocery is in that complex along with a great Farmer's Market.

The location was perfect. It is very easy to get to the Interstate, to the 405 that goes on the eastside of the lake. Or directly west towards some of the ferry terminals.

The heating is a little tricky in this bumped out a-frame. Our recommendations would be to keep the ceiling fans on medium and open all the bedroom and bathroom doors during the day while the heat is on for even distribution.

We loved our stay here. I would recommend to anyone as a great home base as you explore all there is to see in the PNW.
