LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION
Especially charming, large 1920's home right in the heart of East Hampton village. Mediterranean blue-gray heated gunite pool with adjoining brick patio and hot tub. Lounge chairs and umbrellas, direct sunlight all day. The house is cheerful and comfortable, with tasteful country antiques and farmhouse furnishings. Very suitable for families, or couples who want guests (no group rentals, however). Beautiful garden and patio furniture provided. Outdoor shower next to the pool and hot tub.
One and a half blocks to Citarella (gourmet food and vegetable shop) for morning coffee, newspaper, prepared food, and groceries. Two blocks to village center, including Jitney stop,, train station (with transportation to New York City) and movie theatre. Less than 1 mile to ocean beach. Bicycles available. Main Street location allows walking or biking everywhere. Backyard completely fenced in. Will consider pets on a case by case basis.
Cozy and comfortable for fall and winter rentals: large living room fireplace, large cook's kitchen with restaurant stove, lovely dining room for family gathering, century old trees on the property. Roomy bedrooms with new mattresses (5th and 6th bedrooms maids' room size). All bedrooms have an individual bathroom (some with original clawfoot tubs from the 20's. )Extensive library and great spots for reading as well tv/dvd viewing (tv in living room and 2 bedrooms).

John Ford is pictured here with Ruggles at Egypt Beach, East Hampton, which is less than a mile from the house. He and his wife Cecilia purchased the house in 1995. It has had only 2 previous owners since it was built in 1927.

It's very close to the village, the beach, and is spacious and cheerful.
You can walk there from the village, jitney, train station, etc.
We like being able to go back and forth to the beach for short trips: for a brief walk, a quick swim, another walk at sunset, or an afternoon of fishing.
Tastefully furnished and decorated with many one of a kind country antiques.
Proximity to all the many benefits of East Hampton village, which is uniquely beautiful and interesting.
Walking/biking distance to the ocean beach.
5 Individual bathrooms, plus outdoor shower.
Exceptional flower garden.
This is the nicest house we have rented yet in terms of style, comfort and convenient location. Wonderful details throughout and very nice owners. Our family really appreciated the thoughtful way they helped us plan for arrival--making sure the house was suitable for our kids and had kid-friendly furnishing (it does). We'll be back.
This is our third year renting off-season, and our second at this house. Once we found this place, we resolved to come back and had a great time both years.
The house is spacious and bright—it’s got a great fireplace and full dining room for fall/winter evenings. Big kitchen is very well equipped.
All the bedrooms are comfortable and beautifully furnished, and the hot water, etc. is great.
Best of all is the location—right in the village so you can walk everywhere and really close to the ocean beach. We would pop down for a morning and evening walk in less than 2 minutes. Also, the house is large but has numerous cozy corners for reading, relaxing, napping, and all the other things our family likes best.
(There is also a great library!)
The Fords, the owners are warm, helpful, and attentive.
We will be back next year!
This is our 4th year back at this house. It seems to work
well for everyone in the family. The teenagers love being able to walk or bike to town and their beach—so do the adults. Not needing to drive everywhere is great. The little kids like the hot-tub near the pool—it’s like a private pool to them. I enjoyed the great kitchen and the comfortable beds. Also, lying next to the pool in the hammock.
Thanks—we’ll be back next year!
This was our first trip to the Hamptons from CA and we had a great time in this home. The kitchen is well stocked, the dining room was great for groups, and the pool/Jacuzzi were amazing. Everything is a close walk and the car that comes with the house is perfect for exploring the hamptons. The owners were very responsive, flexible and accommodating.
As soon as I walked in the door I felt at home. The beautiful rustic antiques and folk art looked like what I'd want in my own home. Each room is flooded with light at some time of the day and the sun porch has windows on 3 sides so it's always cheery. The huge couches in the living room facing a roaring fire are the perfect place to be on a chilly day. As a former professional chef, I found the kitchen stocked with everything needed for a fine meal. When we didn't want to cook, it was a short walk to Citarella. Our stay was in the early spring so we weren't able to try out the pool. The internet was fast, the property clean and the owners were incredibly helpful when we had some difficulty finding the house. I have recommended this property to friends and family.
I rented this home with a group of friends for about 2 months during the summer of 2012. The house is charming and well-maintained, with a lovely pool and backyard. Its proximity to the town of East Hampton (about 8 minutes' walk time to the main street) cannot be beat. The inclusion of a car with an East Hampton beach sticker was also tremendously valuable. All bedrooms were well air-conditioned, the kitchen well-appointed, and the living spaces were comfortable and inviting. The owners were tremendously helpful and communicative from start to finish. All in all, a wonderful experience!
