The Periwinkle Cottage is a charming cottage in the woods with a lovely ocean view. The Periwinkle Cottage is tucked in the woods above a cove one mile south of the northern tip of Campobello Island and within walking distance of the beautiful East Quoddy Head Harbour Lighthouse and the Head Harbour wharf where working fishing boats dock and Whale Watch Tours take on passengers. The East Quoddy Head Lighthouse is one of the most photographed in the world . At low tide you can walk on the ocean floor to go over to the island the lighthouse sits. The Periwinkle is a 2 room cottage with an expansive deck for bird and whale watching and a lovely view of the Pasaquoddy Bay. Enjoy dining alfresco with eagles and ospreys flying overhead and the sounds of whales feeding in the cove below. Easy, close-up views of whales are frequent in the summer and early fall. This is a private and charming retreat surrounded by trees and Adirondack chairs on the cliff overlooking the water

My husband and I had a wonderful time at Periwinkle Cottage. It was great to take a few days to relax and unwind. The cottage is exactly as described and the views were spectacular. We are definitely going to return to Campobello Island!
Beautiful little space
The setting was awesome. The owners were very helpful with suggestions of things to do. When it turned out that the next cottage over was a construction zone for a day, they offered me an extra day, which I enjoyed. All in all a lovely little getaway.
We so enjoyed having Deborah at the Periwinkle Cottage. She left the cottage in great shape and I would recommend her as a guest! So pleasant to deal with! Hope she can return someday.
Beautiful setting, amenities not as described
While the setting is lovely, I was disappointed in details of what was available at the cottage: freezer did not work, toilet seat cover was broken, pantry items said to be available were 6 spices, no salt. Grill should be listed as charcoal grill so guests know to bring charcoal and lighter fluid. Did not find beach chairs said to be available. Certainly none of these things ruined the stay or marred the beauty of the island, but for the price I expected more.
We are so sorry with the problems that Jane encountered. We wish Jane had contacted us or the cleaning lady during her stay and we would have remedied anything that we could have at that time. Unfortunately no one heard from Jane so we could solve these issues. We checked the freezer but could not find a problem with the freezer. We have never provided pantry items like seasonings but if a traveler leaves them we always leave them for the next person to use. We are so sorry Jane expected a different kind of grill but we have always had a charcoal grill and in the details of the listing it does tell you that the grill is a charcoal grill and you can purchase charcoal and lighter fluid at the local grocery. Unfortunately the toilet seat lid (lid only not the seat part) did break right before her stay but the nearest place to get a toilet seat is an hour and a half away and we didn't have time to get one before Jane arrived the next day but had it by the time Jane checked out. The broken lid did not hinder the use of the toilet as the seat was not the broken part but we are still sorry Jane encountered this problem. We do provide several outdoor lounge chairs which are more like adirondack chairs which may be considered beach chairs by some. In the written description of the chairs we do list them as adirondack chairs. At the Periwinkle Cottage you are up on a cliff overlooking the ocean so you can't actually get down to the beach from the cottage.
We wanted a mini-vacation and since newly married at ages 87 & 76, thought Campobello Island would be a good choice. Our stay at tiny Periwinkle cottage was a good fit for us. It was neat, clean and had a lot of charm. We didn't see a whale, but did see eagles and the cute little squirrel off the deck. Morning coffee on the deck overlooking the water was so wonderful! Thank you, Dennis and Margaret for a memorable time. (We hope our memories will remain for a bit longer!) Would like to return someday. David and Jo from Kingfield, ME
We were so inspired by David and his newlywed who came too Campobello for a mini vacation. We hope they get to return soon!
They were great guests!
Little bit of solitude
My husband and I visited Campobello Island for a few days of R&R...Periwinkle was the perfect location! The cottage is cute and the front deck is amazing! We spent a whole morning sitting at the water's edge watching porpoises, cormorants and even a whale! This is the perfect location to unwind. Dennis was a terrific host that went out of his way to check on us and ensure we were comfortable. We would definitely stay at Periwinkle, or one of his other cottages, again!
Amy and her husband were great guests! They truly enjoyed the uniqueness and beauty of all the views and wildlife surrounding them. Hope they return! Dennis & Margaret
Very peaceful and quiet spot
Our stay was very relaxing. Dennis is a great host.
